Can I remind you today of some beautiful things about God?
Listen to these truths from Psalm 103 and worship Him with me, wherever you are.
He forgives all my sins. He heals my diseases. He redeems my life from the pit. He crowns me with love. He crowns me with compassion. He satisfies my desires with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's. He is compassionate, he's gracious, he's slow to anger. He is abounding in love. He does not treat us as our sins deserve. He does not repay us according to our sin.
What a list. Do you know this God? If you don't, you can know Him today. Who would not want to know this kind of God?

God’s promises to us are like gems we find all throughout the Bible.
They are reminders, not only about what He does and will do, but about who He is. They are about the deep goodness of His character and faithfulness.
When we have an international evangelistic festival in some distant country, it can be exhausting. I sometimes feel weary and weak, and inadequate to share a strong Gospel message in multiple events.
But there are promises of God I can turn to which encourage me. In Isaiah 40 we read: “(God) gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” A couple of verses later it goes on to say, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
What power there is in those words! They remind me to trust God to provide everything I need in the moment. You can trust Him too, with all that you are facing today.
Remember, there is hope with God.

Is your heart pure, clean?
Mine isn’t. I'm consistently surprised at some of the things I feel and think… some of the things I say and do. And I stop myself and I think, “Wendy, what is wrong with you?”
But the words in Psalm 51 continue to be my prayer, Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
If you feel impure or unclean, come back to Him today. Ask Him to forgive you… to continue to create in you a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit.
That just means to persevere in wanting what He wants for you. God is patient. We're on a journey with Him.
Don't give up now.

When someone upsets you, do you find yourself quickly becoming angry?
There is a time and place for anger – even Jesus got angry so we know that in itself, anger is not a sin. It can lead to sin, though.
You can ask God to make you more like Him – to give you patience in place of a quick temper. Patience is not easy, but it’s a skill you can develop with practice, and with God’s help.
It’s easier to be patient with others when you pause and remember how patient God has been with you. Think about all the times God has forgiven you, helped you, guided you. He hasn’t forced you to live up to His expectations all at once. He leads you along step by step.
Next time you find yourself getting angry, pause and ask God to give you patience and His heart of compassion for the person with whom you’re angry.
“The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” Psalm 103:8

Do you need help today?
Our God is a friend to the weak and a refuge for those in need. If you know God, you are in good hands.
He has compassion toward those who call out to Him for help. He is the God who is with us – who is willing and able to help.
In Psalm 54 we read: “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” That is a truth I have known for years and have experienced very vividly on several occasions.
There was the plane crash I and my family were in. The plane broke into three parts, but not a single person died. And there have been times of grief, most recently when my father died last year. There have been misunderstandings in close relationships, hurt feelings, parenting pressures.
In all the struggles and choices and pain, I know that God is my help. He will sustain me. I invite you to get to know this wonderful God today.

Do you remember when you first fell in love with Jesus, that He was real and He loved you… that He'd forgiven you?
Do you remember?
Maybe today, you've lost some of your joy, the pressures of life, maybe even sin, or an addiction that is stealing your hope. Maybe you've simply drifted away as the years have gone by, and you realize that you miss Him, your first love.
Why don't you pray this prayer with me, today? A prayer of David in Psalm 51. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation. You can ask God to restore this joy to you—the joy of His salvation.
And no matter your circumstances, He is with you by the power and the presence of His Spirit.

Have you ever wondered if God really wants to be with you?
Doesn’t He have more important people to be with, or more urgent things to attend to?
No – God doesn’t work that way, but it is sometimes hard to believe that the God of the universe cares about us and wants to be close to us.
The truth is, He wants it so badly that He gave His Son over to death on a cross.
In 2 Corinthians 5, we read: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
Jesus took our sin punishment so that we could become clean. The sin that was keeping us separated from God could be removed and we could be close to Him.
This reality can be yours. Receive God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and you too can be with Him, under His care, freed from sin, and thriving in His love.

