The boys finally dig into one of the richest, most layered record of the 1970s. That's right, Steely Dan's Aja. And what better types of cocktails to match with this level of studio perfectionism and virtuosity than a set of precision made highball drinks?

The crew listens to two records showcasing legendary artist combinations, while tasting the most legendary of beverage combinations - the Boilermaker; that's right....a shot and a beer.
Hear what kind of rye fits with the raspy whisper of Tom Petty in the Traveling Wilburys, and what kind of Pale Ale works best with the commanding baritone of Johnny Cash from the Highwaymen. Plus much more.

We round out our 2 parter on the eighties with the more urbane, yuppie side of the decade, both musically, and mixologically. Alex talks about how Patrick Bateman should have had this record as one of his featured album reviews in American psycho, while Crist misses Van Halen, and Ian and Skye enjoy the "Finer Things" like a classy wet Martini.

The Record Club tries to salvage some of the most tarnished of eighties drinks by elevating the quality of ingredients, with results ranging from creating some newfound respect for some previously maligned mixed drinks, to solidifying others in the category of 'unsalvageable.' One thing was decided as indisputable: VAN HALEN ROCKS.

Skye and Alex convene in an undisclosed remote location in the Shenandoah Valley and go head to head on their ideas for riffs on classics. Sit back with some early disco from Watler Murphy and the Silver Convention, while we compare and rank Alex's "Dancing Queens Cocktail, Skye's "Final Ward" and more.

We dove into the music of Old Blue Eyes, and one of his most lush, introspective, and velvety records, 1959's "No One Cares," and did a little old-school cocktail lottery. Learn why some of the old drinks your grandpa and Frankie used to sip on by the fire have gone out of fashion, why some should come back, and why some should remain in obscurity.

We're back to dive into one of the seminal entries in the Psychedelic Rock canon - Are You Experienced? by Jimi Hendrix.
And what better mixer to is there match with these far out sounds than the dubiously hallucinogenic spirit, Absinthe.

We toast to the end of summer with one of our favorite backyard party albums, 1996s Odelay by Beck. The blend of styles and samples fit perfectly with frozen cocktails so we dusted off the blender and made ourselves some blended versions of of classic summer cocktails, including favorites like the Jungle Bird, and the Espresso Martini.

We took refuge from a summer thunder shower and listened to Prince's most successful, eclectic album, 1984's Purple Rain. Skye works his magic with some equally energetic summer concoctions, featuring effervescent and colorful riffs on the Negroni, the Cosmo, and more.

Appropriately recorded on Cinqo de Mayo, we dive into our favorite Desert Rock album, 2007's Era Vulgaris by Queens of the Stone Age. Skye works his magic with Tequila to deliver some unique riffs on the Paloma and the Old Fashioned, and manages to curate a tasty menu without resorting to a Margarita.
This is a heavy record with some even heavier drinks. Enjoy the spirits, enjoy the sounds, and have fun out there. -
Be prepared for an onslaught of unsolicited Michael McDonald impression as the Club takes on the Doobie Bros' classic, 'Minute by Minute' from 1978. With the record that years later would later become known as the cornerstone album of Yacht Rock, we riff on these smooth sounds and complex arrangements with some equally smooth, yet complex Daiquiris.

After a long hiatus, we're relaunching with a brand new "Record Club" concept. Instead of a genre playlist and a base-spirit, we're doing a classic album from front-to-back, without stops or repeats, and pairing the experience with a set of spirits and flavors to match.
We're launching the concept with one of the most immersive vinyl experiences of all-time, The Beatles' Abbey Road.
After re-locating the studio from New York to Washington, DC, Alex is joined by cocktail aficionado Skye Frontier, and former guest-of -the-pod turned co-host Ian Burke.
We'd love to hear your feedback on this new format. Enjoy the spirits, enjoy the sounds, and have fun out there. -
We're breaking down the scintillating and sparkly classic, the French 75, and using it as an inspiration to play with some flavors and make our own variations. Inspired by the smooth music of Bertie Higgins.

We hang out with cocktail connoisseurs, and canned cocktail entrepreneurs, Tara and Jeremy Bohen, as we travel through the history of two classics; the Cosmo and the Mojito. We take on 3 iterations of each beverage, and match them with 3 iterations of jazz standards that match the vibe of each cocktail's history. Have fun out there.

We're departing from our 'single spirit' approach for the first time as we explore all sorts of British beverages. Joined by our special guest Ian Burke, we sample everything from from the beer-based Snake Bite to the gin-based White Lady. And what better music to pair these delightful beverages with than 90s Britpop. Enjoy as we cover music from the notorious Gallagher Brothers (Oasis), Blur, Pulp, and more.

To celebrate the release of Bad Business Club's latest single, Jackson and Alex explore the art of the remix with LA electronic artists Woolfy (Simon James) and Projections (Dan Hastie). Vibe out as we take original songs, and explore how Simon and Dan break apart the elements to create a brand new composition. Meanwhile, Jackson is inspired by the Copalli Rum to add his own "remix" flair to some classic rum drinks.

We finally tackle the spirit that Alex has been dreading since the worst hangover of his life - Gin. But thanks to Jackson's creativity behind the bar, and his ability to infuse the botanical beverage with flavors like Oolong Tea, Pear, Peach, and more, we regard it as our most refreshing episode yet.
A perfect start to the summer, we're pairing it with a genre we forgot we knew so much about - Jazz Fusion. Pour yourself a some cool clear floral spirit and learn about the likes of Miles Davis's early explorations into rock music, the pure energy of the Brecker Brothers, and the jazz-pop sensibilities of Weather Report.
