  • In this continued series of What Shapes Us, we dive deep into the core of our faith, why we do what we do as followers of Christ. Our beliefs truly shape who we are, and understanding them is key to growing beyond just liking a church or a pastor, to developing a personal, unshakeable relationship with God.

We unpack our 12 Statements of Faith as His people under Every Nation, emphasizing that we are not followers floating without authority, but rooted and grounded in biblical truth.

    Key takeaways include:

✨ Belief is foundational — Jesus commands us to “believe in the one He sent” (John 6:29). Whatever you are doing right now, it’s shaped by what you believe.

✨ One God, Three in One — We believe in the triune God, creator of everything seen and unseen (Genesis 1:1, John 1:3). God made us fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14), each unique and beloved.

✨ Man’s Fall and God’s Pursuit — From Genesis 3, we see how Adam and Eve’s sin opened their eyes to their nakedness, leading them to try and cover themselves with fig leaves. Yet, God seeks us with open arms, asking, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9), not because He doesn’t know, but to invite us to confess and return to Him.

✨ The Only Way to Salvation — We boldly declare that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23), fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life and gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins (1 Peter 2:24). He rose on the third day (Luke 24:6-7), ascended to heaven, and will return to judge the living and the dead (Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 22:12). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

✨ Grace and Faith, Not Works — Salvation is a gift we receive by faith when we confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10). It’s not earned by our deeds but freely given by God’s grace.

✨ Old Testament Shadows, New Testament Reality — The Old Testament points to Christ through shadows and symbols, but it’s in the New Testament that we see the full picture of redemption (Hebrews 10:1). God covered Adam and Eve with animal skins (Genesis 3:21), a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us.

This episode is a heartfelt call to ground your faith in God’s Word and to grow beyond the initial attraction to church culture. Whether you stay in Botswana or move far away, the foundation you build in Christ will carry you through.

Let’s grow together in truth, understanding, and boldness, because what you believe truly shapes who you become.

  • In this episode of our What Shapes Us series, we explore our church’s foundational beliefs about creation and the fall of man. Building on last week’s look at who God is, we now dive deep into what the Bible teaches about how the world began, and what went wrong.

We unpack our Statement of Faith, which declares that God created all things, visible and invisible (Genesis 1:1–3, Colossians 1:15–17, John 1:1–3). Everything in existence was formed by Him, through Christ, and sustained by His Word (Hebrews 1:1–2). From darkness and chaos, God spoke light and life into being, and He still does today.

We then look at how human beings were uniquely made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26–29, Genesis 2:7, Psalm 8:6–8), to know Him, reflect His character, and steward His creation. But through Adam’s sin, humanity fell (Genesis 3), bringing guilt, shame, death, and a world in need of redemption.

Throughout the episode, we ask: So what? What does all of this mean for us today?👉 It means all creation is subject to God.👉 It means we were created for covenant with Him.👉 It means we live in a broken world—but not without hope.

Grab your Bible and join us as we uncover the truths that shape our faith and give us a framework for understanding the world, and our place in it.

  • Sermon Series: What Shapes Us Series Episode Title: Why should I care about what my church believes? This talk marks the beginning of a new series at His People Church titled "What Shapes Us", focusing on the church’s Statement of Faith. The aim is to help congregants understand what the church believes and why doctrine matters.

What is a Statement of Faith? It outlines the core beliefs of the church, rooted in scripture. Understanding it helps members align with the church’s teachings and evaluate whether those teachings are biblically sound.

    Purpose of Studying Doctrine:

To know what and why you believe. To discern your sources of truth and spiritual authority. To ensure your beliefs produce visible change and impact in your life and others. To equip you to test teachings and seek deeper understanding, not just accept things passively.Faith is Active: True belief should manifest in your behavior and life. If there's no fruit or change, then it's worth re-evaluating if you truly believe.Week 1 Focus: The Doctrine of GodTheology (the study of God) cannot be fully explained by human logic; God must reveal Himself. The speaker emphasizes humility in approaching this topic, acknowledging the limitations of human understanding.General Revelation: God reveals Himself through creation, what can be perceived by our senses (Romans 1:19–23). This makes humanity "without excuse" in denying God's existence.

Final Encouragement: You are invited not just to listen but to study the scriptures yourself, ask the Holy Spirit for revelation, and ensure your faith is not just head knowledge but a living, transformative relationship with God.

  • Sermon Series: Next Gen - Part 3

Episode Title: When Life Falls Apart, Is God Still There?

This message marks the final installment of the New Gen series, centered around the theme “Our God is a God of Generations.” The key insight throughout has been that God desires to continue His relationship across generations rather than constantly reintroduce Himself. From Abraham to Isaac, to Jacob, and beyond, each generation was meant to inherit a spiritual legacy and build upon it.

