  • It’s our 2nd annual Father’s Day celebration and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome back to the show, our own amazing father, Daddy (Glenn) Ashley. One of the best story tellers we know, he does not disappoint in this weeks episode as we listen to and then breakdown some of the best “dad stories” we’ve heard on this show.

From quirky dinner table rituals to family pranks, Daddy Ashley weighs in on some of our favorite dad stories from past guests. Then we dig into our own father’s father, Paw Paw, the original trickster, and some of the unconventional ways he used to entertain his kids. Whether a family outing to look at Christmas lights or teaching his kids about current events, his flare for the adrenaline rush clearly got passed down to our dad. Daddy Ashley also shares an incredible memory involving his first hand account of the events around JFK’s assassination in Dallas. You won’t want to miss this one!!

We are dedicating this Father’s Day episode to our much beloved uncle “Doncle” Don Williams, who passed away on June 11th. Doncle was a classic, one of the most incredible, dedicated and loving father’s we know who loved life, loved his family and was a bright light to anyone in his orbit. May you rest in peace, Doncle. We love you so much, and we especially loved your show!

    Happy Father’s Day y’all!

  • Whitney and Courtney welcome Amy Cohen Epstein, the inspiring president and executive director of the Lynne Cohen Foundation and host of the women’s wellness podcast, The SEAM.

Amy, who founded the organization with her siblings, shares her journey from losing her mom, Lynne, at the age of 21 to creating a nonprofit organization in her honor. The foundation is dedicated to combating ovarian and breast cancer through preventative care, education, and community, and is a true testament to Lynne's enduring spirit and love for others.

Amy reminisces about the vibrant and beloved "Momma Lynnie" who was a college cheerleader, a doting mother of four and the consummate hostess with the mostess, despite the fact that cooking was not her forte. Amy claims Lynne was a bit of a local celebrity in her own community simply because everyone who knew her loved her dearly!

Inspired by her incredible mother, Amy Cohen Epstein’s advocacy for women's health issues has created a path for female empowerment in a world where women often don’t know how to take charge of their own health. She highlights the importance of preventative care, sharing anecdotes about the foundation's work and the thousands of women they've helped over the years. Her dedication to educating and supporting women through the Lynne Cohen Foundation and "The Seam" podcast is truly commendable. This episode of "Hey, Sis, Eat This" is a beautiful tribute to Momma Lynnie and a celebration of the enduring impact one woman can have not just on her family and community but whose legacy lives on through the foundation.

  • Join sisters Alex Pfeifer & Sabrina Chazen as they bring the heat to this weeks episode of Hey Sis, Eat This. Fireworks explode as these two dynamic women dish out tales of meals, Momma, and memories from their vastly different perspectives.

Alex, a powerhouse in Los Angeles real estate, and Sabrina, a trendsetting fashion influencer, both share a drive for success and independence. Where they do differ is recounting what it was like around their dinner table given their "debatable" 7 year age gap.

The sisters fill us in on Momma Cathie who was an extraordinary homemaker who passed down her art of cooking and entertaining to Alex but Sabrina prefers Postmates. We learn that Cathie was the Queen of Casseroles and if you didn't know any better you would think she was a Texan from the taste of her Tamale pie.

Alex and Sabrina share that Momma Cathie always taught them to be kind and inclusive. Whether times were good or bad, everything can be fixed with a Momma Cathie casserole.

  • This week on Hey Sis Eat This, we've got a special treat as the hilarious host behind the Making A Martini Podcast, Caleb Feigles and his younger brother, Ian, join us for a delightful discussion fueled by martinis and memories of their marvelous mom, Momma Jeannine.

Despite their seven-year age gap, Caleb and Ian share a bond that's unbreakable, largely thanks to their extraordinary mother. They reminisce about Momma Jeannine's culinary prowess, her unconditional love, and the heartwarming traditions that have shaped their family dynamics.

From Momma Jeannine's legendary Mexican food nights to her unconventional ham cooked with 7-Up and pineapples, the Feigels brothers paint a vivid picture of the joyous gatherings around the dinner table, complete with a nostalgic "Stepford" vibe.

