Title: Review and Analysis of Ayaan Hirsi Ali's: Heretic
Series: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now
Author: Summary Shorts
Narrator: Doron Alon
Format: Unabridged
Length: 00:21:00
Release date: 10-12-17
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: Please note: This is a review and analysis of the book, not the original book. This review and analysis is not endorsed by or affiliated with Ayaan Hirsi Ali.There is no doubt about it, 9/11/2001 changed the world. We learned that terrorists in the name of Islam were able to attack the United States mainland. The response to the attack by the United States and its allies was swift and brutal. As the United States made inroads against groups like Al Qaeda, it was expected that terrorism would decrease. That is not what happened. It actually got worse. Why did it get worse though? What is fueling this anger? It can't just be because America attacked Iraq or Al Qaeda. It is much deeper than that. What is really fueling this hate for Americans and the West is radical Islam and certain Islamic principles in general. The only way we can address these issues is by helping Islam evolve some of its core principles to fit into the modern world. In Ayaan Hirsi Ali's Heretic, she addresses the problems within Islam that inspire terror and how to remedy them. This review and analysis sums up the main points of her book. Enjoy! -

Title: What the Qur'an Meant
Series: And Why It Matters
Author: Garry Wills
Narrator: Robertson Dean
Format: Unabridged
Length: 06:11:00
Release date: 10-03-17
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 11 votes
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: America's leading religious scholar and public intellectual introduces lay listeners to the Qur'an with a measured, powerful reading of the ancient textGarry Wills has spent a lifetime thinking and writing about Christianity. In What the Qur'an Meant, Wills invites listeners to join him as he embarks on a timely and necessary reconsideration of the Qur'an, leading us through perplexing passages with insight and erudition. What does the Qur'an actually say about veiling women? Does it justify religious war? There was a time when ordinary Americans did not have to know much about Islam. That is no longer the case. We blundered into the longest war in our history without knowing basic facts about the Islamic civilization with which we were dealing. We are constantly fed false information about Islam - claims that it is essentially a religion of violence, that its sacred book is a handbook for terrorists. There is no way to assess these claims unless we have at least some knowledge of the Qur'an.In this book Wills, as a non-Muslim with an open mind, reads the Qur'an with sympathy but with rigor, trying to discover why other non-Muslims - such as Pope Francis - find it an inspiring book, worthy to guide people down through the centuries. There are many traditions that add to and distort and blunt the actual words of the text. What Wills does resembles the work of art restorers who clean away accumulated layers of dust to find the original meaning. He compares the Qur'an with other sacred books, the Old Testament and the New Testament, to show many parallels between them. There are also parallel difficulties of interpretation, which call for patient exploration - and which offer some thrills of discovery. What the Qur'an Meant is the opening of a conversation on one of the world's most practiced religions. -

Release date: 09-05-17
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 26 votes
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: This program is read by the author.A best-selling author and rabbi's profoundly affecting exploration of the meaning and purpose of the soul, inspired by the famous correspondence between Albert Einstein and a grieving rabbi."A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts, and feelings as something separate from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness...." (Albert Einstein)When Rabbi Naomi Levy came across this poignant letter by Einstein, it shook her to her core. His words perfectly captured what she has come to believe about the human condition: that we are intimately connected and that we are blind to this truth. Levy wondered what had elicited such spiritual wisdom from a man of science. Thus began a three-year search into the mystery of Einstein's letter and into the mystery of the human soul. What emerges is an inspiring, deeply affecting audiobook for people of all faiths filled with universal truths that will help us reclaim our own souls and glimpse the unity that has been evading us. We all long to see more expansively, to live up to our gifts, to understand why we are here. In Einstein and the Rabbi, Levy leads us on a breathtaking journey full of wisdom, empathy, and humor, challenging us to wake up and heed the voice calling from within - a voice beckoning us to become who we were born be. -

