The Accoutant is back! Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal finally reunite for a sequel to The Accountant, a film that absolutely no one when to go see when it came out almost ten years back but has garnered great shelf life. I, myself, saw the first film a good few years ago and also happened to quite enjoy it. It's not the best of its genre and nowhere near some of director Gavin O'Connor's finest work, but it's a solid action thriller but done with a great twist. At last, Amazon MGM Studios and Ben Affleck's Artists Equity have teamed up to give us the sequel, with most of the creative team returning. Does The Accountant 2 top the first film? Find out in this review!

Director Ryan Coogler is back to deliver us more goods on the big screen with his latest original film, of course with Michael B. Jordan, Sinners. The trailers for this film have been absolutely fascinating and the hints over the years of Coogler's next project being an original and a horror film were extremely exciting to me. That's because I don't think he's made a single movie below the 'great' level. I enjoy his two Black Panther films immensely and about equally. The two more impressive outings in his career so far though have been his debut feature Fruitvale Station, a heartbreaking true story, and one of the greatest sports films of all-time: Creed, a legacy sequel that managed to top anything that had come before... and the original Rocky won Best Picture! Coogler is one of the best working directors, as I've clearly established, and him managing to make a high-budget, genre-blender and still managing to maintain the rights is just such a boss move, while the very easy next step for him would have been to continue immediately with what would've been a surefire hit in Black Panther III. Anyhow, is this movie as good as the rave reviews so far have indicated? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review!

Well, well, well. The first season of Daredevil: Born Again has now wrapped up its 9-episode run on Disney+. As I’m sure you all know, the original Daredevil show on Netflix is quite possibly my favorite TV series of all-time. I’m not going to go through the whole spiel of my excitement going into this show as that has already been very well documented on this podcast. I was one of the people who did really like the first two episodes and I have been holding in my very all over the place thoughts on this season for the last six or so weeks. FINALLY, it’s time to discuss my thoughts on the season, with FULL spoilers ahead!

Hey everybody, welcome back to MOVIE Morning where, today, I'll be reviewing The Amateur. This is the latest studio action thriller, but this time from 20th Century Studios, starring Academy Award Winner Rami Malek. It has a pretty stacked cast that also includes Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane!), Caitriona Balfe, Holt McCallany and Jon Bernthal, the Punisher himself. I only heard of this film about a month back and immediately put it on my watchlist. I love mid-budget action thrillers like this, and I like them the best when they're about the unlikely action heroes and not the invincible John Wick's of the world. Although, of course, who doesn't love John Wick? I also liked that it looked to have more of a serious edge than these films typically have nowadays. So, what did I think of The Amateur? Find out in this review!
The Amateur:
Directed by: James Hawes
Screenplay by: Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli
Based on the novel by: Robert Littell

Cinematography by: Martin Ruhe
Editing by: Jonathan Amos
Casting by: Martin Ware
Production Design by: Maria Djurkovic
Costume Design by: Susie Harman

Christopher Landon - director of Happy Death Day and Freaky - is back with his latest film, Drop. I was a HUGE fan of both of those crowd-pleasing, horror-comedies (one of the most underutilized genres in Hollywood today) but I didn't quite love the premise or trailer for Drop. I don't know if that's because I was expecting kind of his usual shtick of a fun sci-fi spin on a slasher. Even Heart Eyes, which he wrote alongside one of his Freaky co-writer Michael Kennedy, was a slasher combined with another genre, rom-coms. And, to great success I might add. I just thought the premise required such a crazy leap of suspension of disbelief that I just couldn't get into the idea. Did the film win me over? Find out in this review!
Drop:
Directed by: Christopher Landon

Produced by: Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller

Casting by: Ally Conover, Sarah Domeier Lindo, Terri Taylor

Synopsis: Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry, is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.

Do you know what the best part of this movie finally releasing is? I NEVER have to see the awful trailer for this movie in front of other films again! A Minecraft Movie has dropped in theaters worldwide and I had the immense "pleasure" of seeing it earlier today. Was it good? Well, what do you think? I definitely had a Minecraft phase when I was younger, but that was over ten years ago and I have not cared much for the game since then. I've always known that making a movie out of it is a dumb idea because the game doesn't exactly lend itself to narrative features. There's a reason there's only been ONE of these games. So, how did the film turn out? Find out in this review!
A Minecraft Movie:

If you went to go see A Minecraft Movie this weekend, you probably noticed a nice surprise before the movie started. An extended preview for James Gunn's SUPERMAN played, finally giving fans a new look at the latest iteration of the Man of Steel before he flies into theaters on July 11. As I'm sure you know, Superman has been my most anticipated movie of the last few years, partly because I've DESPERATELY missed Superman on the big screen but also because I LOVE James Gunn's films. In fact, I love ALL of his comic book films, even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. So, it should be no surprise that I spent double a normal ticket price just to see A Minecraft Movie in IMAX for this preview. Does it deliver on everything I hoped from this movie? Find out right here! I'll also be fully recapping what happens in the preview if you didn't get a chance to see the clip!
EDIT: The clip is already online!

