What happens when a state decides that your body is more useful dead than it was alive?
This episode of In Sync with Alexi takes you inside the harrowing real story of Adriana Smith — a 30-year-old Black woman in Georgia who was declared brain-dead in February 2025 while nine weeks pregnant. Instead of allowing her to rest, the state’s abortion ban and fetal personhood law have kept her on life support for months, with plans to forcibly deliver the fetus around 32 weeks.
Alexi breaks down:
The timeline of what happenedWhat Georgia’s six-week abortion ban actually saysHow fetal personhood laws are quietly reshaping reproductive rightsThe emotional, legal, and financial harm being inflicted on Adriana’s familyWhy this case matters — for all of usThis isn’t an outlier. It’s a warning.

What happens when the only person holding a powerful abuser accountable… is the woman he abused? In this episode, I unpack the Diddy trial and why Cassie Ventura’s courage is rewriting the legacy she could’ve had as a pop star — and why so many women still feel unsafe saying a single thing. We get into the cost of survival, the silence around intimate partner violence, and what it takes to name names in a culture built to protect the powerful.

Let's talk about something that bugs me: this idea of a "political savior" in American politics, especially within the Democratic Party. I see us constantly drawn to charismatic figures like Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom, and sometimes we completely miss out on candidates like Wes Moore, who have a lot to offer. This whole focus on personality is a distraction. It takes away from the real, hard work we need to do to build political power and infrastructure. Everyday people need to get involved, organize at the grassroots level, and support leaders who can actually build movements, not just fan bases.

Takeaways:
The political savior myth is deeply ingrained in American culture.Democrats often focus on personalities rather than substantive issues.Wes Moore represents a compelling candidate overlooked by the party.Bias in candidate selection can lead to electoral losses.Building political power requires grassroots organizing and infrastructure. The GOP is actively planning while Democrats chase media-friendly figures.Real leadership is about movement-building, not just popularity.Voter engagement and protection are crucial for future elections. The seductive nature of the savior myth can lead to political passivity. It's time to shift the narrative from waiting for a savior to taking action.Support the show

The system isn’t working for us. It never did. But something new is emerging.
We're baaaack! This is for anyone who’s politically alert but emotionally exhausted. You’re done pretending this country makes sense. You want clarity, context, and community. You want to feel less alone while paying attention.
This isn’t just a podcast about politics — it’s about what happens when you realize the game was rigged from the start.
In Sync with Alexi: The System Isn’t Broken dives into the deep, disorienting truth that so many of us are waking up to:
The system isn’t failing us — it was built to function this way.
To exhaust you. Confuse you. Keep you questioning your own gut.
This isn’t about horse-race politics.
It’s about the emotional toll of trying to exist in a country that keeps gaslighting its citizens.
If you’re angry, disillusioned, or quietly losing your mind…
You’re not broken.
You’re just paying attention.
Welcome to season 2 of In Sync with Alexi.

Let's talk about men and what happened in the 2024 presidential election.
It's important to process emotions rather than rush back to productivity.Internalized capitalism can lead to unhealthy emotional suppression.Shame thrives in the shadows and can become a burden.Masculinity is not toxic; it's how we define and express it that matters.Progressives need to engage with men in a meaningful way.Economic and social issues resonate with men and should be addressed.Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.Shaming individuals does not foster positive change. We need to tell better stories about masculinity.Politics is about people, not just policies.
In this episode of 'In Sync with Alexi', we explore the emotional aftermath of recent events, emphasizing the importance of processing feelings rather than rushing back to productivity. Alexi gets into the concept of shame, particularly how it can grow when kept hidden, and advocates for a more open dialogue about masculinity, particularly in the context of political discourse. The conversation challenges the notion that masculinity is inherently toxic and calls for a redefinition that includes empathy and vulnerability.

In this eye-opening episode, Alexi dives deep into the rise of constitutional sheriffs—law enforcement officials who claim ultimate authority over their counties, often sidestepping state and federal laws. This growing movement isn’t just a local issue; it’s a national threat to election integrity and voter rights. With some sheriffs now compiling “enemies lists” of political opponents and taking actions that edge dangerously close to election interference, the stakes are higher than ever. As we near the upcoming election, understanding these power dynamics is critical. Join Alexi as she unpacks what this means for our democracy, why it matters now, and how we can stay vigilant and protect our right to vote without intimidation.
Key Takeaways:
• Constitutional sheriffs are gaining influence across the country, often with a self-defined interpretation of the Constitution.
• Local law enforcement, under this movement, is encouraged to challenge federal laws and even intimidate voters.
• Election interference and voter intimidation are real risks this election season.
• Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to know your voting rights and be aware of local law enforcement dynamics.