Title: Towards a New Role of the Institution of Waqf
Author: Hussein Elasrag
Narrator: sangita chauhan
Format: Unabridged
Length: 02:01:00
Release date: 08-29-17
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: The scarcity of studies on waqf may arise from the lack of data and the lack of transparency in the economic and political structure of the many Islamic countries. A waqf can be used not only to provide immediate necessities to the poor, but also to create or strengthen business support institutions that can lower the cost of doing business for the poor. A waqf can also be used to support and build infrastructure institutions that can improve corporate governance and reduce the cost of doing business. For example, information bureaus, market regulatory bodies, the provision of accountancy services, and other such shared services for a group or for the entire society can be funded through waqf. Thus, this audiobook focuses on the application of these concepts and some possible roles that waqf may play in the socio-economic development of the Muslim societies. -

Narrator: Steve Cook
Format: Unabridged
Length: 16:25:00
Release date: 08-24-17
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 9 votes
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: "This is the full, uninterrupted audiobook of the 14 books of the Apocrypha - read with the passion this masterpiece deserves by number one best-selling voice talent Steve Cook."Since AD 382, when Saint Jerome began his historic revision of the Latin Bible, up to the present day version of these works, the books known collectively as the Biblical Apocrypha, or simply "the Apocrypha" have been distinguished by controversy, acceptance, inclusion, exclusion, and curiosity. The word "Apocrypha" originates from the Greek word apókruphos; which means "hidden", referencing to its selective state in different renditions of books - consequently, many have sought to discover why this is so. For many, this relates to a sense of the forbidden has swirled around these books, even though the Apocrypha was included in the Old Testament of the ancient historic churches. Others feel that it plays against their personal beliefs as well as the beliefs of others. When Jerome settled in Bethlehem in 388, he devoted the last 34 years of his life to translating the Old Testament from its original Hebrew text into Latin. He, as many other scholars to follow him, made notes about the Apocryphal books and their relative value in terms of scripture. Jerome completed "the Vulgate" in AD 405. Upon his death on September 30 AD 420 Jerome was buried in Bethlehem making the Latin Vulgate the standard Bible for the Western world. The Apocrypha is considered to be valuable because it was included in the Greek translation of the primary Old Testament, named the Septuagint, or LXX, of the early Church. Seventy scholars completed the Septuagint, which roughly translated actually means "the 70". This translation would soon be known as the Old Testament which Jesus and His Apostles would have known. The books called the Apocrypha were written during the third to the first centuries BC. They would get their origins from such diverse places such as Alexandria (Egypt), Antioch (Syria), and Israel. Some of these books were written in Greek. -

Title: The 99 Names of Allah
Series: Acquiring the 99 Divine Qualities of God
Author: Baal Kadmon
Narrator: Baal Kadmon
Format: Unabridged
Length: 00:37:00
Release date: 03-30-17
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 4 votes
Genres: Islam
Publisher's Summary: In the first volume of the Sacred Names series, The 72 Names of God: The 72 keys to Transformation, I discuss the power of the name. Knowing a name gives you power. In this book we will discuss the 99 names of Allah, what they are, and how to use them to instill in yourself with the power of God. Throughout the mystical traditions of the world, several traditions stand out as luminaries. One of these luminous traditions is Sufism. Sufism is the mystical tradition of the Muslim faith. Like any spiritual tradition, mystical interpretations are often hinted at in the main body of religious texts, but other books are needed to decipher the inner mysteries of an established canon. This applies to Islam as well. Islam's main holy book is the Quran. A beautifully written and deep tome. Often in the west we do not see the depth of Islam because it has been shrouded in the deeds of a few radical people who have lost the true spirit of the Quran. This is a shame because the Quran is quite a deep book. It is much more than a book on how to conduct one's life. It is a manual for divine enlightenment. Its deeper mysteries are hidden in the text, and voluminous works like the Hadith are used to tease them out. In the Hadith, it discusses the 99 names of God. These names are essentially 99 qualities that God possess. These names are meant as guides in our own life. If you have ever seen pictures of Muslims holding beads in their hands, those beads are used to chant the 99 names of Allah. This tradition is very much embedded in Islamic tradition. In this book, we will learn how to tap into the 99 names of Allah and acquire the 99 divine qualities.PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your Library section along with the audio. -
