Litter On The Breeze - the podcast about the music, stories, and fans of the band Suede - returns with an episode where the latter ask me about the former two! Yes, I open up the mailbag - today to tackle some of the more common questions I have been asked since starting the podcast. Dream Guests, Greatest Live Performances, The Usual Manic Street Preachers and Cast References, plus a dreaded ALBUM RANKING. *ducks*

Litter On The Breeze - the podcast about the music, stories and the fans of Suede - returns for a chat with none other than the current IBP Journalism Housing and Residential Property Journalist Of The Year, Hannah Fearn! We talk about:
Getting in, getting out, and then getting really back in with our band How her own upbringing seems to be reflected in many of Suede's lyricsWhether or not we are right to apply 2025 present-mindedness to Bxxxpop, If the band are more 'political' than it first might appear, and plenty of other things besides!Show Notes:

Litter On The Breeze - the podcast about the music, stories and the fans of Suede returns for a chat with R.E.M biographer and thoroughly good fellow John Hunter. We discuss how important the British Music Press was for a US fan of UK Indie in the late 80s and early 90s, how he discovered Suede and the lengths he went to get hold of their first singles, and many other things besides. We also find time to discuss The Smiths, The Jam and...er..Wonky Alice.

Litter On The Breeze - the podcast about the music, stories and the fans of Suede - returns for a chat with someone who knows a thing or two about all of those, for she oversees a community which very much encompasses all of them! Yes, today we are talking to Samantha Hand from The Insatiable Ones. We learn how Sam first got into Suede, how she got back into Suede, where and how The Insatiable Ones first came about and what it has in store for the future!
There might even be the odd semi-exclusive contained within the recording as well.... Eyes Emoji

Litter On The Breeze returns with an episode I always hoped I'd get to do at some point, but never imagined it would be this soon. Yes, I am talking to Politics Podcaster, music magazine editor and all-round chap Mr Andrew Harrison. Yes, that Andrew Harrison! In the course of today's episode we discover how he became the editor of Select Magazine and what his aims were for the publication, and then look closely at the in/famous front cover of Brett Anderson superimposed in front of a Union Jack, complete with the words 'Yanks Go Home!'. We find out where the idea came from, how it was all put together, and of course the wave of reaction it caused and still continues to cause!
I hope you all enjoy listening to this one as much as I did recording it ; very much a bucket list item (if people still say that!).
Show Notes:

Litter On The Breeze returns by looking out of the window and taking in some of the sights, sounds, and oh yes, smells of Suede's 'Coming Up' album! Today we are joined by another Person Who Was There In The Nineties in the form of Cllr Richard Lawley , with whom I have been known to attend the odd Suede gig - as you will hear about! In addition, we discuss how he got into the band, how they compared with other acts who happened to be around at the time, and a story about a purchase that he would come to regret..!
After that we take the usual detour-strewn trip into parts of the album itself, picking out some of our favourite moments!
And stay tuned to the end of the episode for some news on the future of the podcast, both short and long term (Don't worry - it's staying!)

'Beautiful Ones' was indeed on 'Shine 7'. Track Two, in fact. Track One? Only bloody 'Flying'!!That 'Anthems' album thing is long lost from my collection, but i recently re-discovered that back in 1999,I recorded some tracks from it onto the second side of a C90. 'Trash' wasn't one of them!. ('No Code' by Pearl Jam was on Side One, for those keeping score)Yes, still a dream guest...Audio Credits:

Litter On The Breeze returns by paying its first visit to Proper Pop Stars, Suede - 1996 edition!
Today we flick through the pages of another music monthly - this time Vox Magazine from August 1996. I talk about Vox's output in general, before diving into the cover feature itself. Expect discussion about Suede's place within the music landscape of 1996, the (non)-relationship with at least one of their peers, and chip shops. Lots and lots of chip shops.
I then look at some of the albums reviewed in this month's edition of the magazine to help get a sense of the world 'Coming Up' would be released into, allowing me to wax lyrical about the likes of Placebo, Metallica, Electronic, Beck, Screaming Trees, Shampoo...And Many More...

