Quantum Biology is the study of teeny tiny, complicated subatomic particles and energy that blow your mind. Being a beneficiary of it can be as simple as standing watching the sunrise or sunset or walking barefoot in the ground.
So, if youâve been daunted in the past, today that ends as we deep dive into this topic with Dr Catherine Clinton, naturopathic physician and Quantum Biology educator helping you understand what the most accessible, truest form of medicine is, and how to make it a part of your life that you connect deeply to and start to seek out. We discuss
The science - what we know and what weâre coming to understand about our biologyCoherence - how everything is connected in nature and what âtuning inâ feels likeHow your quantum biology check-list becomes a want to; a necessity and not another âset of things you have to do for your healthâWhat medicine can you start administering from today, without spending an extra cent on your health?Connect with Dr Catherine on the following platforms;

Allergies - Nearly 1 in 5 kids has an environmental allergy today, and nearly 1 in 10 has a food allergy. While these differ from person to person in severity, they are a challenge on the mental load, in the home and even more so out and about. My good friend and one of my favourite doctors in the world - sheâs SO DANG SMART - Dr Elisa Song @healthykids_happykids and I deep dive into the reason so many families are dealing with allergies and in this comprehensive show, we explore:
The biggest factors playing into how we got here with allergies and poor gut health. How the gut microbiome has changed in 100 years and what species we know are critical to healthy histamine and mast cell âflexibilityâ as we grow. How to be better informed when it comes to antibiotics and how to talk to your doctorTesting and screening optionsTherapeutics - conventional and holisticThe SOS game vs the long game - building resilient health and regulated responses to what we eat and what weâre exposed to in our environments. It is PACKED. I usually say go for a walk in nature, but if your reality is dealing with allergies, itâs PAPER-AND-PEN day today!
I hope itâs useful for you and people you love - share it far and wide + if you want to hear the first show we did together look up show #85 on the childhood epidemics of our times. Itâs also a doozy full of practical wisdom.
And the link to pre-order Elisaâs truly excellent new book is in the bio - her work is seminal in the way sheâs put everything together in here. Bravo Doc!

This show is all about emotions. As Cedric Bertelli, founder of the Emotional Health Institute, explains, our culture is obsessed with trying to control our emotions. It turns out however, it is this desire to control our emotions that inadvertently prevents many of us from developing emotional resilience. So, in this show, we unpack:
How our responses to situations are often formed from events a long time in our pastWhy emotions donât make sense and trying to make them make sense is futileWhat happens in our conscious and subconscious at a point of trauma and how can it form long-term imprints? How phobias can be overcome - and itâs not about âovercomingâ them. How we can break life-long emotional patterns that things like talk therapy havenât helped us resolve? It is a fascinating exploration of memories, trauma and emotions, and how we can break unhelpful loops we might be stuck in, and I hope you or someone you know finds it to be as interesting and helpful as I did.

What is Frugality felt good? What if it was about abundance and positive mental health and a great contribution to wasting less and doing more of what you love?
Well⊠that is what Jen and Jill from Frugal Friends Podcast have made it about and I love it so much Iâve recorded a show with them. We discuss:
Why the negative connotation of frugality and how to flip the script in your life? How does one start to think about living frugally in a way that doesnât conjure 1 jar with a yearâs plastic, making everything from scratch wearing a linen dress in the woods and homeschooling your kids if the stereotype doesnât resonate? What got you both feeling frugal? Did you grow up that way? A crisis? Awakening?Frugal in the kitchen, walk us through your fave ideas that you love to get people onto when theyâre exploring/trying to changeFrugality with appliances and fixing things Frugal living with kids who want âall the things like their friends have!â - how can we make it a potentially positive experience in raising kids? Frugal success - little by little? Personal priorities? Best ways to make change stick? And so much more. I hope you love it as much as we enjoyed having this conversation.

