Spotify Wrapped has arrived for 2024. For some, it's more exciting than Christmas, whilst others are alleging a conspiracy of sorts influenced the results.
In this edition of the Music News - and our last episode of the year - we unpack the results of Spotify's annual mass data release, investigate the kinda credible conspiracy accusations coming out of the woodwork, and reflect on the year that was in the Homebrewed studio.
Enjoy! And thank you for your company this year. We'll see ya in 2025.

In this slightly more coherent edition of the Music News, we introduce you to the mundane stories of our lives before diving into some more serious stuff.
Funding for music therapy sessions for NDIS participants is set to be slashed under proposed changes from the federal government. We run the rule over that decision and question how the government failed to find an adequate "evidentiary standard" when it comes to music therapy's benefits.
And we can't just sit back and watch one of the biggest recent stories in global music unfold without chiming in. So please, indulge us: Kendrick V Drake looks to be making its way into the courtroom after the latter filed two separate lawsuits in response to Kendrick Lamar's viral diss track 'Not Like Us'. This one could really shake up how we understand the global music industry. Or it's all BS. Either way, we're entertained.

The headline is satirical, don't @ us without listening!
In this edition of the Music News, Cam and Eamonn discuss various topics ranging from holiday chaos with a Christmas tree incident caused by Cameron's cat, Odin, to the complexities of measuring furniture dimensions. We then delve into the science of music, exploring how our brains predict melodies and the role of brainwaves in this process. We delve into the neuroscience of music, exploring how uncertainty in melodies is processed in the brain, and talk about the differences in brain activity between musicians and non-musicians when predicting melodies.
The conversation then shifts to the challenges facing the music festival industry, particularly the impact of artist fees and festival cancellations. We analyse the changing landscape of music events and the importance of having a clear identity for festivals to succeed.

Fletcher Kent sits down with us in this one right as he prepares to release his first new music in almost five years.
For Fletcher, this break has been an absolutely necessary step for his evolution as a creator. Whilst his artist name has been tweaked, his sound has evolved, and his new music sits on a fresh streaming profile, what's abundantly clear from our conversation is that this is a case of evolution, not revolution.
Fletcher Kent's debut single I'll Be is out everywhere, right now. Get behind another Central Coast artist doing great things.
