In this episode, Sara and Meg discuss the â12 week ruleâ and why itâs so taboo to announce your pregnancy prior to 12 weeks. They dive into why this âruleâ exists, how it can make loss feel so isolating & what they plan to do with their next pregnancy announcements. Sara & Meg encourage this to be an ongoing discussion in their DMs & on the Meant to be Mama community Facebook group. They would love to hear your thoughts, when you announced and how you may or may not do it differently next time around.

Megs Story: Reoccurring Loss

Meet Sara, one of your hosts on Meant to be Mama.
Sara found out she was unexpectedly pregnant in May 2021, which was the greatest surprise of her life for the following two months. She then ended up losing her first baby girl at 13 weeks. She was devastated, felt completely alone and held so much guilt around what she had gone through. She had no idea who to turn to as she didnât know of anyone who had been through this type of loss and was blind sighted at both how painful the grief was and at how few resources there were for women going through this. Sara and her now fiancĂ© immediately started trying to conceive again and got pregnant 10 weeks later in September 2021. Their rainbow baby boy, Knox, arrived here safely in their arms this past June 2022.
Join along this episode to find out her journey to and into motherhood.Timestamps:

We are your hosts; Meg and Sara. Two relatable women on a mission to unpack the real and raw truths of infertility, pregnancy after loss, motherhood and everything in between. We will be sharing our own truths and struggles as we have both experienced our own losses. On our journeys to motherhood, we both felt unsupported and craved a space where we felt less alone. We are not here to wrap anything in a bow or throw silver linings at you but we do realize the importance of hope and faith while also knowing first hand how difficult that is while going through it all.
Our purpose is to create a safe haven for women who have experienced infertility, pregnancy and/or infant loss. We will be discussing our own stories as well as welcoming other women to share theirs and all the different journeys we have taken to âbecoming mamaâ. We will also be unpacking how to navigate life after loss, including topics such as; ways to heal, trying to conceive again, relationships with significant others, family and friends and so much more. If youâve experienced infertility or loss, then this podcast is for you. Or if youâre a friend or family member of someone going through this process and looking for ways to support them on their journey, then this podcast is for you, too. A new episode releases every Wednesday. Please rate and review and make sure you subscribe to stay updated.
