  • “Young people have such powerful voices in society, but they're also consistently underestimated. I mean, young people are your customers, your future workforce, the shapers of future policy, the heirs to the planet, and now the architects of the climate movement,” says Natalie Kyriacou OAM, CEO of My Green World and PwC’s Business Development Lead for ESG (Environment, Social & Governance).

In this conversation, we’ll talk about youth-focused environmental conservation, the intersection of environmental and social issues, and elevating diverse voices in climate conversations.

  • “Where I cling to hope is that when you face a period of such disruption, what quite often happens is that people come together in local communities and find their own solutions and find their own way to be resilient and to create the world that they want to see” says Trewin Restorick, founder and previous CEO of the charity Hubbub UK.

Hubbub transforms the way environmental messages are communicated by bringing people and organisations together as a force for good. • “It’s important to foster ocean empathy in as many ways as we can,” says Josheena Naggea, an ocean advocate and doctoral candidate at Stanford University.

Her community-based research focuses on small-scale fisheries, protected area management, and the valorization of natural and cultural heritage in marine governance in the Western Indian Ocean. She has most recently worked on assessing the compounding social impacts of COVID-19 and the 2020 Wakashio oil spill disaster on coastal communities in Mauritius, her home country.

Josheena is interested in understanding people-nature connections and how that influences pro-ecological behaviour, which refers to the actions that people take to either reduce environmental harm or actively help restore the natural environment.
