The Holy Spirit offers a connection to God even greater than Jesus in the fleshâbut many Christians struggle to experience this profound reality. In this episode, Diane interviews pastor and author Tyler Staton about his book, The Familiar Stranger, and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Tyler discusses common misunderstandings about the Spirit and how modern distractions hinder spiritual growth, leading to division within the church. He shares pivotal moments in his journey, including a life-changing visit to a church in London, and highlights the importance of prayer, desire, and Scripture in bridging the gap between belief and everyday life. This conversation is an invitation to move beyond intellectual understanding and into a deeper, more authentic relationship with God.
About Tyler |Tyler Staton is the Lead Pastor of Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, and the National Director of 24-7 Prayer USA. He is passionate about pursuing prayer in the honest realities of day-to-day life. In today's episode, author, Courtney Carver and I dive into a question that feels more urgent than ever: When was the last time you gave yourself permission to pause, rest, and truly reset? In a world that tells us happiness and success come from doing more and pushing harder, many of us are left feeling like weâre never enough. But what if thereâs another way? Today, weâll explore the transformative wisdom of Courtney's new book, Gentle: Rest More, Stress Less, and Live the Life You Actually Want. Joining me for today's episode is host of the Simple Intentional Podcast, Sarah Horgan. After a stage four cancer diagnosis ten years ago, Sarah found herself reevaluating her life, leading her to embrace a minimalist lifestyle and confront perfectionism and people-pleasing habits.During our conversation, Sarah opens up about how this life-altering experience helped her discover a deeper sense of purpose and how significant life events, such as losing a loved one, can bring clarity and inspire change. She shares practical strategies for decluttering your life, staying mindful amidst the challenges of motherhood, and focusing on incremental progress to achieve long-term goals. Minimalism isn't just an aesthetic, rather it can be a tool to discover greater purpose and clarity in life.
About Sarah |Sarah is a full-time working mom + wife, who lived with clutter and found her way to the other side. She radically changed her own life after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Forced to examine everything, including her perfectionism and people pleasing, she realized all the stuff (and not just the physical stuff) was standing in her way of living her life, her way.
After embracing minimalism and finding her way to simplicity, Sarah started simple + intentional to support other women to do the same. She encourages + inspires others through her instagram account, podcast and online membership community.
Sarah lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter. She loves the outdoors, a strong cup of tea and is following her dreams, one step at a time.
