In this episode, we tackle I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman, a haunting and thought-provoking novel that leaves you questioning... well, everything.
But because we cannot stay on track, we also veer into the second inauguration of Donald Trump, Max drops massive spoilers for Hugh Howey's Silo series (consider this your warning), and an unexpected—very questionable—deep dive into Stew Boy Prisoners.
Don't ask.
It's a literary discussion gone rogue, fueled by wine and way too much curiosity. This is the second of three episodes coming to GULP FICTION* this week. But don't go overboard (like we did). We hope you enjoy responsibly! -
Episode three is finally upon us!
By way of apology for not getting an episode of the pod out last week, the hosts of your new favourite book club do away with the very premise of the show (and tenuously agreed to forego editing to show you just how chaotic their friendship can be).
Instead of discussing a book, we discuss fiction that isn't in print. Everything from movies to TV, including recent UK releases such as Nosferatu, Babygirl, Severance and, of course, BBC's The Traitors. Along the way we see off two bottles of wine, two bottles of beer and charter waters such as the recent 14-hour TikTok ban, Bob the Drag Queen, sing Cardi B and the theme to Peppa Pig, and struggle with closing our own show (spoiler alert: one of us may have drunk a little too much).
So sit back and relax as you enjoy this unedited, unfiltered, raw episode of GULP FICTION* - cheers! -

Episode two is finally here!
This week, in the spirit of Dry January (and because Mia is under the weather), we are forgoing the wine which, somehow, opens the door to more tangents than usual. While we are supposed to be discussing Boris Johnson's 2024 memoir, Unleashed, and while we try our best, the oft-drunk dynamic duo that we are instead focus time on the Golden Globes. Not to mention that Mia sings Wicked, Max brings up Brexit, and they ask each other one of life's most important questions: is the ex-Prime Minister a fan of the Pussycat Dolls?
Get a glass and get comfy because GULP FICTION* is back! -
Welcome to the very first episode of GULP FICTION*!This week, there's no holding back. With TBR stacks towering and wine glasses (or mugs, in this case) full to the brim, Mia & Max share their top 3 favourite books of all time, chat about what they've read over the course of the last year, and confess to the chaos that is their to-be-read lists.Along the way they veer off course (as is to be expected) with tangents about Netflix adaptations, TikTok fame, the challenges of writing outside your own perspective, and just how disorganised two people with a podcast can possible be. Spoiler alert: very. All this plus one whole bottle of wine each makes for a lively, laugh-filled start to our bookish adventure. Pour a glass (or mug!) and tune in; your new favourite book club is now in session!
