I am thrilled to share with you some information on systemic enzymes. I take them myself and recommend them to many people in my chiropractic practice.
Michael has been working with enzymes for over 20 years. He works closely with top researchers, enzymologists, and formulators around the world. These are brilliant people in their field. He has done hundreds of radio shows and podcasts over the years and has personally trained thousands of practitioners on the use of enzymes in their practices. He currently works with HCP Formulas. He talks about how his falls on his mountain bike don’t have long-lasting deleterious effects because of his use of Fibrenza. The research demonstrates that post-workout muscle soreness can be greatly reduced with the enzyme bromelain and the yellow chemical from turmeric called curcumin…nature nurtures.
We all have enzymes in our bodies and cannot live without them. They help digest food, catalyze reactions, modulate inflammation, maintain and repair cells, and more. Your body makes over 3000 types of enzymes. They are crucial for human existence. Here we cover systemic enzymes: What are they, the benefits in your body, how to take them as supplements, what they do in your bloodstream and can they help with symptoms of aging? Inflammation is a vital to the healing process. However, due to our diets, toxic load and other factors, we can have trouble with inflammation resolution. Enzymes have natural inflammation-fighting properties. In fact, the natural role of enzymes within your body is to help reduce and eliminate inflammation.
Taking enzymes helps with inflammation resolution and reduces the fibrosis of repair. From wound healing, fibromyalgia, a sprained ankle, or even inflamed organs can be helped. Enzymes like nattokinase, serrapeptase (Study shown to accelerate healing in patients recovering from dental surgery), papain, bromelain (shown to speed up recovery from cosmetic surgery), lumbrokinase or others help reduce local & systemic inflammation. Systemic enzymes have been clinically proven to speed up the rate at which wounds heal. Animal studies found that bromelain and papain accelerate wound healing when applied to the skin.
Take osteoarthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease or just being bloated after a meal, for instance. All of these conditions have a large inflammatory component that can be helped. I often pair enzymes with extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). ESST breaks up scar tissue and is great for conditions like tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, arthritic knees, post-surgical scar tissue, and more. The scar tissue divides into calcium and fibrin in the blood. The fibrin can make people fatigued if I am doing a large area and a lot of pulses in one visit. When I have people take the enzymes, they notice no rebound fatigue after aggressive shockwave treatments and better results.
There are conditions of too much fibrin, like cystic fibrosis or uterine fibroids. Also, the bloodstream can become clogged with fibrin with age as we become less efficient at clearing the fibrin out. Fibrin is a protein, and proteolytic enzymes are great at counteracting too much of the fibrin as they “eat” protein. Imagine how happy your heart, immune system, arteries, and inflammatory pathways & your life will be with less fibrin in the way. Strokes and heart attack risk go down by decreasing the likelihood of blood clots, and the blood is “thinned.”
If it sounds too good to be true, well, they are good and even non-toxic and safe. I would caution about mild nausea and the mild blood thinning component of taking systemic enzymes on an empty stomach.
Thank you for your interest, and I wish you the best on your journey of health throughout your lifetime. Adam Fields, DC, is a practicing chiropractor in Northern California and can be reached for an online or telehealth appointment by going to www.fieldsfamilychiro.com and clicking “book online.”

I am fortunate enough to welcome Rob English for a second time to Health & Care. The Oscars this year brought Alopecia Areata to the forefront of the conversation, and Rob English is at the forefront of the topic of hair growth. He is a published researcher, has published five peer-reviewed studies, and is paid to edit medical research on the subject of hair growth and the topics surrounding it. He is the founder of www.perfecthairhealth.com where he focuses on evidence-based options for slowing, stopping, and even reversing hair loss. Like me, he is big on self-care, and his beautiful head of hair that was once balding is part of the proof that his techniques work. He reversed his androgenic alopecia and tells his story in Episode 8 of Health & Care. I appreciate how Rob is versed in alternative treatments like low-level laser therapy, self-massage, light therapy, Biotin, baldness supplements, platelet-rich plasma for hair loss, growth factors, stem cells, and a plethora of other therapies. and conventional hair-loss treatment options like hair transplants, Minoxidil, Propecia (Finasteride) Rogaine, etc.
You can reach Rob English for free information or his paid service to help you with hair loss at www.perfecthairhealth.com
Dr. Fields is a practicing chiropractor in Northern California and can be reached for in-person appointments, as a team member on your health journey via a Telehealth consultation, or for speaking engagements at www.fieldsfamilychiro.com.