But it's not just about the food—Momma Jeannine goes all out when it comes to Christmas traditions, ensuring that holidays are filled with food, games, and cherished family time. And let's not forget Caleb's passion for musical theater, which sparked an annual pilgrimage to NYC for Broadway shows, a tradition that continues to this day.

As if that weren't enough, the Feigels family isn't afraid to embrace their quirky side, with vacations featuring morbidly hilarious photo ops in pretend murder scenes.

But the real highlight of this episode! For the first time ever, Momma Jeannine herself joins the podcast to share her insights and take part in the rapid-fire round. • Courtney and Whitney may have met their sarcastic match on this weeks episode of Hey Sis, Eat This. Kathy, host of the Women Who Sarcast Podcast and her equally hilarious sister, Chris, join us to talk about their childhood of games, pranks and favorite dishes while celebrating the also very sarcastic and mom of 6, Momma Nancy.

Growing up in the small town of Ticonderoga NY, pop. 3000, Momma Nancy ran a tight ship for this family of 8. Kathy and Chris share insights into the chaos and camaraderie that defined their childhood. Nancy kept the house in running order with her “wheel of chores,” infamously large Lazy Susan that helped serve dinner and homemade board games to keep the large brood entertained.

The sisters pay tribute to their mother's no-nonsense attitude, which instilled values of respect and kindness in their upbringing. When one of the siblings stepped out of line, all it took was “that look” from Momma Nancy to know she wasn’t going to put up with their antics.

The creative Momma Nancy, not only made homemade games, but sewed the family’s clothes and reupholstered the family lazy boys multiple times. This jack-of-all-trades, big hearted momma worked tirelessly to make holidays memorable had an open door policy with all the neighbor kids. She embodied love, laughter and of course a bit of sarcasm in all that she did and we say HOORAY to Momma Nancy and Happy 90th Birthday, Lady!!

  • Meet Tyler and Geoff, two siblings blowing up the” you tubes” with her legal advice channel The Creators' Attorney and his food channel focusing on his Taiwanese family’s recipes and vegetable farm in Ontario, CA.

Tyler Chou, an attorney and content creator, shares her journey of starting her own YouTube channel after having a midlife crises and discovering a passion for representing other content creators. Geoff, Tyler’s younger brother by 15 years who now runs the farm is on a mission to carry on his family’s farming legacy while also preserving his mother’s traditional Taiwanese recipes for future generations.

They share with us the challenges of growing up Asian-American in a predominantly white community with immigrant parents who do not speak English. Spending their weekends working with their parents selling flowers at swap meets to transitioning to the demands of farming, life wasn’t always easy in the Chou household. However, these siblings recall an abundance of love and food in their childhood home where Tyler introduced the phrase, “I love you” to the family and was an integral part of raising Geoff to be a well adjusted American teenager.

Their parents kept the kids close and sheltered in their tight-knit Chinese community where Momma Sherry regularly entertained large groups of friends with her incredible food. Matriarch, Momma Sherry, continues to keep her family close today by cooking her famous dishes for her kids and grandkids any chance she can get using vegetables from the family farm.

It’s a beautiful story of one family’s struggles and triumphs as they work tirelessly to preserve their beautiful and delicious heritage while adapting to a very different American way of life.

  • We are excited to welcome to the podcast two sisters from another mister, Jaimie and & Casey. Two Bay Area besties who were so inseparable during childhood and beyond that there is no other word to describe their relationship than straight up family.

Going back and forth between two dinner tables, growing up, Casey and Jaimie experienced not only different cuisines but also how motherly love can be shown in more ways than one. When the girls were at Jaimie’s house they were raised by Momma Sue, the free spirited, tell me your feelings kind of mom, who made organic food and loved to know everything going on in the girls lives. Casey’s Grandma Betty took her in after her mom passed away when she was 7.Grandma Betty was from an older generation and showed love in a more stoic way. While she wasn’t the warm and fuzzy type, this hard working school lunch lady provided for Casey the best she knew how and it was the unspoken gestures the girls reveal in this interview that show the deep commitment Betty had to raising Casey.