Litter On The Breeze returns by looking at all things surrounding a little Suede album by the name of 'Dog Man Star'. What possible source material could that ever give us? Today we are joined by another guest, and again it was someone who was in the thick of it during 1994 - and who rightly describes it as one of the very greatest years for music, Ben! We'll learn how he first came across the band, how he acquired certain copies of certain Suede records, and a chat about...er..Select's favourite albums of 1997!
After that we take the usual detour-strewn trip into parts of the album itself, picking out some of our favourite moments!

Litter On The Breeze returns by paying its first visit to Suede in 1994. What could possibly go wrong? Today we flick through the pages of our first Music Monthly - namely the October 1994 edition of Select Magazine. After commemorating a poignant anniversary, I dive into an article in which Bernard What Used To Be In Suede gets discussed a lot...albeit not really by the band.
The reference to my Top 100 albums was every bit as unplanned as it sounds! It just happened to be on the table opposite me. I should do something substantial with it really..Links to the books mentioned within :'Uncommon People: Britpop and Beyond in 20 Songs' - Miranda Sawyer. 'My Magpie Eyes Are Hungry For The Prize - The Creation Records Story' - David Cavanagh . 'Good Night And Good Riddance' - David Cavanagh. 'Here They Come With Their Make Up On - Suede, Coming Up...And More Adventures Beyond The Wild Frontiers' - Jane Savidge."PR", not "PA"!
Time is also found to talk about Sugar, Massive Attack and, on about four occasions, Manic Street Preachers....

Litter On The Breeze returns with our first foray into an album and an era, and it just happens to be that of the debut LP 'Suede'! All 100,000 copies sold in its first week of it. Today we are joined by our first ever guest, and one who was fortunate enough to be there at the time (whilst I was still in the realms of 'No Limit', Lucy! She was fortunate enough to be swept up in the whirlwind of SuedeMania at the time. We'll learn how she first came across the band, how she got on board, and the means by which the album was acquired on the very first day of release!
As a future guest on these shows has since gleefully informed me, the Mercury Music Prize came about as a wheeze on the part of Mercury Communications, a former 'rival' to British Telecom. Unless it was a side hustle, then it is indeed highly unlikely they ever made any "stereo gear". Yes, I thought they had something to do with Technics or the like! My Alba CD Player and I never liked award shows anyway...I claw back some goodwill here though: it was indeed Badly Drawn Boy who threw away the winner's cheque at the Mercury Music Prize bash. I was right! (That gag would have been funnier had 'You Were Right' been on the album in question...Maybe). https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/31/gomez-ms-dynamite-m-people-mercury-prize-winningsTHAT 'Not The Nine OClock News' sketch. https://youtu.be/Xo6hdKsa6ls?si=Xqr9-_7g78PWANDIThe wonders of Zoom meant my microphone wasn't really picked up during the main bulk of the recording, so I had to rely on the trusty back-up. Perfectly audible, but if you notice a difference between the main show and the intro/outro, that'll be why!
After that we take a detour-strewn trip around the album itself, picking out some of our favourite and our least favourite moments.

Welcome to the first episode of 'Litter On The Breeze'! A brand new podcast which will, in time, have come to detail all-things Suede. Today, you will:
Learn how this podcast came about and what it aims to achieveHear an intentionally VERY brief list of facts re the bandFind out what to expect in the next few episodes of the showBegin to gather some ideas on what you would like to hear in future episodes of the podcast!
This episode was pieced together from multiple recording sessions, hence the occasional uneven audio quality! Recording took place before the announcement of 'Steve Lamacq MBE'.Still waiting for some 'A New Morning' positivity.
After Introducing the Pod, proceedings proper begin with Rory taking a stroll through the cover article on the group from the 20th February 1993 edition of NME - and pull out many talking points contained within! Also expect mentions of The Fall, Rage Against The Machine and Nirvana (oh, and The Jesus Lizard)