I am fortunate enough to welcome Rob English to Health & Care. He is a researcher, medical editor and the founder of Perfect Hair Health where he focuses on evidence-based options for slowing, stopping and even reversing hair loss.
My main interest is in his natural approaches. However, Rob is versed in alternative and conventional hair-loss treatment options. Rob’s story of androgenic alopecia as a youngster is compelling and has shaped the trajectory of his life. He has spent much of his life researching male pattern hair loss and female hair loss. In that research, he looked deep into peer-reviewed science on medications like Minoxidil, Propecia (Finasteride) Rogaine and treatments like hair transplants, low-level laser therapy, light therapy, Biotin, baldness supplements, platelet-rich plasma for hair loss, growth factors, stem cells and a plethora of other therapies.
As a result, Rob began to do his own research and has published five peer-reviewed papers on androgenic alopecia. The topics have covered the pathology of androgenic alopecia, an experimental treatment option, the methodological concerns in scalp biopsies, and two articles that were systematic reviews. He takes this topic very seriously and has become an authority on the subject of hair loss.
I know you will find this interesting and, if you have a full head of hair or not.

If you are looking for a spa treatment, deep tissue massage, or an IV drip to better health and wellbeing, the purging of Kambo may not be your thing. If you are willing to walk through some uncharted territory with a promise of a renewed you: read and listen to this podcast. Here I speak with Wolf Purnananda. Among many other things, he is a certified Kambo practitioner. In this conversation, we take a deep dive into the Kambo experience, it's sourcing from the Amazonian Giant Monkey Frog, how you can receive the Kambo medicine, what the experience is like, and what may be some of the potential benefits.
Science has shown that the Kambo secretion from the skin of the Giant Monkey Frog has a unique and complex blend of bioactive peptides. The beneficial nature of these peptides has led to over 70 patents being lodged by scientists and pharmaceutical companies trying to replicate the benefits of Kambo.
Wolf Purnananda started his journey into healthcare to humanity and healing practices began in 1999. He spent 14 years in Sports Medicine working with NBA players but he had a call for more. He felt and heard the call to “Heal from the natural remedies of the Earth.” As you know from my channel, this is right up my alley.
Wolf was drawn toward the art of natural and holistic healing. This was a call and a profound awakening.
He feels that, through the treatment of Kambô, he has received more of an understanding of his true nature and his fiancé had her menstrual cycles totally normalized. He facilitates Kambo ceremonies and creates a space for others to heal from many conditions but does not make outlandish claims. Wolf attended a school for Naturopathic studies and has received merit and certifications through two international organizations as a Master Kambo Practitioner. He is continuing to offer this work through workshops, retreats, and group ceremonies with ancient medicines and soul-evolving teachings.
He also does Ayahuasca ceremonies and credits much of who he is to what he has learned in these 8 hour long journeys.
These practices are definitely outside the box of modern medicine and even alternative healthcare. Watch with an open mind and realize that just because it doesn’t come in a sealed prescription bottle or from a supplement company, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have great benefits. Enjoy the listen!

In this episode, I enthusiastically interview Dr. Don Clum about overcoming dieting plateaus. He covers topics like ketogenic diets, insulin resistance, hidden ways we sabotage our weight loss, how insulin is a major factor in inflammation and illness, and meal frequency to name a few. This is a wonderful journey into the human body surrounding something we do regularly...eat.
I will do another interview with Dr. Clum on the subject of fasting and can’t wait to pick his brain on this subject. I do a lot of 72-hour fasts and look forward to his approach as he, actually, went 30 days at one point.
He is a Chiropractor, Nutritionist, and Metabolic Health Expert who works internationally, has lectured in many countries and worked as the Peak Performance Doctor for the Olympic Teams in Central America. His programs have reached hundreds of thousands of people globally.
In 2010 Dr. Clum and his wife started a fully integrated wellness center while also transitioning to a traditional pain management medical practice into a wellness center serving as the director of wellness & the onsite lab.
Dr. Clum’s programs for insulin resistance specifically focus on diabetes, diabetes prevention, metabolic syndrome, weight loss resistance, obesity, sleep, and cardiometabolic issues led him to join a population health company, ADURO Inc. serving 140 employers and over 1,200,000 employees. Dr. Clum designed and delivered the first alternative diabetes prevention program and out-performed the National Diabetes Prevention Program from the N.I.H. and C.D.C.
Today Dr. Clum's 100% virtual practice and programs teach how to reverse insulin resistance with "Functional Rotational Fasting," Advanced Metabolic Nutrition, Functional Fitness, Sleep Enhancement, and Stress Resilience. In this second interview with Dr. Josh Donaldson, we explore PRP or platelet-rich plasma and what it could do for your osteoarthritic knees, jumper’s knees, meniscus tears, rotator cuff injuries, hypermobile shoulders, painful lower backs, plantar fasciitis, and even wrinkle lines. This is a natural treatment that harvests the power of components in your own blood to aid in regenerating cartilage, stopping tendon pain, and getting professional athletes back in the game.
My dentist even uses PRP in his practice to help with bone regrowth after severe tooth abscesses.
During the video, we show the process of drawing the blood, putting it in a centrifuge, extracting the PRP, and injecting it into my own knee. In the past, I had a very hypermobile shoulder that would pop, click and hurt. After a number of PRP injections, I am doing push-ups and live pain-free. It was a painful process but well worth the time, money, and pain.
Dr. Josh Donaldson began his educational career at the University of Oregon where he obtained a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Biology. He then worked in the field of Physical Therapy and Fitness Training for several years before obtaining his doctorate (N.D.) from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR. Following medical school, Dr. Donaldson completed a post-doctoral clinical research fellowship where he investigated the nutritional implications of various diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and digestive disorders. Now in private practice, Dr. Donaldson incorporates a holistic approach to each of his patients by addressing the whole person and every aspect of their health. He practices general family medicine but has specific interests in chronic pain disorders, sports medicine, mental/emotional disorders, healthy aging, diabetes/obesity, heart disease, and gastrointestinal conditions. His ultimate goal is to find the underlying cause of pain & dysfunction in the body for these and other areas of medicine and then develop personalized treatment strategies accordingly. Attention is centered on reversing & preventing further dysfunction through patient education, the implementation of various therapeutic modalities, and appropriate dietary & lifestyle modifications to help guide his patients towards optimal and lasting wellness. In addition, Dr. Donaldson has a passion for education and has been an Adjunct Professor at Cabrillo College and the Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz, California since 2006. He also gives community lectures on various health topics, offers Corporate Wellness Programs throughout the West Coast, and leads Detox & Cleansing Retreats in Mexico & Hawaii.