There is no shortage of dinner table stories with these two who fondly look back on Momma Sue’s delicious salads and organic offerings to Grandma Betty’s leftover enchiladas from the school’s cafeteria. Junior high and high school did not go without challenges for these besties who had their fair share of teenage idiot tales that involve taser guns and hair dye.

The love and bond is deep between these two and their support for one another, unyielding. As Casey became more of a fixture in Jaimie’s household, Momma Sue had no issue disciplining Casey and making sure she stayed on track when things got tough for her in high school. The always supportive Momma Sue continued to be there for Jaimie when she came out after college and continues to be her biggest supporter and a champion of Jaimie’s mission to bring awareness to LGBTQ+ families everywhere on her award winning podcast, The Queer Family Podcast.

You won’t want to miss this special episode as we laugh, cry and continue to celebrate all the kinds of Mommas out there providing love, support and guidance whether they birthed them or not.

  • Hey Y'all! Welcome back to Season 2 of the Hey Sis, Eat This Podcast! After a much needed 2 and half month hiatus, we are thrilled to start our second season with non other than the “STAR” of the show, Momma Ashley and her sister, our beloved Aunt Martha.

We kick off the first episode with Courtney, Whitney and Momma Ashley catching up about their time off from podcasting, sharing recipes, refrigerator organizing tips and new martini olive ideas. Courtney then feels the need to share her recent near death experience after sliding through her dog’s diarrhea in the middle of the night and even has a video to share of the harrowing yet hilarious incident.

Next we are joined by Aunt Martha. Momma Ashley and “Aunt Marta” reminisce about their family and the love of cooking and entertaining that runs deep through multiple generations of women in their family.

We begin with stories about their maternal grandmother, Gram, who was known for constantly throwing parties and hosting elaborate dinners. She was a founding member of the Silly Tillies dinner club, a group of friends who would rotate hosting dinner parties their entire adult life which lasted until the members were too old to continue. After Whitney’s failed attempt to revive the Silly Tillies in LA, she is determined to bring it back to life and continue the legacy with her new circle of friends in Dallas.

Possessing less of a passion for entertaining but a wonderful cook in her own right was Martha May, Courtney and Whitney’s grandmother whom they lovingly called Ahmay. According to Aunt Martha, Ahmay was a self taught naturalist who had a passion for gardening and an insatiable desire to learn and teach others. Court & Whit hear first hand from their own mother and aunt what it was like around their childhood dinner table where good manners were strictly enforced but Billy the Parakeet was known to make the occasional appearance walking through the mashed potatoes.

Then, after years of feeling like she can never live up to Momma Ashley’s holiday expectations, Courtney confronts both her mom and aunt on the pressure she feels to recreate the “magical” Christmas they experienced as children in the 50’s. Questions are answered and blame is placed all while deciding that July might be a better time to celebrate “the most wonderful time of the year!”

In true Hey Sis fashion, we’re starting Season 2 with lots of love and laughter in this multi generational episode of family tales and favorite meals. Whether it’s blue cheese, feta stuffed or just plain old green olives, pour that martini, shake it hard, make it dirty and say cheers to a new season of the Hey Sis, Eat This Podcast! Love You, Love Your Show!

  • We are ending our first season of Hey Sis, Eat This on the most delicious note! A spectacular interview with one of our long-time idols, James Beard Award-winning Chef, Nancy Silverton and her magical sister, Gail Silverton. Only one and half years apart to the day, these extremely close sisters open up about their incredible mother, Momma Doris, who was a genuine powerhouse of a woman. When most mothers of her generation were expected to stay home cleaning and cooking, Doris Silverton was shattering the glass ceiling as a successful female television writer in Hollywood. Alongside of her career, Doris was a remarkable wife, supportive mother, and one who never skipped on setting a proper dinner table!

