We are living in a whole new world...
With the outbreak and spread of the Coronavirus, federal, state and local governments have enacted numerous restrictions aimed at protecting the public from the spread of this new contagion, but do they all hit the target?
New Orleans Mayor, Latoya Cantrell recently announced a state of emergency which allows her to suspend the sale of firearms within the city. Can she fire off such an order? Is it a public safety bulls eye, or does it miss the target completely?
How does such an order protect people during an emergency? Does this regulation violate the Second Amendment? Further, can local and state leaders violate your civil rights just because something bad has happened?
As one of our favorite law school professors once said, "That depends..."
Check out this all-new episode of Legally Unfiltered and let us know how you feel about cities restricting gun sales during times of emergency. Email us a [email protected], or hit us up on Facebook. We want to hear what you have to say on this explosive topic.
Until next time, stay safe. Filter everything except your discussions. -

The courtroom is intended to be the place where fairness is the fundamental ideology and judges are supposed to be the arbiters of justice and equity. ...and

When people get arrested, they usually are allowed to post a bond (also known as bail) to get out of jail pending trial. The price of the bond is often linked to the crime the individual defendant is accused of. The more serious the crime, the higher the bond typically is. Recently a man was arrested on 500 counts of child pornography and his bond was set at $50 million dollars. Is this too high?
On this episode Franz N. Borghardt and Richard Sprinkle sit down to discuss bonds. How much is too much? There is an 8th Amendment protection against excessive bail, but what exactly is excessive? Is it $50 million dollars? Listen to this episode to see what our attorney hosts have to say about the subject. - Laat meer zien
