  • Musician & co-founder of TAPE Community Music & Film STEVE SWINDON picks the five tracks he will meet in Hell.

Steve started his career as bassist with the Britrock band A. He is now the drummer for the very fine Flotation Toy Warning. Steve is also co-founder of TAPE, a community based music and film charity which seeks to help people develop their creativity. They are doing some fine work, which we urge you to check out, but it is still not enough to save Steve from Satan's fiery music demons.

We talked about Steve's first band, how Steve became a member of Snoop Dogg's entourage for an afternoon, and podcast favourite Heather Small of M People.

  • American photographer VALERIE PHILLIPS gives us a picture of her personal musical Hell, selecting the five tracks that will torment her for all eternity. Valerie's incredible body of work spans live music, album covers, corporate clients, and fashion magazines as well as her fascinating series of books photographing young women in their own environments. She's shot PJ Harvey, Garbage, and Florence + the Machine to name but a few, and her latest book, LITTLE BABY NOTHINGS, documents the band Manic Street Preachers at the very beginning of their career. It is quite the treasure trove for fans of Valerie, the band, photography, the 90s, rock n' roll, eyeliner, spray paint, and of course leopard print.

  • Episode fourteen brings a new development, for the first time we welcome two souls at once! Glasgow band NEVERFINE materialize in Hell and are forced to provide the five tracks that will torture them for all eternity. neverfine are the creators of a fine E.P. called Do Everything, Feel Nothing and in January released their single Colours. They've been tipped as ones to watch this year by BBC Radio Scotland's Vic Galloway, so we're pretty stoked to be able to drag them to Hell before anyone else gets their claws into them. Check them out on Spotify.

neverfine play Belladrum festival this weekend (if you're listening the week this goes out), then Hug & Pint, Glasgow on July 30th and Tenement Trail, Glasgow on October 12th.

  • Our thirteenth episode sees Welsh critic and broadcaster GARY RAYMOND dragged to Hell and made to give up the five tracks that will torture him for all eternity. Gary is no stranger to trips in the underworld, as his latest book, Abandon All Hope is a version of Dante's inferno set in the world of Welsh literature. He is the author of four other books: two fiction, two non-fiction, including How Love Actually Ruined Christmas, his forensically hilarious take down of the Richard Curtis film. Gary is also the host of the Radio Wales Arts Show, and founder and executive editor of Wales Arts Review.

  • Welcome to Hellish, where we ask our guests for the five tracks they will meet in Hell.

Episode twelve is really something else. We're joined by art director/model maker/costume designer/vfx whizz CERIDWEN BROWN. It's quite hard to explain exactly what Ceridwen does, as you'll hear in the episode, but it has included making puppets for Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox; making prosthetics for the Maccabees; and doing costumes for ZingZillas. Oh, and drumming in an all-girl Chinese punk band. In China.

Ceridwen's latest project, Tweedy and and Fluff, can be seen on Channel 5 Milkshake in English, and S4C yn Cymraeg.

SOME LINKS - suggest you listen to the episode before you click these.

Here is Ceridwen's interview series on Chinese female drummers for Tom Tom Mag.

The new series of Is Psychiatry Working? is currently available on BBC platforms here. Episode nine! We're welcoming actor and writer KELLIE SHIRLEY to Hell, to get the five tracks that will torment her for all eternity. Kellie is familiar to millions as Carly Wicks in British soap Eastenders, Kirsty in Idris Elba's In the Long Run, and currently Sophia in Casualty. Magazine, and how narrative storytelling is literally going down the toilet.

This week, Hellish is joining Kellie in supporting the Children's Society. We're giving you the chance to get the extended patreon version of the episode for $3 (two quid something in UK money). • Welcome to Hellish, where we ask our guests for the five tracks they will meet in Hell.

Episode six brings us to musician and composer IAIN COOK. Iain is one third of the band CHVRCHES and one half of new project Protection. We talk the Beano universe, what exactly the rules are when it comes to a song universally adored that you cannot stand, whether or not CHVRCHES ever ride around on BMX bikes with their names on their t-shirts, and the worst job Iain has ever done. We also reveal three more of Alex's Coldplay Connections in what we hope will not become a regular feature.

Listen to Iain's music on Spotify: CHVRCHES and Protection ('Still Love You' is a BANGER)

Iain's Infernal Playlist is here on Spotify

The Ultimate Infernal Playlist, featuring all our guests' choices is here on Spotify

Episode five is the turn of Acting Coach, Teacher, and Director JAMES KEMP. James has taught at least one actor you think is awesome, including Tom Hardy, Emilia Clarke, and former damned soul Stephen Wight. As a coach, his clients include Dune star Rebecca Ferguson and Scroobius Pip of Distraction Pieces fame. James also co-runs acting studio/production company Effort Productions. We talk what will happen if England win the World Cup, exactly what Movement Psychology is, Michael Fassbender's frown, and the worst job James has ever done.

You can check out Effort Productions here.

Episode four, and we welcome our first poet since Dante, GLYN EDWARDS. Glyn is the author of two poetry collections, Vertebrae, and In Orbit. We talk teaching, getting mis-named, lyrics vs poems, and of course the worst job Glyn has ever done.
