The conversation begins with practical questions about bankrolls, moving countries, studying efficiently, and building a professional routine - but quickly turns toward something much deeper. Together, they uncover how fear of incompetence, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to "know the right answer" can quietly fuel tilt and undermine long-term success.
Whether you're pursuing poker professionally, building a business, or simply betting on yourself for the first time, this episode explores the mindset needed to make that leap without letting fear dictate your decisions.
Welcome to the Heads Up With Phil Galfond Podcast, where we listen in on a coaching call between Phil and a guest. In these episodes, Phil coaches the guest through whatever is holding them back from what they want to achieve.
Whether it's this call or another, Phil and his guests will explore many topics together, including: approaching poker and life in a professional manner, struggling to make the next step while reaching higher, addressing mindset blocks cemented in childhood, and the patterns of decisions that lead to hardship while pursuing self-employment.

This is the first episode of Heads Up With Phil Galfond – a podcast I sat on for a year because I was afraid to put it out. It's a coaching call with Fabian "Suhepx," a high-stakes PLO pro who's been at this for over a decade, and we get into the stuff that actually holds smart, capable people back: the fear of failure, the "too smart to try" trap, and what it's like to set a goal and then watch your brain chase the next shiny thing instead. We both have ADHD, so a lot of this is personal. If either of those sounds like you, I think you'll get something out of it.
