I used to be so anxious to take a day off from exercise that Iâd force myself to work out even when I was absolutely exhausted, sore AF, overwhelmed and even in pain.
I ran half marathons because thatâs the form of exercise that burned the most calories (even though I didnât enjoy it and it caused me a whole lot of physical pain).
I tracked every single step walked, calorie burned, and active minutes on my Fitbit with obsessive precision.
Did I run in place in my basement on the days that I hadnât hit 10,000 steps yet? You bet I did.
To say that I used to struggle with an unhealthy relationship with exercise is the understatement of the century.
If youâve ever viewed exercise as a way to lose weight, chances are you can relateâŠ
When youâre a woman exposed to diet culture on the daily (i.e. ALL women), itâs really easy to fall into the trap of BAD advice related to exercise, likeâŠ
âGo hard or go home!ââYou need to hit the gym after eating that dessertâ
âIf you're not sweating buckets and pushing yourself to the limit every day, you won't see any results.â
âNo pain, no gainâ
As a result , you might constantly be feeling like youâre not doing enough, or youâre doing the wrong thing.
Or, youâre either going ALL in working out 7 days a week, or youâre completely off the wagon and struggling to even get yourself motivated to work out AT ALL.
Thatâs why this week on the podcast⊠weâre talking about How To Have A Healthy Relationship With Exercise.

Have you ever felt like you're addicted to sugar? Like the moment you start eating, you quite literally CANNOT stop yourself?
Trust yourself around food and have the sweets, chocolate, baked goods or candy without the fear that you'll lose control, eat the entire thing and feel like crapEat the foods you love without feeling guilty and anxious about itFeel "normal" around your fear foods and be able to walk away effortlessly without even needing to use willpower or discipline
Maybe you've heard the studies that compare sugar to addictive drugs, and you've concluded that since the problem is the food itself, the only solution is to abstain from sugar consumption altogether.
You've tried not bringing sweets into your home, replacing sugar in recipes with "healthier" alternatives, and creating rules around when it's "allowed" to eat sweets (for example: "I can only eat sweets on the weekends").
If you can relate, then there's a good chance you still feel like sugar has power over you. Like you can't trust yourself around it, because once you have one bite, it turns into a binge-fest.
Well, this episode is going to have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about sugar addiction.
During this conversation, my special guest, Leah Kern, an anti-diet dietitian and certified intuitive eating counselor, and I are debunk the myths and misconceptions that have been feeding this sugar-phobic culture.
This episode is not only going to help you understand WHY sugar seems to have such power over you (hint: it's not what you think), but it's only going to give you actionable steps you can take to build a healthier relationship with sugar, and food in general, so that you can:
By the end of our chat, you'll be equipped with a fresh perspective on sugar, and the tools to navigate your food journey in a more balanced way.RESOURCES