Lisa Mosconi PhD, renowned neuroscientist with over 200 published papers, says: Menopause is having a moment. Sheâs right, and sheâs written the book to meet that moment. The Menopause Brain, a book being celebrated around the world. Gen X has arrived mid-life, with all the state-of-flux symptoms that come with peri-menopause and menopause and said: Enough! Why are we not talking about this? Why are we being gaslit in Drâs offices for our symptoms and being offered multiple medications for anxiety, depression and pain, but not having a conversation about what might help us far more, due to outdated medical research claims of overblown HRT risks? We also have been robbed of the exciting potential for embracing the rite of passage into a new chapter, from a spiritual and personal growth perspective. We discuss:
Menopause is not a disease, and itâs not just âagingâ - it is a neuro-endocrine transition: A biological eventWhatâs happening during this transition and why sex hormones arenât just sex hormonesThe risks that increase from midlife for women including a discussion around Alzheimerâs DiseaseThe benefits of âgetting to the other sideâ from a resilience and cognition perspective. How intentionally do you design your life?
In this show, thatâs what weâre talking about with Chris Guillebeau, whoâs a New York Times bestselling author of The $100 Startup, Side Hustle, The Happiness of Pursuit, and other books. During a lifetime of self-employment that included a four-year commitment as a volunteer executive in West Africa, he visited every country (193 in total) before his 35th birthday. Chris designed his life from an early age and loves showing people who feel called to a more unconventional path, potential ways forward - my favourite thing about Chris and why I brought him to us? No Guru complex. Thereâs a beautiful, gentle style while also calling on us to expose our own hard truths and tap into our gifts. Heâs a great encourager in a world of protocols, critics and clickbait, leading us towards something deeper with this one precious life.
I hope you love it

Dr Neha Sangwan wants us to deeply understand the health benefits of better communication with the self and with others. And so, on this show, we do exactly that, complete with role plays and practical scenarios that you can apply from today!
Communication and its role in health
How we can know if weâre âstuffing downâ things we want to say.
How that might show up in the body and mind over time
What we can start to do to become effective communicators and not âlet things slideâ that fester, and more.
Wow. wow. Wow. Make the time and change your life, is all I have to say about this weekâs show.

Lizzie Williamson brings joy and positive vibes into every room she enters, and today, sheâs here to talk about not only how key movement is for our health, but movement as a joyful thing to do and finding that joy through movement, in a culture that often sees movement as a âhave toâ and something one has to try and find âmotivationâ for. Dr Keri Krieger, a doctor of Chinese Medicine and acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience and I met when I was half naked on a treatment table at a retreat. Iâve loved the energy she brings to the health space ever since. Today, she invites us to explore perimenopause as the opportunity of a lifetime to prune away all that doesnât serve us, tune into our truth to our core, and support this period of great change with good humour, vulnerability and open dialogue. We discuss:
Perimenopause and menopause as medical conditions to âtreatâ - letâs broaden beyond the view of this phase being a condition. Chinese Medicine sees perimenopause as one of the 3 of lifeâs âGolden Opportunitiesâ. Getting the people who love you onboard through your period of change. Food - the best foods to support your system as your digestion capacity decreasesHelpful pressure points and herbal support in teas and supplementsDating during this phase and the stories we tell ourselvesPerimenopause in our workplaces - a challenge, as well as an opportunity to hone our genius. And more. I hope you find it uplifting and soothing, as we both did while recording it.

Iâve been chatting with the Low Tox Life community in DMs and groups lately about that moment when the year settles in and everything feels back to ânormalâ for many people, especially families with the school year in full swing and no holidays around the corner. Rhythms, routines and getting done whatâs got to get done in the week, whether weâre working, at school, or whatever else is going on. I find a lot of gratitude in the mundane. Maybe itâs become Iâve lived through a lot of instability of both health and home and finances through the mould years, or because I moved countries 3 times before I was 5 and then had to live with my grandparents for a bit while my baby sister was really sick and poor mum was at the hospital⊠The boring routine of a week is actually a great relief and joy for me. But I get itâs not that way for many, and the making of dinners and lunch boxes day after day feels more chore than âyayâ - throw endless demands for more âfunâ food, more food like so and so is eating, or your kid getting teased for being the âreal food kidâ and it can be exhausting. Plus? I learnt polling you in my Instagram Stories the other day that most people make - wait for it - INDIVIDUAL MEALS ONE AT A TIME. So, I thought Iâd record a show to address all of the things with tips and tricks, an excerpt from my 2nd book to get us jazzed about bucking the system and providing as much real food for our families and ourselves as we can and release a couple of cooking classes.