Has God done marvelous things in your life?
Has He done things that when you take a moment to think about these things, to remember, do you marvel at His ways? I do.
Sometimes I think of the things I fearfully prayed for my children, or situations I was in, or even who I was… and how God has so kindly changed me and helped me and I marvel. I'm amazed.
Maybe you're where I was, and you wonder if God even hears your prayers. Does He know your fear? How will you change, or how can this situation change? I want to encourage you today—press on, press in. Keep looking to Him, putting your faith in Him alone.
He does things His way, and His way is always good.
"For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation." Psalm 100:5

The words, “I don’t love you anymore,” can cause a deep wound with lasting scars.
It is so painful to hear that from a partner or spouse.
Those are words you will never hear from God. He never takes His love away from you.
His love for you is strong and will never be broken. In Romans 8 we read, “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Isn’t it wonderful to know there’s nothing you could possibly do to make God stop loving you? Isn’t it comforting to know that no matter how human love falls short and fails, God’s love never will? It’s like the world’s strongest rope, tying you to Him forever!
Whenever you feel ashamed, or regret a bad choice you’ve made, whenever someone in your life lets you down – you can rejoice in God’s unchanging, unbreakable love for you.

God has a wonderful purpose for your life.
You get to participate as He enacts His will in your life and the lives of those around you.
And you don’t need to be perfect before God can work through you. All you need to offer Him is a willing and surrendered heart.
In Luke chapter 1, we see how Mary responded when an angel told her she was highly favored—chosen to help bring the Son of God into our world. At first, she was confused. After all, she was just a poor young woman—no one fancy, no one important. But after listening to the angel’s message, this is what she said:
I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.
Believe it! If you will offer yourself to the Lord, holding nothing back, He will lead you into the purposes of His kingdom. He has a tremendous plan for your life. YOUR life matters. Give Him your whole life and do it today.

There's a story in the book of John about a woman brought to Jesus.
She's caught in the act of adultery, and an angry group of leaders bring her to Jesus, and they accuse her.
We're told that they didn't really care about her, they were just testing Jesus. And, of course, Jesus' response is so perfect and beautiful. He defends her, and He reveals their hypocrisy.
They came angry at her, but instead they leave angry at Him. So angry at Him, in fact, that they eventually murder Him.
Isaiah tells us that God laid on Jesus the sins of us all. The punishment that should be mine has been put on Jesus. This is the way of grace. This is the way of the cross. This is our hope.
"All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all." Isaiah 53:6

Have you ever read Jesus’ genealogy?
It’s in the Word of God, Matthew chapter 1. The author traces Jesus’ ancestors all the way back to Abraham. And there’s something very unusual about this list—there are several women included! And many of them of unsavory and humble background.
The author departed from the usual way of tracing lineage (through men, at the time) and included these women for a purpose. It demonstrates to us that, no matter who you are, and no matter what your circumstances, God will use your life to enact His plan for the world.
Your life matters to God. Every bit of it. And when you give your life to Him, it becomes woven to this bigger story of His redemption.
Will you surrender to His plan and His purposes, and let Him—the author of all life—be the One to write your story?
Remember, there is always hope with God.

Does your life feel spent, worn out, used up?
There is a beautiful image in the book of Ezekiel where God brings dead bones to life. He breathes His spirit on dry bones and they become a vast army, an impossible thing, a miracle.
But it's an image of exactly what God can and wants to do in your life. He is in the business of bringing life from death.
Ask Him for help. Cry out to Him. Acknowledge your need for Him. Why don't you pray with me? Lord, I'm broken. My life is full of dry bones. Would you breathe your spirit of life on me right now? In the name of Jesus, amen. Amen.

