  • Shortcuts are an illusion and if you want your passion to lead to success, you need to put in the work. But, actor David Dastmalchain notes, more than that you need to fully realize what it is you're trying to achieve if you want others to follow you on the quest to make that idea a reality.

Actor, writer, and producer David Dastmalchian has had supporting roles in a number of superhero franchises: he portrayed Thomas Schiff in The Dark Knight (2008), Kurt and Veb in the Ant-Man franchise, Abra Kadabra in the CW's The Flash, and Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad (2021). Dastmalchian has appeared in David Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return, as well as three films directed by Denis Villeneuve: Prisoners (2013), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), and Dune (2021). Although he is best known for his work as a character actor, Dastmalchian had leading roles in the 2014 semi-autobiographical film Animals, which he wrote, and the 2023 horror film Late Night with the Devil, which he produced. He is also set to portray Mr. 3 in the Netflix series One Piece. His roots in theater and on-screen performances have informed his narrative style, giving his characters depth and a compelling sense of reality. Dastmalchian's exceptional ability to create complex, relatable characters has made him a force to be reckoned with in the comic industry. He is best known for his work on "Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter," a series praised for its rich storytelling, unique characters, and blend of horror and dark humor elements. His unique approach to genre storytelling earned him a devoted fan base and critical acclaim.

  • Whatever shape they may take or media it manifests in, success in pretty much every collaborative art form in existence boils down to the same basic principles. Generosity. Patience. And as genius guitarist Owen Barry knows, filling the role that's needed most to maintain harmony, rather than just waiting for your moment to shine.

Owen Barry has been a working musician for over 25 years. Born in the UK, now based in Los Angeles, Owen has worked as a session musician with hundreds of artists worldwide, spanning many musical genres. As well as being a highly in demand live/touring musician, he works heavily as a recording/studio guitarist when not on the road. • The first ever time someone steps on a movie set, be they actor, director, writer or whoever, can be extremely precarious. Producer Javier Gonzalez says humility is always the safest move because it brings out the best in others, as it did for Clint Eastwood in his 1971 directorial debut and today's "B-side": Play Misty for Me.

Javier Gonzalez is a Mexican-American, El Paso, TX-based, Emmy-winning and Sundance Grand Jury Prize- winning Producer whose films and series have been selected for the Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, South by Southwest, New York, Rotterdam, TriBeCa, Fantastic Fest, Morelia, Glasgow, Hot Docs, Stockholm, Denver, Sitges, Los Cabos, True/False, Miami, Cartagena and Fanstasia Film Festivals. Javier has spent the last twenty years working in various production capacities throughout the American and Mexican film industries. Javier is fluent in Spanish, English and German. Javier has been a guest lecturer for the film program at the Rhode Island School of Design.

  • Your creative voice comes from your identity and experiences. So it's only natural that creative geniuses like Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal mine their own lives for their work. He's been fortunate enough to tread a path that few get to follow.

Phil has garnered a cult like following for his Netflix series SOMEBODY FEED PHIL, which released it’s seventh season on Netflix on March 1. In the series, Phil takes viewers with him as he travels and discovers new cities through culture, people, and most importantly, food, in a way that is fresh, digestible, funny, and truly makes you want to visit that city. Phil has had tourism boards across the globe tell him that his show has directly impacted the growth of tourism in each of the cities he has visited. In Phil’s words, “if everybody could experience a little bit of each other’s experiences, the world would be a better place.” He is one of those rare people who folks gravitate towards as if he was an old friend that they’ve known their whole life. The interactions fans have with Phil is like groupies of a rock band, except its men, women, kids, grandparents, and everyone alike, all approaching Phil about their experiences with travel and food. Following a resounding call from fans, he created a companion book, Somebody Feed Phil The Book, which was released in October 2022. He followed this up with a new children’s book he created with his daughter, Lily, called: JUST TRY IT: A Phil and Lil Book, a hilarious picture book geared towards young children about a food-loving dad encouraging his picky eater daughter to just try something new which released March 2024. Both books immediately hit the New York Times Best Seller list. Phil is also currently wrapping up his second 25-city tour, with upcoming shows across California and Arizona. Phil’s heartwarming live show unites families just the way Phil’s original series EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND did over 20 years ago. Phil is one of those rare people who folks gravitate towards as if he was an old friend that they’ve known their whole life. The interactions fans have with Phil are like groupies of a rock band, except its men, women, kids, and grandparents, all approaching Phil about their experiences with travel and food and making Phil’s favorite saying, “food is the great human connector”, come to life.

  • Life is marathon, not a full blown sprint. And as development executive Michael Forman knows full well, there is no "making it" in show business, because search for success never really ends, and stamina beats speed any day.Michael Forman has been a Senior-level development executive and Executive producer for two decades. As a studio exec, he helped establish the television departments of Brillstein-Grey and Virgin Produced. As a Broadcast Network executive, he worked at both NBC and UPN; In his role as an Executive producer, he led Vin DiBona Productions, Big Cattle Productions, Davis Entertainment, and Virgin Produced. During his career, he aided in developing and producing some of television’s very successful shows, including NewsRadio, Just Shoot Me, The King of Queens, Blue Collar TV, Profiler, and Homicide: Life on the Street. As the Senior Vice President of Programming for UPN, he further mastered his understanding and skills of running a network. Michael achieved President rank at several companies and ultimately formed his first company, Big Cattle Productions, with Partner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace). Big Cattle yielded the Jane Lynch series, LOVESPRING. He currently runs his second company, 4Mankind television. • A life has many ups and downs, and the life of Jim Keledjian, father of Alex, is no exception. His story of rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches through the worlds of city planning and real estate investment is full of timeless gems of universal wisdom, including how to recognize opportunity in even some of the most obscure places.