    Key Takeaways:

God Moves Through Generations, Not Moments:Scripture shows how faith was passed from Abraham to Isaac, not through direct divine intervention, but through relationship and example.God commands us, as seen in Deuteronomy, to teach our children, ensuring His story lives on through us.You Are a Link in the Chain:Many blessings we enjoy today are the result of faithful generations before us.Even if you're the first in your lineage to know God, you are empowered to shift your family’s legacy from this point forward.Spiritual Inheritance Through People:David’s relationship with Saul and Jonathan reveals how God uses even difficult people (like Saul) and loyal friends (like Jonathan) to shape us.Even Saul’s jealousy drove David into the caves, where he learned to fully depend on God—proving that God uses everything (Romans 8:28).God Answers Prayer Differently Than Expected:Many miss God's blessings because they don’t look the way we imagined. God sends what we need, not always what we want.Be careful not to dismiss divine opportunities or relationships because they don’t match your expectations.Love Is the Mark of Discipleship:Jesus didn’t say we’d be known as His disciples by how long we pray or how well we preach—but by our love for one another.Genuine community and love often involve tension, but God uses that to grow us.Finish Well: Pass the Baton:King David, though imperfect, remained “a man after God’s heart” because he understood the importance of generational transfer. At the end of his life, David prepared Solomon to carry the mantle forward—recognizing that legacy is built not just in victories, but in intentional handovers.

    Final Encouragement:
This message is a call to reflect on the legacy you are receiving, and the one you are leaving. Whether you were handed a strong spiritual baton or you're starting fresh, God has positioned you to continue His work in the next generation. Embrace it. Pass it on.

"You are not just living your life, you are building a bridge for someone else to cross."

  • This special message takes a powerful detour from our New Gen series to reflect on the enduring impact of the cross, not only for salvation but for the sanctification of every believer. Through the raw and relatable journey of Peter, we explore how grace is not a one-time experience but a continual place we are called to return to.

What does it look like to live fully aware of God's presence? How does grace shape our responses to failure, our willingness to return, and the way we treat others? With moments of deep conviction, loving correction, and divine encouragement, this episode reminds us that grace is not an escape hatch, but the very ground we walk on in our faith journey.

Whether you're leading, struggling, or somewhere in between, The Place of Grace will challenge you to examine how closely you're walking with Jesus, and whether others can sense His presence in your life. • In this powerful continuation of The Next Gen series, we explore how God is a God of generations, a God introduced through lives, not titles. We are challenged to recognize that our salvation isn’t just for ourselves; it's meant to be passed on. Whether you're a parent, student, or single adult, your lifestyle can introduce others to the living God.

In this episode, we explore the powerful, God-centered friendship between Jonathan and David—what it teaches us about pure love, purpose-driven relationships, and the courage to love selflessly. Are you someone's Jonathan or David?

Reading from 1 Samuel 18:1–5, we learn a few things:

    1. The Thing That Drew Jonathan to David Was God—Purpose.

    2. Jonathan’s Friendship Was Unconditional.

    3. True Friendship Desires the Best for the Other.

Your influence — at home, work, school, or gym — can become someone else’s encounter with Christ. Are you living in a way that shows others the God you serve? This episode is a call to authentic faith and generational impact. Let's be the generation that makes it easier for the next to know God, not start from zero.

  • "What are you passing on to the next generation?"

We're starting a new series called New Gen, where we focus on one of God's deepest desires, reaching and raising the next generation to know Him. Scripture consistently shows us that God is a generational God. From Abraham, to Isaac, to Jacob, there is a clear pattern: each generation was introduced to God through someone else's walk with Him.

In this powerful and timely message, we explore the relationship between King Saul and David, a story of leadership, rejection, purpose, and generational transition. The sermon reminds us that even when Saul was rejected by God, he still played a key role in ushering in David, the next leader anointed by God.

With deep insight and humor, the speaker unpacks how Saul unknowingly created space for David to rise: offering opportunities, equipping him with his armor, seeking help from him, and eventually placing him in leadership. Through David's humility, obedience, and radical faith, we are challenged to recognize and nurture the potential in the young people around us.

This message will stir your heart to reflect on how we can prepare the next generation, make room for their gifts, and trust God’s timing, even when it looks different than our own expectations.

  • We’re back with Part 2 of the Indeed series! Last time, we explored what it means to live in the light of God. Now, we’re diving into what it truly means to live in His righteousness.

How we see ourselves changes everything. When we recognize that we are clothed in Christ’s righteousness: covered by His grace, our actions, decisions, and way of life shift. But when righteousness feels heavy, do we ever try to set it aside, even for just a moment?

In this episode, we unpack the true meaning of being in right standing with God, why our own righteousness is never enough, and how transformation—not just rule-following—defines a life aligned with Him. Drawing from 1 John, Deuteronomy, Romans, and more, we explore how faith and righteousness are inseparable.

