Both Zechariah and Mary received messages from the Lord through an angel, but they responded differently. Sally Burkeâs introduction to the ministry in 1990 was life changing. Compelled by joy and the hope God gave as she prayed with others for her children and their schools, Sally began to reach out and share with other momsâfirst as a Moms in Prayer group leader, then area coordinator for her hometown of Temecula, California, and later as regional coordinator for Riverside County. In 2008, Sally became the Director of Field Ministry at Moms in Prayer headquarters, overseeing ministry expansion worldwide. Today, in her role as President of Moms in Prayer International, her vision remains unchanged, that more children and schools and moms might experience Godâs life-changing answers to prayer. Sally is also an international speaker, teacher and author of Raise Them Up, Start with Praise, Unshaken and the Unshaken Study Guide.
As a child growing up in Florida, Sally was fascinated with the space program and began her career as a space shuttle engineer with a Master of Science in Management. After her marriage and the birth of two children, Sally and her husband came to faith in Christ, and Moms in Prayer soon became a top priority. She and husband, Ed, now have four grown children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. In her leisure time, youâll find Sally on a walk/run, curled up with a good book or enjoying the company of friends.
Fern Nichols is a former elementary school teacher and the founder of Moms in Prayer International, a prayer movement that mobilizes women around the world to gather together to pray for their children and schools. In 1984, Fern was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. She knew the school would be a battlefield for their hearts and minds. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. Her response was an immediate âyes,â and that was the humble beginning of Moms in Prayer that now spans the USA in every state and is in more than 150 countries. Fern has traveled to almost every continent in the world speaking, teaching and training women how to pray effectively. She and her husband Rle have been married for over 50 years. They were involved with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) for 15 years. They have four children and 10 grandchildren.

Susan Shepherd joyfully serves as the USA Country Coordinator for Moms in Prayer International coaching, encouraging, and working with amazing godly women across the United States. She joined a Moms in Prayer group in 1996 when her daughters were in elementary school. Since then, sheâs experienced the peace, power, and perspective of watching God work in the lives of children and schools and she is passionate about sharing this hope and joy with other moms. Susan is married to Joe, mom to two married daughters, and the grandmother of three with another grandchild on the way. Susan loves to pray, but she also likes coffee with friends, traveling, and a good book.
Cathi Armitage is the Global Ministry Director for Moms in Prayer International and has been involved in the ministry for thirty years. Cathi and her team oversee the ministry in over 150 countries and counting. She and her high school sweetheart, Matt, have been married for thirty-nine years and have one daughter, three sons and two daughters-in-law who know and love Jesus. She now has the privilege to pray for a new generation with one granddaughter. Cathi and Matt live in Southern California where she enjoys cooking with and for her family. She also enjoys hiking in the local canyons and standup paddle boarding in the Pacific, where she watches the rest of her family surf. It is during those times that they all experience Godâs glorious creation up close and personal.

Prayer isnât always the easiest, most convenient or comfortable thing to do, but the fruit that comes from it lasts for eternity. Wrestling with inner arguments immediately began after receiving an invitation to a Moms in Prayer group: âIâll sound like a fool.â âI donât have time for that.â âWhatâs the point?â Fears, idols, and doubts rose up in opposition to what Mary Jane knew was the right thing to do. She didnât feel like doing the uncomfortable, the inconvenient, nor the irrational.
But God.
Through Holy Spiritâs conviction and empowerment, she said âyesâ to a friendâs (and the Lordâs) invitation to attend a Moms in Prayer group. Despite the fear of others, the opposition of her flesh, and the lies of the enemy, she showed up. And is beyond glad that she did!
Mary Jane cannot imagine how radically different life would have been without Moms in Prayer.
Now 20 years later, after her first yes to Moms in Prayer, she can testify that she has seen many children, including her own three daughters, grow up to love, serve and follow the Lord. In addition, by Godâs grace, school communities have been sustained and strengthened despite the temptations and trials of this world. Finally, praying Godâs good and beautiful word has helped her and other moms to live victoriously in Christ instead of unnecessarily defeated by the enemy.
Praise be to Jesus Christ, who has destroyed the barriers! Fellow sisters in Christ, may we demolish arguments and be found faithful to follow the Lord, no matter what He asks us to do, especially with Moms in Prayer.