If youâre in your fertility years, and you havenât considered the health of your teeth and gums, todayâs show with Dr Lewis Ehlrich helps you understand what the science is showing us about the link between those two things - we cover everything from:
Tooth decay and gum disease and what they can tell a holistic dentist about what might be going onHow whatâs in our saliva can be bad for our health because of how much we swallow each dayHow bleeding when you floss can be a sign of fertility difficulties down the roadHow the way you floss impacts the potential for gum diseaseHow menâs gum health is as important as womenâs in preconception and the impact of sperm motility and even erectile dynsfunctionAnd much more!

Burn out - Experienced it? Did you know most people donâ rtealise heyâre in it when they are? KNow to recognise the signs?
In the modern world there are many things happening to cause a misalignment with our inside and our outside worlds and this misalignment (ever said âyesâ to something you really donât want to do, just to please people, for example?) And today we look at:
Values - how knowing yours helps you avoid decision fatigue and people pleasing. How knowing how you LIKE to show up and what feels easy and comfortable as ways to help others, is the beginning of the end of the draining people pleasing phase of your life!Learning to internalise your health compass, rather than always seeking external answers, to start being able to read your personal alarm bells more effectively to avoid burn out. This weekâs guest, Dr Maya Shetreat, indulges my desire to bring us a BIG conversation this week. We explore the subjects of perimenopause and passage rites in life in general, as well as discuss the bridging of the gap between conventional thinking and mysticism, indigenous wisdom and the risk of its absence in plant medicine trends and traditional, sacred ceremony. We also discuss microdosing psychedelics, meditation and how healing doesnât have to be an epiphany or explosive âmomentâ and in fact. We go to all those places and more in one of the most epic shows Iâve brought to the podcast. Dr. Maya Shetreat is an adult and pediatric neurologist who believes we can inhabit multiple identities. She has spoken around the world and been featured in the New York Times, NPR and Dr. Oz - and she also listens and talks to plants every day. She is a mystic and ancient astrologer grounded in mitochondria, the microbiome and mycelial science. She is an herbalist, artist, ceremonialist, urban farmer, and forager. She is the author of two books, The Master Plant Experience: The Science, Safety, and Sacred Ceremony of Psychedelics (2023) and The Dirt Cure (2016) which has been translated into 10 languages.
Dr. Maya is an expert in many things and also always endeavors to remain a beginner. Intrigued? Enjoy the show, Alexx.

Trauma - a buzzword, lots of awareness around it, solutions coming at us from all angles these days. Perhaps rather than being a âtrend topicâ itâs actually a realisation happening globally that there is a lot of work to do if we want to stop repeating history on personal, cultural and global levels and start experiencing and creating more peace.
But how do we:
Stop being at war and be of service and in gratitude? Navigate out of the safe, small worlds we often create to protect ourselves when weâve been traumatised and live large? Stop our stories torturing us or eating away at our creativity and braveryGet risky enough to have tough conversations personally, professionally, politically, and culturally, to break toxic patterns and âdirty traumaâ as Yemi puts it. Go deeper into understanding trauma and the perception of it or the definition of it changes around the world. Make peace with dark pastsGet men to feel safe evolving beyond their traumas when so often theyâre told âchin up, donât be a wus!âYemi Penn has made it her lifeâs work to muck in and be a part of the many potential solutions through her work as an author, filmmaker, speaker and PhD candidate - a woman wired for impact. We have a brave conversation today about trauma - personal trauma that different people might experience or hear about people close to them experiencing, but also cultural trauma, political trauma, the difference between men and women in trauma and what we know, and how we might work to break trauma lines in a variety of ways.
Itâs a conversation with questions, ideas, suggestions and exploration, not one with answers and blueprints and rigid opinions or beliefs.