If we say we are saved Indeed, let Christ be seen in our lives—Indeed! Tune in and be reminded: You are clothed in Christ. Walk like it.

  • In this episode, we kick off a brand-new series titled Indeed, based on 1 John 2:3: ”We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands." This series explores the powerful truth that our actions reflect our true nature, and the role of the Holy Spirit, the Parakletos, as an advocate, encourager, and comforter. It highlights how Satan accuses believers by reminding them of past sins, but through Jesus, the propitiation for sin, believers can stand boldly before God. The message underscores the importance of living in the light, as evidence of salvation is seen through obedience to God’s commandments.

This week, we dive into Living in the Light (1 John 1:5–2:10). Since God is light, we are called to walk in the light. But what does that look like in everyday life? Through engaging illustrations: including onions, eggs, and even a "cat" that lays eggs, we unpack the reality that our deeds reveal the true state of our hearts. Are we truly saved in deed, evidencing Christ in our lives indeed?

Join us as we examine what it means to walk in the light, reflect Christ, and live out our faith authentically.

    Key Takeaways:

Our actions testify to our true nature. Living in the light means aligning our lives with God's truth. If Christ is truly in us, He will be seen in our deeds.

  • In this final episode ofThe Cross series, we reflect on the power, purpose, and transformation that the cross brings into our lives. The cross is not just about salvation—it changes us, calls us deeper, and gives us access to the Father.

We explore how the work of salvation wasfully completed on the cross and what that means for our daily lives. Many believers live unaware of theinheritance they already have in Christ, just like the story of the son who ignored the Bible his father left him, not knowing it contained his full inheritance.

    We discuss:

✅ The power ofknowing what the cross accomplished

✅ Why so many struggle to stay in the Word and prayer

✅ How we often start strong in faith, just like New Year’s resolutions, but fade over time

✅ The reality that we arenot bound by generational curses because we are made new in Christ

✅ The privilege of direct access to God—no longer needing a mediator like in the Old Testament

The cross changes everything. The work isdone—now it’s up to us to walk in that truth.

  • In this powerful fifth installment of The Cross series, we explore the profound assurance that the cross of Christ gives us, our salvation and God’s unwavering faithfulness. Throughout this series, we have journeyed through the purpose, power, and significance of the cross in our lives, touching on themes of reconciliation, adoption, judgment, and authority.

This week, we delve into Paul’s teachings, particularly in the book of Romans, where he passionately unpacks the unifying work of Christ. Against the backdrop of division in the early Roman church, where Jewish and Gentile believers struggled to reconcile their faith traditions, Paul presents the gospel as the great equalizer, emphasizing that we are one in Christ.

Through biblical truths and historical context, we uncover how the cross is not just a symbol but an eternal assurance that God’s love and faithfulness will never fail. Join us as we reflect on Romans and its theological depth, reinforcing that our hope, salvation, and identity are anchored in the cross of Jesus Christ.

  • In this episode, we dive into the powerful truth of Matthew 28:18-20, where Jesus declares, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” We explore how Christ, through His humanity, came to reclaim the dominion lost by the first Adam and gave it back to us. Drawing from scriptures like Mark 16:17-18 and Hebrews 2:14, we unpack how believers are equipped with spiritual authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, and walk in fearless faith.

You’ll hear how understanding our identity as God’s children allows us to break free from fear and limitations, embrace divine protection, and live boldly as representatives of Christ. Through practical examples and testimonies, this episode reminds us that the authority of heaven is ours to access, enabling us to transform lives and communities as the disciples did in the early church.

  • Part 3 of The Cross dives into a powerful and transformative truth: the cross is the good news of God’s judgment. While the idea of judgment often brings fear and a sense of condemnation, this episode explores how the cross turns judgment into a message of hope and redemption.

Through Christ’s sacrifice, the sentence of guilt and death is replaced with the gift of eternal life. It’s at the cross where God’s perfect justice, boundless mercy, and unfailing grace meet, offering us reconciliation with Him, adoption into His family, and the gift of righteousness we could never earn on our own.

Together, we’ll reflect on the profound truths of 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Romans 6:23, uncovering why the cross is more than a symbol of judgment, it’s the ultimate sign of God’s love, hope, and joy for all who believe.

Whether you’re seeking deeper understanding, reassurance, or encouragement, this episode is a reminder that through the cross, we are set free, made whole, and called to live in the light of God’s unshakable grace.

  • In this thought-provoking continuation of The Cross series, we delve deeper into the transformative work of Jesus on the cross and its implications for how we live as believers today. Building on Part 1, which explored the reconciliation between humanity and God, Part 2 shifts focus to what it means to live as a people set apart for God’s purposes in a broken world.