I got a message from a subscriber of my channel named Susi Quintana. She graciously corrected one of the tongue exercises on one of my sleep apnea and snoring videos and opened my eyes to the world of myofunctional therapy.
Since then, I have sent patients her way and bounce information off of her on a regular basis.
What I do with my throat opening and tongue and mouth exercising videos can help a lot of people but it is not tailored to a specific person with a specific diagnosis related to breathing, snoring, being tongue tied, etc. So, there is Susi who evaluates online and takes someone through a journey through this important part of your physiology. Breathing, sleeping, even having a 60 year old be able to roll her tongue for the first time are some of the benefits I have seen myofunctional therapy accomplish.
Myofunctional therapy helps people with tongue thrust, snoring, sleep apnea, swallowing problems, dental issues and even asthma, allergies, acid reflux, bruxism (clenching your teeth) and TMJ issues. It concentrates on objective measurement and resulting oral facial muscle and tongue therapy. We don’t think too much about fine tuning our tongues but it can make a difference that gives benefits for the rest of our lives. When I use myofunctional therapists, I have them work with me as I adjust the cranial bones using endonasal cranial adjusting, apply lasers on the soft palate for snoring, do posture correction, TMJ therapy and other therapies that may, also, involve a dentist that specializes in maxilla expansion and other corrective therapies for the mouth.
Susi Quintana is a Registered Dental Hygienist of over 20 years. She is also a Certified Orofacial Myologist (or COM) through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (or IAOM). She is the first certified myofunctional therapist with a dental background in Houston, and the 5th in the entire state of Texas.
She has her own myofunctional therapy business in the Houston, TX area – but provides virtual therapy as well – which means she can provide therapy to anyone anywhere.
She got into myofunctional therapy after facing airway and sleep concerns with her daughter and talks about this journey with us on the podcast.
Susi works with people from toddlers to seniors and can be reached by the following:

In this conversation, I interview Dr Josh Donaldson. He is a doctor or naturopathy (Naturopathic Doctor), from Northern California. The topic we discuss is ozone therapy. I, often, refer patients to Dr Donaldson for the treatment of nasal related issues, fatigue and even chronic diseases that can be helped with ozone therapy. Nasal ozone insufflation can help mucosal linings to relieve nasal blockage from chronic nasal inflammation, nasal mold infections, chronic rhinitis and other problems. This pairs well with the Endonasal Cranial Adjusting that I do to move the skull bones and help with nasal blockage, snoring, sleep apnea, sinus issues and many other maladies. Dr Donaldson explains ear ozone insufflation, also, and it’s great sytemic and local benefits like eustachian tube dysfunction and ear infections. Intravenous ozone therapy is a treatment that I have done on my own body and am excited to share this with people who seek more energy, help with chronic infections and many other challenges. Dr. Josh Donaldson began his educational career at the University of Oregon where he obtained a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Biology.