Sally Burkeâs introduction to the ministry in 1990 was life changing. Compelled by joy and the hope God gave as she prayed with others for her children and their schools, Sally began to reach out and share with other momsâfirst as a Moms in Prayer group leader, then area coordinator for her hometown of Temecula, California, and later as regional coordinator for Riverside County. In 2008, Sally became the Director of Field Ministry at Moms in Prayer headquarters, overseeing ministry expansion worldwide. Today, in her role as President of Moms in Prayer International, her vision remains unchanged, that more children and schools and moms might experience Godâs life-changing answers to prayer. Sally is also an international speaker, teacher and author of Raise Them Up, Start with Praise, Unshaken and the Unshaken Study Guide.
As a child growing up in Florida, Sally was fascinated with the space program and began her career as a space shuttle engineer with a Master of Science in Management. After her marriage and the birth of two children, Sally and her husband came to faith in Christ, and Moms in Prayer soon became a top priority. She and husband, Ed, now have four grown children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. Georgene Kamphuis is a graphic designer on the Communications Team for Moms in Prayer International. She designs for web and print, creating images for the MIP website and products, event graphics, presentations, social media, and publications. After several years working in the corporate world as a designer Georgene became a full-time mom who freelanced from home. For a few years she volunteered to do graphics for MIP and then about 16 years ago joined their staff.
She was first introduced to Moms in Prayer in 1989 when she met another mom interested in praying for their children and the new elementary school in the neighborhood. She and her husband live in North San Diego County, California. Three daughters, their husbands, two teenage grandsons, and a three-year-old granddaughter keep her praying in a Moms in Prayer Group every week. There have been countless answers to prayer these 35 years of praying for her kids, their kids, and their schools.
Georgene loves gardening, reading, and keeping in touch with her friends. Working full-time for Moms in Prayer with other women with the same passion for prayer and Jesus hasn't been like working, but fun, and a gift from God.

Lorielle Agraso is a follower of Jesus with a heart for revival and God's truth. She became a stay-at-home mom after her first of three was born. Her husband Gabe, is often traveling for work, and she found a deeper calling for her home and family as she learned to trust God in much of the solitary time. She was born and raised in Southern California, but recently moved to middle Tennessee, where the family has lived for almost 4 years. This was a big leap of faith, drenched in much prayer, but Lorielle found peace in surrendering what she once controlled, to dive deeper into what God was providing their family. They now live on 16 acres with 3 children (1 girl and 2 boys), 24 chickens, 6 ducks, 5 dogs and 2 kittens with hopes to add additional animals in the years to come. She loves growing her garden, cooking, trying new things and having friends and family over for game nights. Her faith has become her biggest adventure and each season she looks forward to the time spent with God as He plants new seeds and brings her into the next chapters He intends her walk to through.

Vicki Petkevich is part of the Global Team for Moms in Prayer International overseeing Oceania and the Caribbean and serves as an Area Coordinator for parts of San Diego, CA. She finds great joy in uniting, training and equipping mothers to pray for children and schools.
She was first introduced to Moms in Prayer in 2006 when a friend invited her to visit her MIP group. A mother of four young children at the time, she was hooked after that first meeting because of the focused prayer time and praying scripture over her children.
Currently, Vicki and her husband reside in San Diego, CA. Three of her adult children reside in California and her youngest is attending college at the University of Idaho. Her early career was as an elementary school teacher, then she transitioned to a stay-at-home mom and serving in Childrenâs Ministry. She loves hosting family get-togethers, trying new culinary recipes, reupholstering furniture, and traveling with her husband. Her faith is the cornerstone of her life and Moms in Prayer has been an anchor for her to be surrounded by sisters of faith who embrace the power of prayer.

She now prays for her adult children in a career group and has the joy of praying in a Grandmas in Prayer group. Kendra serves as the Southwest Division Coordinator for Moms in Prayer.
Kendra and her husband reside in Oklahoma. They have two adult sons, 2 wonderful daughters-in-love, and two precious grandchildren. Kendra enjoys playing the harp, taking walks with her husband, and playing and praying with and for her grandchildren!
One of her favorite verses is Psalm 5:3 âIn the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.â
