  • In a world that tends to lean towards chaos, we as individuals can get overwhelmed with all that is put on to us, our experiences, and the spaces we try to mold ourselves into. While it’s important to lean into the change, it’s also important to stay grounded. But what does it even mean to “be grounded” ?

In this episode, Cynthia and Renee explore that meaning, how they noticed they aren’t grounded, and what it takes to recenter themselves.

As always, this is the start of a conversation and our hope as the hosts of this podcast is to extend the conversation to our listeners.

How do you stay grounded when you begin to feel unsteady?

    Stay Sweet!

  • Fashion is a creative outlet. We can use it as a means to fit in, stand out, or even get to know ourselves by exploring how we present our physical form. In this episode, we focus on our ongoing journey with how we dress and the changes we've gone through in terms of our attitude towards clothes, style evolution, and even some clothing choices we regret (mainly the early 2010s xD).

We focus on the artistic and fun side of fashion in this episode. For a conversation around the environmental implications of clothing consumption, check out our episode titled "Fast Fashion."

    Questions for our listeners:

    Share your favorite thrift store.

What are other ways you stay inspired?

To other Army, what's your favorite BTS outfit?

  • Humans have been trying to make sense of the world since the beginning-- some look to western religions, others to science, and many look inward to find purpose. One way our ancestors tried to make sense of our existence was by studying the stars. Today, we call this belief system Astrology, or how the cosmos (planets, stars, etc.) have influence on us as people.

In this episode, the HoneyDipped team will discuss our personal knowledge and experiences with Astrology. We've invited the fiery Amal and grounded Alina to join us in this talk as well. We talk charts, relationships, and how our signs manifest in our behaviors.

    What's your sign?

  • Tune in while Cynthia and Renee discuss the devil’s lettuce. We cover everything from the budding cannabis industry to our first toke to the origins of the term “marijuana.”

Cannabis is a broad topic, and it can be a quite the feat to cover every aspect of it. So while we touch a few points here, we might’ve forgot to mention a few things. For example: Who we would sesh with if we could smoke with anyone? (Rihanna if you’re reading this pls know Renee would very much like to smoke with you)

    Enjoy Responsibly!

  • Birth Control is a heavy topic and sometimes its hard to find a space where you feel safe enough to talk about it.

While birth control is becoming safer and more available, the stigma surrounding still makes it seem inaccessible. In this episode, we open up with the history of birth control. We also go through the different types of birth control, and end with our personal experiences with it.

It's important to have agency over your own body, and part of that is being informed.

  • It's not real.

In this episode of HoneyDipped, we dive into the idea of the treachery of images, and how social media can distort our idea of reality. Based off the painting of the same name, we interpreted that the concept of treachery of images means that a picture of something is not the real thing, no matter how realistic the picture looks.

Curated images and personas on platforms like Instagram project an unrealistic standard for our mere mortal selves. The constant pressure to live up to these standards can have a huge impact on our self worth, stress level, ability to think for ourselves, etc. We discuss our experiences with this and how curating your consumption of media is becoming more and more important.

  • "I start my day by asking myself what do I want from today? What do I want to accomplish today?"

Some of us are night owls, some morning people, and some of us are early afternooners. Regardless of whichever one of these you are, it's important to establish a reset routine so you can come back to yourself each day. On this episode of Honey Dipped, we each share our reset routines: Cynthia favoring a night-time reset, whereas Renee favors a morning reset.

We weigh the pros and cons between morning and nighttime routines and why we prioritize one over the other.

How do you reset for the new day?

  • Fashion is fun. It's a way to express yourself, and with the multitude of clothing options out there now, you can truly feel unique without ever picking  up a sewing needle.

However, the rise of fast fashion and trend of overconsumption are having major negative impacts on laborers, the environment, and the mental and financial well-being of the consumer. In this episode, we dive into these effects and how big corporations with economic power take advantage of the situation to make money. We also discuss our relationship with fashion and clothes, how that has changed over time, and what we're doing now to be more conscious consumers.

  • "I wanted to give up... because I didn't know what to do"

Graduating college is a huge milestone, but after that you're expected to immediately get a job. The transition isn't so easy. It's a confusing time as we figure out how to be "productive" humans while searching for an inkling of meaning in the work, hoping to apply the knowledge we've been working hard to accumulate over the years.

Join us as we talk through this experience with a few off-topic rants about grocery shopping on weekends, commuting on public transit, and a couple others.

  • "Sometimes you just gotta take a step back and say 'wtf?'"

For the first episode of HoneyDipped, we felt that it would be helpful for us to define what self-care means to us personally. There are so many external voices (like the internet) constantly bombarding us with directions on how to properly care for ourselves. As a result, the idea of self care can be conflicting or seemingly shallow in nature. The truth of the matter: what it means to care for you depends on what YOU think. Only you know what's truly best for you. *SEE NOTES*

*NOTES: HoneyDipped has been a work in progress for some time now. This initial episode was recorded a few months ago, so some personal details (i.e. that we're still in school, job situations) are a little out of date. However, the ideas we express still ring true so we felt that there was little need to rerecord.
