And while I get a lot of listener questions about ALL KINDS of things, on this weekâs episode, Iâm digging into some specifics when it comes to pricing and selling your art.
Weâll talk through questions like:
Should you use artists platforms that promise to âdo it all for youâ?
How can you effectively price your art (so it sells for all itâs worth)?
How do you deal with scammers when selling art?
And of course, plenty more.

The number one thing holding you back in your art? Self-doubt. That feeling of not-enoughness. That wondering if youâre even a real artist because you didnât go to art school, you donât have all the fancy supplies, youâre painting at your kitchen tableâŠI could go on.
Itâs time to tell that voice to take a hike, yâall. Our work as artists is too important to be shut down and held back by imposter syndrome.
In this episode of The Honest Art Podcast, weâll dig into things like:
Why the fugly stage of your art isnât a reflection of you as an artist
How feelings of worthiness impact your art career (business-wise AND creatively)
A few tools to help you break free from imposter syndrome as an artist
Letâs get you back to the canvas, my friend.

Are brand photos great for an artist? You bet. Don't believe me? I've brought on my own brand photographer, Alicia Leigh Rios, to help me out!
Alicia has an incredible talent for bringing out the best in others, and really knows how to make even the most camera-shy people feel confident (thatâs me!). But I didnât just bring her on the show to tell you how good she is. I brought her here to help you see why you, too, need brand photos as an artist!

I used to think that because I was introverted, there was no reason to have an art community. I already had the support of friends and family â wasnât that enough?
The truth is, it wasnât. Because of us artists? We NEED people who innately understand the creative process and can provide us with constructive feedback to improve our work. We arenât meant to do this alone.
In this episode, Iâll share more about how joining an art community helped me, and how it can also help you overcome creative ruts and take advantage of new opportunities to propel your career forward.

I probably donât have to tell you this, butâŠsocial media isnât giving you the full story.
Itâs really easy to play the comparison game when you see people (successfully) selling their art online. Iâm guilty of it, too.
The truth is, most artists donât JUST sell on social media. More than likely, theyâre using multiple channels to show their work to potential buyers. Itâs never JUST about posting a picture of your work and watching the bids roll in.
So, what about you? Are you relying solely on social media to sell your work? Well, thenâŠitâs time to shake it up! Tune in to get a few different ideas for diversifying your artist's income.
P.S. This episode is full of some of my best tips for selling your work. Once youâre done listening (and have a better idea of what you want to do next), check out the FULL show notes library to learn more about each idea. I have TONS of content for you there: https://jodieking.com/podcast/

Art validates the human experience. Whether you believe it or not, so does your work (yes, even if youâre just painting for fun!).
Every piece has a story to tell and someone to connect to, so we canât be afraid to get vulnerable when making art. Someone out there needs the raw, real version of what you have to say.
Your art matters, really. In this episode, Iâll show you all the ways you can discover how it makes an impact.

Talking about your art â why is it always SO difficult? Canât you just tell people that the piece is what it is, and leave them to admire what they see?
Not quite. While this strategy can work if youâre just having fun with art (nothing wrong with that, by the way), if you want to SELL it, youâll need to know how to articulate your WHY.
Does the thought of talking about your work terrify you? Make you sweat? Tune in to this episode â Iâve got a few methods that can help break the ice.

Being an artist is vulnerable work. Slinging paint away in the studio for hours on end, trying to pull whatâs in your mind out onto the canvas⊠It can become heavy after a while.
Thatâs why we need a community of fellow artists to support us, which is part of why I created my Studio Elite artist mastermind. We arenât meant to walk this artistâs path alone.
Wondering how an artist mastermind could change your approach to your art (or your art biz)? Not sure a mastermind is right for you? Listen to what current Studio Elite members have to say about the community theyâve built and what else theyâve taken away from the program. Theyâve had some truly amazing transformations â and theyâve built artist connections that will last for years to come..

I didnât start painting because of its mental health benefits. However, itâs been an incredible benefit to my life. From the first painting I finished to slinging paint yesterday morning, art always seems to pull the deepest thoughts and feelings from the back of my mind.
Art helps us move emotions and stress out of our bodies. It helps us break past mental blocks and gives us the freedom and space to be our most authentic selves. Art is healing.
But have you ever wondered how? And why should it matter to you as an artist?
Thatâs what Iâm answering in this episode of the Honest Art Podcast!