Have you ever been afraid to draw close to God?
Maybe you’ve felt your sin is too bad to be forgiven or that you don’t have anything to offer God.
Well, in Luke chapter 7, we’re told that during the middle of a dinner party hosted by the religious leaders of the day, a sinful woman came, uninvited, and she began to wash Jesus’ feet- it says, with her own tears, and with expensive perfume.
The religious leaders were horrified! But guess what—Jesus was not horrified. He said to them…
When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me even water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
That’s very moving to me. He refused to send her away, and He said that her act of love was better than anything they had done for Him!
Today is the day to draw close and let God into the deepest places of your heart. Go to Him in prayer, and trust He will not send you away.

What is weighing on your heart today?
No matter what it is, Jesus cares about it.The things that cause you mental or emotional pain, they matter to Jesus because YOU matter to Jesus!
Luke chapter 7 tells about Jesus happening upon a procession- a funeral. There was a dead boy being carried out of town, followed by his mother and a group of mourners. And it says this:
When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. Jesus couldn’t bear to see her distress—He responded with love, and raised the boy from the dead! …the boy sat up and began to talk! And Jesus returned him to his mother.
So, friend, what is troubling your heart? Bring it to Jesus and ask Him to restore you today. His compassion is for YOU.

It's easy to understand ourselves if we are a victim of abuse or pain, but sometimes it's more difficult to see ourselves as a victimizer.
As we read about the life of Jesus, we see His kind love for the victim.
But the truth is, Jesus also came for the victimizer, the one inflicting the suffering and the need.
In fact, the most famous words Jesus ever said were said to one of these kinds of men, Nicodemus. And to this man, Jesus said the words in John 3.16, "God so loved the world that he gave his Son that whoever believes in him would not die, but have eternal life."
Jesus came for you. He loves you, and He offers you life.

What was Jesus thinking about just before He died on the cross?
We can’t know everything that was on His mind, of course, but there is one thing that rose up in His thoughts. We see it in the Word of God.
It was just moments before He breathed His last and it was this: Jesus wanted to make sure there was someone to care for His mother, after He was gone.
Even as life was fading out of His body, and pain was assailing Him, He did not forget about her needs. It says this,
When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
If you have any needs today, bring them all to Jesus in prayer. He cares about your well-being. He will never forget about you. He will never abandon you. And He might just use you to help someone else in their need.

Are you defined by your past?
None of us can escape our past, things we've done, maybe even things that have been done to us.
Have you ever laid in bed at night, overcome with memories, things you cannot change, things you've done?
There is hope. When you walk with God, you're defined by your future. Your future is more powerful than your past.
There is a beautiful image in Ezekiel chapter 37 of dry bones coming to life by the breath and the spirit of God. What was impossible is possible. We're told it is a vast army in a valley of death.
Have you allowed God's spirit to speak life to your dry bones, to what was dead? He is able, and He will, and He wants to.

What do you think Jesus wants from you today?
Maybe you’re thinking, He wants me to sing worship songs, He wants me to pray, He wants me to serve. All of those are wonderful. But what if Jesus simply wants to be with you?
Luke chapter 10 tells us about two sisters, they were with Jesus at a dinner party. Martha rushed to make everything perfect for Jesus, but Mary sat at His feet listening carefully to Jesus. Martha was upset that her sister wasn’t helping! But Jesus said to her,
My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about, and Mary has discovered it.
Jesus wants to be with you today. Yes, YOU! He wants you to pause from everything distracting you and just sit at His feet. Will you?

What kind of people did Jesus hang out with?
Do you believe that He wants to spend time with you? The Bible tells us that He often traveled from town to town, sharing the Good News with His friends: twelve disciples. But that’s not all! Luke chapter 8 tells us:
He took his twelve disciples with him, along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases. Among them were Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.
I wonder—if you have let your past hold you back from an intimate friendship with Jesus?
If so, pray today and ask God to speak this truth to your heart: Nothing in the world can separate you from the love of God.
You are not disqualified from a relationship with Jesus. He is the One who forgives and washes away our sin—as far as the East is from the West.
Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau.