This episode unpacks how the cross is not only a symbol of salvation but also a call to holy living. We explore the tension of being “in the world but not of the world,” navigating challenges while staying true to our divine identity. Through rich theological insights, personal reflections, and practical applications, we discuss:

    * Identity in Christ: Understanding how being reconciled through the cross redefines who we are and gives us a mission as God’s representatives.

    * Living Set Apart: What holiness looks like in everyday life and how it’s less about perfection and more about surrender, alignment with God’s will, and reflecting His character.

    * Challenges of Reconciliation: Wrestling with the realities of being reconciled to a holy God while still living in a world that pulls us in different directions.

    * Community and Kingdom Work: How the cross unites us not just to God but to one another, calling us to love, serve, and uplift others as part of God’s kingdom.

Through this episode, listeners are reminded that the cross is not merely a past event but an ongoing reality that shapes our lives. It challenges us to embrace both the beauty and the weight of being reconciled and set apart, recognizing that this calling is fueled by grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Whether you’re new to faith or have walked with Christ for years, this episode offers deep encouragement and practical wisdom to help you walk confidently in your identity as a child of God, set apart for His glory.

  • This sermon, titled "Cross Part 1: Reconciled in Christ" focuses on the central theme for 2025: The Cross. Vivian begins by emphasizing the impossibility of attaining perfection (100%) on our own, likening it to an exam with a pass mark of 100% that only Jesus can achieve on our behalf. This analogy underscores the significance of the cross as the ultimate expression of Christ taking our failings and granting us righteousness through His sacrifice.

The sermon explores the offense of the cross, noting that while the world accepts God’s love, provision, and mercy, it struggles with the cross’s message of sin, judgment, and holiness. The cross demands a response, often dividing true believers from those who claim faith superficially. The message challenges listeners to place the cross at the center of their lives, thoughts, and actions.

In this transformative episode, we explore what it means to be reconciled in Christ and how this reconciliation shapes our identity and relationships in 2025. Drawing from Colossians 1:22-23 and 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, we are reminded that God has called us holy, blameless, and above reproach—not in our own sight, but in His.

Tune in to discover how reconciliation with God, people, and the Church positions us to walk in holiness, exercise our spiritual gifts, and serve as ambassadors for Christ in the year ahead.

  • In this episode of our Miracles series, we explore the profound truth that what we call miracles are simply God’s way of life. Often, we seek extraordinary signs because we feel disconnected, but Jesus showed us that miracles are a lifestyle rooted in faith and intimacy with God.

In this episode, we delve into the power of unwavering faith and the importance of holding on to God's promises, even when the journey feels long. Drawing from scriptures like Numbers 23:19, Psalms 55, and Isaiah 40:31, we explore how God remains faithful to His word, calling us to adopt childlike faith and trust in His timing.

We reflect on the promise of the Messiah, tracing it from Genesis to its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Through scripture and powerful examples, we’re reminded that God is a faithful promise-keeper who never fails. No matter how long the wait or challenging the journey, His word will come to pass.

Through heartfelt personal stories—like speaking life over a fruitless tree and seeing it flourish, or leading a small group that grew to impact countless lives—we’re reminded of the significance of being faithful with what’s in our hands. Whether in ministry, our jobs, or studies, God looks for a posture of trust and reliance on Him.

  • This episode focuses on the divine announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ, a pivotal moment that ended 400 years of prophetic silence. Drawing on biblical narratives, we explore how God’s grand promises—delivered through angelic visitations to Mary and Joseph—sparked immense expectations of a conquering Messiah who would deliver his people.

From the angel Gabriel's proclamation to Mary of her divine favor and role as the mother of the Savior, to the dream given to Joseph confirming Jesus as "Yahweh saves," the episode unpacks the extraordinary ways God chose to reveal His plan. Yet, the contrast between these heavenly announcements and the humble circumstances of Jesus' birth highlights a profound truth: God's miracles often appear in the most ordinary wrappings.

Through relatable modern-day analogies, this episode challenges us to recognize the glory of God's promises even when they come in unexpected forms. It’s an inspiring reflection on how the long-awaited Messiah fulfilled not just prophecy but also the deepest groanings of a world desperate for salvation.

  • In this installment of the Remember This series, we journey further through the book of Malachi, diving into the profound call to live in reverence and awe of God. At a time when the people of Israel questioned God’s justice and wondered if their faithfulness mattered, the Lord reminded them—and us—of His ultimate authority and eternal justice.

Malachi 3:16 beautifully captures a moment of faith amidst doubt:

"Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored His name."

This week, we reflect on what it means to live in the fear of the Lord—not as terror, but as a deep, abiding respect and trust in His sovereignty. Through trials and uncertainties, we are called to honor Him with our actions, words, and lives, trusting that He is always watching, always just, and always good.

Let’s come together to remember that the fear of the Lord is not only the beginning of wisdom—it’s a profound invitation to intimacy with our Creator. Join us in drawing closer to Him this week.