Fancy a cheat sheet of 10 key probiotic and gut health needle-movers? Dr Jason Hawrelak, one of Australiaâs leading researchers, teachers and clinicians in the gut health and probiotics space, is recently back from a global probiotic conference in ITALY, and on this show we cover:
Probiotic recommendations, testing and choline for preconception health and babies. The question Jason asked world leading leaky gut expert, Dr Fasano: âGiven the results of your two pivotal ex vivo studies, where you found gluten (gliadin) could cause temporary changes in intestinal permeability, even in healthy intestinal cells, do you agree with the recommendation, that some have made based on your research, that all humans should strictly avoid eating gluten?â. What did he say?! Irritable Bowel Syndrome and the use of Partially Hydrolysed Guar Gum? Still a good idea? Probiotics being bad for SIBO patients: Debunkable? Surely it's essential to have a deep understanding about which ones in which cases might be most helpful? Ellagitannins - get to know them and get consuming them: here's why...Blasto: Not so black and white as simply being 'bad and must be killed?'Glyphosate effect on Microbiome: What has a new study in November revealed?Dr Jason Hawrelak is one of the leading Australian practitioners and educators in gut health and probiotic science. Jason is a researcher, educator, Western herbalist, and naturopath with over 20 yearsâ clinical experience. Ever wonder whether you have the ârightâ to BYO containers to the stores you shop from - especially with the âc*vid times hangoverâ when single use was insisted upon for safety, itâs time to revisit this topic with Bianca Cottle, founder of byocontainers.org - Letâs refresh our enthusiasm for reusing containers and bringing our own wherever we go - I am first to put my hand up and say I let things slide during this time, in case anyoneâs worried Iâm perfect (Thatâs a HARD NO!)
In this show, while the focus is on Australian rules, the themes apply to all of us wanting to reduce and reuse more of the things in our lives! We explore:
The challenges of building a fully sustainable house (something Bianca and her partner have done!) How c*vid set us back in many ways whether it comes to progress for people and planet health but what we can learn from it.What the actual law is on reusing containers and cupsSome of the ways we can encourage businesses rather than criticising them, to drive re-use forward fasterWhat exactly the label âcompostableâ means on bio-plastics and whether perhaps it's too good to be trueThe best reusable containers for different occasion types and situationsAnd a bunch more. Enjoy the show, share it, and letâs reduce our single-use items big time in the year ahead! Alexx x

Clare Press has a way with fashion, a way with words and a passion for finding the threads required to weave a new story for fashion and clothes into the future with her new book âWear Nextâ - a fashion world that is kind, just, regenerative, innovative and inclusive - ditching the dark underbelly of exploitation and microplastic-filled materials currently at play in most stores around the world.
We explore
How buying less, upping quality and reusing clothes and fabrics in fashion can practically play out and not lead to job losses en masseWe explore what's changed - has fashion's sustainability got worse or better? How can we create a more ethical and sustainable fashion future? What is the role of technology in fashionâs future? The divide between celebrity âartâ fashion and everyday peopleâs choices Why did you write this new book, focused on solutions? The challenge of books and important work in a fast-info, head-linings-only worldI also read the first couple of pages of Clareâs book in the intro for you to get a taste of the book's journey and now want to start a new career in audiobook reading - it was so fun!
I hope you enjoy it and remember - buy books. They matter - authors are awesome!

Not every mould situation is a massive problem or leads to complex chronic illness - the good news is thereâs a lot you can do with a couple of tools and some literacy, to prevent mould in your home from causing symptoms or damaging soft furnishings. So, in this show, I answer some of the most common questions Iâve received heading into the humid season here in Australia and, in the show notes you have a tonne more resources to support you if youâre currently worried about mould affecting your home, possessions or health.
So in this show youâll learn how to:
Gauge humidity levels in your homeKnow when itâs time to crank your dehumidification strategy Know what types of units, size/how many you might need if your air management systems in your home donât manage humidity effectively enough as they are. Know how to not be annoyed by noise or heat generated by dehumidifiers with a simple âwhere we are notâ strategy for rotation. Know how often you need to dehumidifyKnow what testing you can consider if you think your problem in the home is beyond humidity and you need to think about mould testingAnd a bonus given Iâve been asked so much lately: Healing from mould on a budget - practical things you can do!Hope itâs helpful and any more questions, letâs keep the conversation going,
Alexx
