On October 17, 2006, New Orleans police were called to the scene of a suicide. A man had jumped from the rooftop bar of the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel onto a parking garage 5 stories below. When police arrived, they searched the man for identification. In one of his pockets, they found a Ziploc bag containing the man’s army dog tags and a folded sheet of notebook paper that said “FOR POLICE ONLY” on the outside of it. The contents of the note led police to a nightmarish crime scene that became infamous in the City of New Orleans.
