Steph & Allison get into week 11 of The Artist's Way - hard to believe we are already approaching the end! This week brings us a discussion around our artistic autonomy - the ways in which we nurture and accept ourselves as artists. Redefining success for ourselves, getting into our bodies, and creating space that reinforces artistic growth - these are the key themes for this week.
But first, the future - do we want to know about it? And, as a continuation from last episode, more political rage!! The girls are hating the news around the election and take a moment or two to go off a little bit. Allison is not losing hope and Steph is keeping her underarms smooth - its the little things, right?

Steph & Allison dive into week 10 of The Artist's Way discussing the ways we can be ambushed on our pursuit of creative recovery. The ways our artist stays blocked with creativity issues, addictions that stifle our progress, times of creative drought, and fame and competition that has us too concerned with the approval of others over approval of ourselves.
But first, where are we looking for reassurance from our future selves? And, Allison is soaking up the extra hour of sleep this weekend brought us, but before that things were rough. Steph finds joy in her lunch and once again stirs the home-decor pot with another design choice she hates. The girls go on a small political rant to get us started - fun!

Steph & Allison are back with week 9 of The Artist's Way! Discussing the internal blocks we face when rediscovering our creativity, the girls talk fear, enthusiasm as it compares to self-discipline, creative u-turns, and ways we can blast through blocks.
But first, they would do anything for love, but they won't do... ? And, Allison has a moment of positive self-reflection then calls out one of the ways in which society needs to step it up big time. Steph shares her favorite thing about Sundays (and any other day she can make it happen), while lamenting on what it takes to get Eras Tour tickets. The girls get real Swiftie in the first half of today's ep, but promptly make up for it with Artist's Way insights!!

Steph & Allison get into week 8 of The Artist's Way and explore the ways time can become an excuse to taking creative risks. The key themes of survival, power, gain disguised as loss, age and time, and taking the right next actions make for a interesting discussion where the ladies draw comparisons to how it all shows up in their own lives.
But first, bankruptcy! And, Allison lets her spooky love shine while raging against inconsiderate jerks at the grocery store. Steph shares a clean candle rec and whines about one of life's difficulties.
We are sorry to say there will be no new episode next week, October 24th, but we'll be back October 31st!

We're back with week 7 of The Artist's Way! Steph & Allison discuss what it takes to recover a sense of connection. Connection to ourselves, others, the world around us - it takes listening, letting go of the idea of perfectionism, taking risks, and learning lessons from jealousy.
But first, flavors! Which do we think encapsulates us? And, Allison is on a brand new life journey that comes with highs and lows. Steph reminds us all to pause for a moment of clarity... of the nasal passages, and expresses a growing frustration with a wild animal.
The ladies also get into a topical discussion: the Diddy scandal and the domino effect it has on the music industry, society, and what it might be distracting us from. Moments like this have us asking what the point of all this is, and while that we can't answer, we do know that we're here, and since we are, we must nurture ourselves in order to do any kind of good.

Steph & Allison get into week 6 of The Artist's Way - halfway through! This week is centered around abundance - our ideas of the meaning behind the Great Creator, what the universe wants for us, and how to redefine the way we think about abundance. We're also reframing how we look at luxury and scrutinizing the way we spend our money.
But first, superpowers - namely the ones we want no part of. And, Allison reminds Steph of the joy she is missing out on by not being able to go to The Eras Tour, highlighting the experience of live music. Steph is thrilled with the new iOS update allowing her to use native messaging with her husband again, and shares her take on a home design trend.
We are sorry to say there will be no new episode next week, October 3rd (Mean Girls Day!!), but we'll be back October 10th.

Steph & Allison discuss Week 5 of The Artist's Way. Discussing the limits we impose on ourselves and our tendency to fall victim to negative patterning. Scarcity thinking keeps us trapped - we are afraid our luck will run out. We must remember the universe is limitless, and extends itself to us. Changing our thought patterns to believe this will allow us to tap into our creativity more effectively. Then there is the virtue trap, putting the needs of others before our own to give us a sense of "being good" which is no good for our wellbeing and keeps us from taking action.
But first, what songs will play when we enter a room? And, Allison is giving wandering librarian while also having an existential crisis. Steph channels childlike wonder and expresses concern for people who don't know the right way to place a toilet paper roll.

Steph & Allison discuss Week 4 of The Artist's Way. Diving deep into honest changes, the main theme of this week highlights facing our denials and learning who we are and what we need in order to fulfill true self-expression. This week also encourages reading deprivation - aka avoiding any and all reading, TV, and social media. Listen to hear how the girls handle facing their entertainment addiction (spoiler alert - not good).
But first, an irrational moment of anger. And, Allison is turning into a pumpkin and calling to take down the NRA. Steph expresses the joys of being alone and the importance of girl time while calling to take down big Halloween.

Steph & Allison discuss Week 3 of The Artist's Way. Anger, synchronicity, shame, dealing with criticism, and growth - how are these things impacting our ability to be unblocked artists? The girls get into it all with their perspective after a check-in from Week 2.
*We misspeak at the start of the episode and say we're on week 2 - OOPS!
But first, what could they not fathom doing as a career? And, Allison is finding inspiration around every corner while groceries have her (and all of us) in a chokehold. Steph describes her newfound love for a beloved cocktail with her take on why it took so long for her to get on board, and promptly goes off on a home design choice she simply does not understand.

Steph & Allison get into week two of The Artist's Way. Before they dive in, the girls do a check-in from week one. Are they consistent with their morning pages? What was their artist date? Along with all of the things they found had an impact from week 1. They then discuss the themes of week two from the book coupled with their perspective and the things that hit. Going sane, poisonous playmates, crazymakers, skepticism, and attention - how do these things show up in doing the work of The Artist's Way?
But first, a medieval career path. And, Allison has a game recommendation for date night, or game night with friends - a real who's who of who's that if you will. Steph tells the tale of being treated as a VIP at one of her favorite spots, but also touches on one of the woes of being a woman.

This week Steph & Allison get into defining personal style! A topic near and dear to Steph's heart and a source of low-key anxiety for Allison. They discuss the philosophies of stylist Allison Bornstein who's approach to personal style is aligned with the ethos of this podcast - fashion as an act of self-awareness, another area of knowing what we like to be in touch with ourselves. They get into where it all began for Steph, why Allison's outlook on style has never been confident, defining Steph's personal style according to Allison Bornstein, and in-real-time they come up with a direction for Allison (McCarthy)! A more light-hearted follow-up to last week's check-in, the girls have fun with fashion.
They also get into the topic of how we present ourselves on social media: are we exemplifying self-love? or are we exemplifying self-interest?

Steph & Allison get real this week, and discuss the ways they feel they are falling short in the goals they've talked about so far. Trying to find balance between being honest with themselves and where they might be being too hard on themselves, they open up on their thoughts and feelings on how hard it is to prioritize yourself and your needs in a world that praises productivity. We are the only ones who can change our lives, so where are there excuses that essentially mean we don't actually want to change, as our excuses are where we are comfortable?
But first, Steph talks about women checking her out and Allison is hoeing outside in the sun. And, some unexpected moments for both of the gals: pure community blesses Steph on the streets of Boston while Allison has a moment of release with her personal trainer.
