Writer’s Book Club is just like a regular book club but each month we’ll take a deep dive into a specific novel from a writing craft perspective.
It's a podcast for people who read books with a writer’s eye and find themselves wishing they could ask the author specific writing questions about the novel.
Essentially, it’s a no-holds-barred insight into an author’s writing craft and process, applied to a real-life novel.

Ever wanted to read Dante's Divine Comedy? Come along with us! We're not lost in the scholarly weeds. (Mostly.) We're strolling through the greatest work (to date) of Western literature. Join me, Mark Scarbrough, as I take on this masterpiece passage by passage. I'll give you my rough English translation, show you some of the interpretive knots in the lines, let you in on the 700 years of commentary, and connect Dante's work to our modern world. The pilgrim comes awake in a dark wood, then walks across the known universe. New episodes every Sunday and Wednesday.

Join me, life coach Leslie Crudup Villagarcia and my ever inquisitive co-host, Meka, as we examine personal development books through the lens of intersectionality, making self help content more accessible and relatable.
What is intersectionality?
According to Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw, who coined the term in 1989, "Intersectionality is a metaphor for understanding the ways that multiple forms of inequality or disadvantage sometimes compound themselves and create obstacles that often are not understood among conventional ways of thinking."
So, why did we create this podcast?
Because the personal development/self help/wellness/success world often erases the lived experiences of people from marginalised communities. The truth is that privilege often plays a huge part in a person's success, but do mainstream books admit to this?....Rarely. That's why we're here to extract the gems hidden within the content. To reframe relevant information from these books in a way that will allow us ALL to live well, regardless of race, sexuality, gender identity, neurodiversity, or socioeconomic status!
In other words, we're not just reading between the lines, we're Thriving Between the Lines!

In the popular imagination preppers are eccentric, hoarder types with a fondness for tinned pineapple and a belief that ‘the end of the world as we know it’ is on its way. But as we move into an era that marks time by the rate and severity of disasters – with a pandemic in the rear view and more black summers out ahead – isn’t it about time we all started to prepare?
As heat records break and the weather becomes wilder, are we preparing hard and fast enough for the climate changes that are coming? And what’s happening at UNSW and beyond to get us ready? Investigative humorist and climate action enthusiast Dan Ilic, presents Preppers, a new podcast by the UNSW Centre for Ideas.
Are you getting ready?