Jason Statham is back with yet another mid-budget action thriller, this time he’s again teaming up with his ‘The Beekeeper’ director David Ayer. Ayer is, of course, most famous for the Suicide Squad debacle that occurred back in 2016. The Beekeeper, as most Jason Statham films, definitely garnered a solid box office return which is why the two were quick to pair up again but I seemed to be in the minority because I didn’t like it very much. And I am by no means a cinema snob who can’t enjoy B-movies like this; I check out almost all of Statham’s action movies because I find him to be a very entertaining movie star. So, is A Working Man an improvement on The Beekeeper in my book, or should these two stay after from each other in future endeavors? Find out in this review!
A Working Man:
Directed by: David Ayer
Screenplay by: Sylvester Stallone and David Ayer
Based on the book "Levon's Trade" by: Chuck Dixon
Produced by: David Ayer, Bill Block, John Friedberg, Chris Long, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Kevin King Templeton
Executive Producers: Volodymyr Artemenko, Rachael Cole, Alexis Garcia, Beau Harrington, Michael Heimler, Teddy Schwarzman, Mike Shanks, Jill Silfen, Yevgen Stupka, Thomas Zadra
Music by: Jared Michael Fry
Cinematography by: Shawn White
Editing by: Fred Raskin
Casting by: Finnian Tweed
Production Design by: Nigel Evans
Cast: Jason Statham, David Harbour, Michael Peña
Synopsis: Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.

Jack Reacher is back for his 3rd adventure on Prime Video. Reacher season 3 has wrapped up its run on Amazon and this will be the first time I cover the show on MOVIE Morning! I caught up on Reacher not too long after season 2 released and fell in love with the vibe of this show and Alan Ritchson’s pitch perfect portrayal of Jack Reacher. Each of the first two seasons had many great qualities to them and they also felt different, which is very refreshing for a TV show. And season 3, based on the book ‘Persuader’, might just be the strongest season of the Nick Santora Prime Video series yet. Find out why in this review of all 8 episodes!

Oh, boy. What a day. The full (?) cast for Avengers: Doomsday has now been revealed, through a laughably long livestream involving chairs... and, in true MCU fashion, a brief cameo by RDJ - Doctor Doom - himself. In this breakdown, I will go through all the big names and surprises that were revealed to be a part of Avengers: Doomsday, which is now in production, as well as cover some of the VERY noticeable absences. And of course, most importantly, you'll also get a glorious rant on this approach of announcing the cast from yours truly. Enjoy!

Everyone’s most anticipated movie of the year (wink, wink) - SNOW WHITE, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot - has released in theaters. Listen, I watched Snow White about as much as any guy when I was younger, but I haven’t exactly kept it as a favorite since I was like 5 years old. Also, I’m completely sick of Disney live-action remakes and had less than no interest going into this movie. I do love Marc Webb as a filmmaker though, even though I don’t love all his movies, because he’s fantastic at creating realistic character relationships onscreen. Snow White, though, wasn’t ever exactly going to be the best showcase of his skills. So, did Snow White surpass my rock bottom expectations? Find out in this review!
Snow White:
Directed by: Marc Webb
Screenplay by: Erin Cressida Wilson
Based on the fairy tale by: The Brothers Grimm

Synopsis: A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as ‘the fairest in the land’, and Snow White’s beauty surpasses her own.

Hey everybody, welcome back to another review here on MOVIE Morning. Today, I'm reviewing one of my most anticipated action, mid-budget films of the whole year: NOVOCAINE, starring Jack Quaid. The trailer for this film that came out a few months ago immediately put this film on my radar. It had a U.S. release just a few days ago and I had the chance to see it a bit early, relatively, here in the U.K. thanks to a Mystery Screening. So far, Jack Quaid's already been having a pretty good year because I was a big fan of Companion, the horror-comedy that came out at the end of January. So, is Novocaine one of the most fun action films of recent memory? Find out in this review!
Novocaine:
Directed by: Dan Berk, Robert Olsen

