On this episode of Let's Talk Comics, I chat with writer Matthew Rosenberg to dive deep into his indie comics roots, his love of comics and his journey to Image. From his early work with books like 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank through his DC & Marvel work, to arriving at Image, Matt's story is one for the ages. He talks about how his admiration for Image shaped his career goals, his first pitch to Image and the creative risks that led to What's The Furthest Place From Here?. Plus, he's got a new book coming out, We're Taking Everyone Down With Us, and how this book is the culmination of everything he's learned so far as a creator and why he's so incredibly excited for it.

In this special bonus episode of Let's Talk Comics, we're bringing you a conversation that's as fascinating as it is unexpected! Jason Aaron (Bug Wars, Thor, Scalped) is back on the show but this time with entomologist Dr. Adrian Smith, an expert in insect behavior, to dive deep into the real-world inspirations behind Bug Wars. The two of them explore the brutal, cooperative, and downright alien nature of insects, from deadly beetle battles to ant warfare, and how those elements shape the world of the comic. Plus, we learn about the craziest bugs that should absolutely make it into the series, including a real-life predator with a sticky, projectile mouth! Whether you're a comic fan, a bug enthusiast, or just love a great behind-the-scenes story, this episode is a must-listen.

Marjorie Liu is a creator I've admired for a very long time. This week she joins the show to talk about how she discovered comics through X-Men: The Animated Series and how her love of storytelling and reading led her to a career writing novels and eventually comics (all after graduating from law school). Her insight into her writing process, especially with how she approaches Monstress, is a must listen for anyone working in the creative field. How she balances the epicness of her creator owned title with themes of trauma, identity and resilience is a masterclass.
