I grew up fascinated and surrounded by cars, and I wanted to showcase the love and adoration that has grown in me for cars and the surrounding culture as a result through audio. I recorded audio from various cars, car shops, and road locations, and even asked my mom to record some audio of my car driving by for an added personal feel.
For additional sounds, I used audio I had previously recorded of nature, large crowds of people talking, and smaller sounds, like the sound of a door closing or the satisfaction of having a good sip of coffee. I also wanted to showcase some of my own original music, which I included at the end of this piece to thematically tie it all together.

Memory is a funny thing. Depending on where you are in life, it can be your personal
medicine or your worst enemy. This piece is a look at one of mine—sounds and places in and
around my grandmother’s apartment in France. One is Sacré-Cœur, the Sacred Heart Basilica of
the Montmartre neighborhood. For those who grew up with European immigrant parents, this
piece speaks about the bittersweet feelings we might have towards our childhood experiences.
How they can come back to us without warning. Without pause or reason, like sometimes we
might want. You never know what sounds or sights may take you back to a previous chapter in
time. They’re a part of who we are, and the journey it took to go forward.

Most kids in my generation grew up as filmmakers. Everyone started a Youtube channel, made funny Photobooth videos or made vlogs with friends. Everyone remembers the distinct sound effects and music samples in iMovie, and the ridiculous filters in Photobooth. In elementary and middle school, I had a Youtube channel. I go through the memory of creating short films for my Youtube channel as a kid, from my creative process to my inspirations at the time that led me to my creative ideas, and what made me want to make films. This is a journey through the sound memories of my childhood short films and vlogs and how they influence me today.