Jim Keledjian formed the privately held development firm, Associated Ventures LLC, which was involved with the development and management of affordable senior housing. In the late 1990’s, the principals of Associated Ventures and Quality Care Nursing Home formed Pathway Senior Living, LLC. He began his real estate career as an Acquisitions Director with Multi-Vest, Inc., in Southfield, Michigan and was later appointed Regional Vice President of the Robert A. McNeil Corporation responsible for the Chicago office. As Regional Vice President, he was responsible for purchasing income properties throughout the Midwest. Later, he also served as Executive Vice President of Van Kampen, Morris & Stone (VMS) and was responsible for supervising the acquisition program for the entire United States. He is active with the Tax Credit Subcommittee of the National Association of Home Builders and is a Director of the Illinois Housing Council, the Michigan Housing Council, and the Illinois Affordable Assisted Living Coalition. In addition he is a member of the Urban Development Fund, a new market tax credit entity that has received over $133,000,000 in credits from the US Treasury Department and is head of their Investment Committee and a member of the Advisory Board. Recently, Mr. Keledjian was appointed to the Wisconsin Tax Credit Allocation Committee as a Developer Representative.

  • Writer-producer Marc Guggenheim approaches his work from a place of trying to please the ten-year-old version of himself who loved sci fi and superheroes. So he was the perfect guy for Warner Bros. and DC Comics to tap to not just play in, but help build its cinematic sandbox.

Marc Guggenheim is an American screenwriter, television producer, comic book writer, and novelist. After a romantic comedy script led to a few meetings with producers, he moved to California to pursue a career as a screenwriter. A script for The Practice was his first produced work. He eventually served as a producer for Law & Order, Jack and Bobby, CSI: Miami, and In Justice. With Greg Berlanti, Guggenheim is the co-creator of the ABC show Eli Stone. He later became executive producer of ABC's No Ordinary Family. Guggenheim, together with Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, adapted the Green Arrow comics into the television series Arrow. The three, alongside Phil Klemmer, went on to develop the spin-off series Legends of Tomorrow. With Guillermo del Toro, he co-wrote the pilot and several episodes of the award-winning animated series Tales of Arcadia, an original franchise created for Netflix from DreamWorks Animation, for which he won an Emmy in the category of "Best Writing for an Animated Series" and nominated for several others. He remained as Executive Producer throughout the series' three installments, Trollhunters, 3Below and Wizards: Tales of Arcadia.

  • Some of the best storytellers in the world led entire lives before getting into the writing business. Writer-producer Marc Guggenheim made the leap from writing legal briefs to legal dramas and sci-fi superhero sagas like The CW's Arrow, The Flash and Batwoman.

  • The three rules of real estate become reel as director Brad Anderson explains how he takes inspiration from films like his B-side choice, Nicolas Roeg's "Don't Look Now" (1973), to make the places he shoots (whether it's a train, insane asylum or the coast of Spain) just as important as the actors and the plot.

Brad Anderson is an American film director, producer and writer. A director of thriller and horror films and television projects, he is best known for having directed The Machinist (2004), starring Christian Bale, psychological horror film Session 9 (2001). His next two films were TransSiberian (2008), a thriller starring Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley and the horror film Vanishing on 7th Street (2010), starring Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo and Thandiwe Newton. In 2018, Anderson directed the espionage thriller Beirut, written by Tony Gilroy, which stars Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike. He also produced and directed several installments of the Fox science fiction television series Fringe. Early in his career, he directed the romantic comedies Next Stop Wonderland (1998) and Happy Accidents (2000), both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His other television credits include The Wire, The Killing, The Man in the High Castle, and Boardwalk Empire.

  • Whether it's the fear of A.I. coming for your job or the fact that your third act stinks to high heaven, the writing life is full of worries and doubts. Luckily screenwriting mentor Brooks Elms has your back. Alex and Ryan talk to him about how to take notes, find hope for the future, and write honest stories driven by real humanity like Richard Linklater's "Before" trilogy: Before Sunrise (1995), Before Sunset (2004), and Before Midnight (2013).

Brooks Elms is a screenwriter and independent filmmaker. His specialty is grounded personal characters and writing story tension so thick it knots up your stomach. He's written 25+ screenplays, a dozen of them on assignment, and sold several scripts, including one with Brad Peyton as Executive Producer. Brooks was recently hired to rewrite a screenplay started by an Oscar-winning writer. Brooks began his career writing, directing, and producing two indie features (personal dramas) that he screened all over the world. And Brooks also loves coaching fellow writers who have a burning ambition to deeply serve their audiences.