While Nancy wasn’t a huge admirer of Momma Doris’s cooking, she admits that the family dinner table, which she still owns, was a very big part of her childhood. As far as Momma Doris’ culinary style was concerned, the sisters describe it as eclectic and ahead of her time. Beef bourguignon, chili Colorado, spanakopita and Caesar salad were in the regular rotation. Gail loved her mother’s brisket and Paprika chicken, two dishes she continues to make today, while Nancy preferred to take matters into her own hands with fried bologna and “whim” outings to Denny’s whenever on a family road trip.

With only a year and a half apart, these sisters were always close. So close, that they often shared friends and we even discover they dated some of the same guys! Yes... that is plural! Except for Nancy’s one run in with the law and Gail “experimenting’, the Silverton sisters were pretty well behaved in adolescence. Momma Doris was not one to discipline, instead she empowered them by creating a safe space to live and learn from their mistakes. Her democratic parenting style empowered them to be independent, responsible women who never had to second guess themselves in their professional careers.

Doris, who passed away in 2001, left a beautiful legacy with her two extraordinary daughters. An inspiration to each of them, Nancy and Gail have made indelible contributions to the Los Angeles community through food and education. With all that these sisters have accomplished professionally, philanthropically and as mothers, Momma Doris would be so proud!

Nancy's New York Times Bestselling cookbook, “The Cookie That Changed My Life” is available wherever books are sold. You can find the recipe for Peanut Butter cookie that changed her life on our website!

Enjoy this season finale, but please keep your elbows off the table. Look for our next episode in 2024 as we kick off Season 2 of Hey Sis, Eat This!

  • We are back at it again, taking a trip down memory lane with two sisters from our childhood, Haley and Annabelle Wine. These two much younger siblings were always around during our holidays, graduations, proms and countless meals in between. Their Mother, Momma Kathy was BFF’s with Momma Ashley and we learn that Momma Ashley was a mentor mom to Kathy teaching her Jedi mom skills such as how to detect if your child has been drinking. Haley and Annabelle have fond memories of the Ashley sisters and admit that they idolized us when they were little. Whitney, who babysat these girls practically every weekend during her middle school years, has a vivid memory of Momma Kathy’s babysitting binder filled with numbers and protocols in case of emergency. Haley and Annabelle’s memories, however, are of "Whitney being the coolest," riding around in her black Jeep and going to the tanning salon. Thank goodness these girls had the fabulous Momma Kathy to keep them on the right track. Haley and Annabelle lovingly describe Momma Kathy as an incredible mother who knows her way around the kitchen, getting many of her beloved recipes from her mother in law, Momma Dot. Kathy had dinner on the table every night when the girls were growing up and now that the sisters are older, she hosts both girls families every Sunday night. Kathy was the kind of mom that welcomed the girls friends into their home with open arms and no judgment. She was always volunteering at the school, never missed a game, and continues to show up for all of it, once again, as a doting grandmother. So put your buns in the bathroom and fill your Ozarka bottle with vodka because you’re about to learn a lot about these delicious fine Wines!

  • On this Thanksgiving we are so thankful and honored to have the opportunity to sit down with this kind soul of a woman who has one of the biggest hearts of anyone we know. Wendy Holsapple is true Dallas royalty and joins us today to talk about her incredibly interesting mother and father, her equestrian background and her career as the queen of the King’s X, a famous watering hole in North Dallas that’s been around since 1977.

Wendy opens up about her charmed childhood growing up in Dallas, riding horses in her front yard and having a momma who was a New York Rockette. Wendy recalls her mother, Faye Ola as a great cook, growing up on homemade spaghetti and meatballs and chicken and dumplings. Momma Faye was an entertainer at heart. Whether it was doing Rockette style high kicks around the house to get a laugh out of her kids or throwing a dinner party on the roof of her house to do something different, she loved for everyone around her to have a good time.

Just like her warm and kind mother, Wendy is always there to lend a listening ear to her customers at the King’s X, spreading genuine love to everyone who comes to know her. She goes on to spill all the tea on the infamous bar from the most rewarding and hardest part of the job to the craziest thing she's ever witnessed at the bar which happens to include Whitney!

Wendy's true passion is her art, Wire Wonders by Wendy using rocks, vessels, glass, beads and even horseshoes.

We are so blessed to know Wendy and to have her as a friend. She is one special lady!
