Growing up in a refugee camp in Palestine, Hammam experienced the hardship of living under occupation first hand and his childhood was filled with images of soldiers clashing with protestors and breaking into houses. Now a student in the US, his heart is always directed towards a peaceful future for Palestinians. He is an active member of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) working to raise public awareness of The Occupation in Palestine and spread Palestinian culture. Please join us to get to know Hammam's experience, what The Occupation and SJP are and why they matter.

Crossed paths in a US Women History course where they realized how little they know about other women's stories, Ursula and Mallory felt the need to establish an organization that focuses solely on the aspect of being a woman. Just before the pandemic hit, they established the Female Empowerment Movement (aka FEM) at IIT with hopes to create a space of support and resources for female-identifying students. Please join us in this episode to hear about their story, mission, and plans to establish a Women Center on campus.