The Russo Brothers are back with another film... and it's, yet again, another straight to streaming one. Since Avengers: Endgame, the Russos have not been producing the most critically-acclaimed hits, to be nice. Cherry on Apple TV+ was critically panned, The Gray Man received mixed reviews and a lot of their other produced content, like the Citadel universe, was destroyed online. Now, they've devised to go back to the MCU to direct the next two Avengers movies... but until then(!), we've got a $300M+ Netflix movie to enjoy! And those have a great track record, don't they? Don't forget as well, this time the Russos have the writers of all three Captain America movies and the Infinity War/Endgame double feature along with them. Find out whether The Electric State is a return to form for the Russos in this review!
The Electric State:
Directed by: Anthony Russe & Joe Russo
Screenplay by: Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely

Steven Soderbergh is back with his 2nd film in under three months: BLACK BAG, a new spy film starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. Hey everyone, welcome back to MOVIE Morning, this time for a bit more of a low-key review... in a weekend of MANY reviews. Black Bag just hit theaters yesterday and it has gotten some pretty fantastic early reviews but I'm someone who very rarely LOVES Soderbergh's work. All his films are certainly watchable and his vast filmography proves his versatility as a filmmaker but I think his movies can often feel a little too safe and middling in quality. Is Black Bag a big departure from that? Is it the BEST film of 2025 so far? Find out in this review!
Black Bag:
Directed by: Steven Soderbergh
Written by: David Koepp
Produced by: Gregory Jacobs, Casey Silver
Executive Producer: David Koepp
Music by: David Holmes
Cinematography by: Steven Soderbergh
Editing by: Steven Soderbergh
Production Design by: Philip Messina
Casting by: Carmen Cuba
Costume Design by: Ellen Mirojnick
Cast: Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Marisa Abela, Regé-Jean Page, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Pierce Brosnan
Synopsis: When his beloved wife is suspected of betraying the nation, an intelligence agent faces the ultimate test – loyalty to his marriage or his country.

The greatest superhero show in the universe has returned! Invincible is back on Prime Video and has now wrapped up with its 3rd - and, possibly, craziest - season yet. I have loved this show since season 1 and then diving deep into the original comic book series by Robert Kirkman, almost four years ago now. Season 3 finally kicked off some of the long-running storylines that will likely continue through to the series's end, introducing Oliver as a main character and delving into the beginning of Nolan's redemption (... or is it?). This review will include SPOILERS for this season but I will refrain from talking about the future storylines the show will explore, based off the original comic book series. Enjoy!

OSCAR winning director Bong Joon Ho has finally returned with his next film - a book adaptation - Mickey 17 from Warner Bros. Pictures. This was easily one of my most anticipated films of the year because Parasite is easily one of the best Best Picture winners of the last decade and it made history by being the first International film to ever win Best Picture. Mickey 17 looked like a complete blast from the trailers but I also immediately knew this movie would be dead on arrival in cinemas because the marketing was just a little too gonzo for general audiences. Early buzz for the film was strong so I went in hyped. Is Mickey 17 on the level of Parasite? Find out in this review!
Mickey 17:
Written and Directed by: Bong Joon Ho
Based on the novel "Mickey 7" by: Edward Ashton
Produced by: Dooho Choi, Dede Gardner, Bong Joon Ho, Jeremy Kleiner
Executive Producers: Pete Chiappetta, Peter Dodd, Jesse Ehrman, Marianne Jenkins, Andrew Lary, Brad Pitt, Anthony Tittanegro
Music by: Jung Jae-il
Cinematography by: Darius Khondji
Edited by: Jinmo Yang
Casting by: Francine Maisler
Production Design by: Fiona Crombie
Costume Design by: Catherine George
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Anamaria Vartolomei
Synopsis: Unlikely hero Mickey Barnes finds himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.

After six and a half years, Daredevil has finally returned to screens! That's right, Daredevil: Born Again has finally premiered on Disney+! It has been a long and tumultuous road getting to the moment of finally getting this show. From the highly publicized creative overhaul to the incredibly naive & silly comments made by the show runner just a few weeks back, this show hasn't exactly had an easy road getting to our screens. For those of you who are unaware, the Netflix Daredevil series might be my single favorite show of all-time; it's CERTAINLY my favorite comic book show ever and that will likely never be topped. Daredevil himself has always been one of my top three favorite Marvel Comics characters and Charlie Cox's iteration of the character is a better version than I'd ever imagined we could get onscreen. It just feels right for this show to continue, but Marvel Studios & Disney+'s track record hasn't been great, especially of late. Are the first 2 episodes of Daredevil: Born Again AS GOOD as the original show? Find out in this SPOILER review!

Hello, everybody! Welcome back to MOVIE Morning where, today, we'll be discussing the 2025 Best Picture nominees! More specifically, I'll be ranking them based off my preferences, NOT by how likely they are/were to win Best Picture at the OSCARS this year. This is always a really interesting ranking because these films are supposed to be the best of the year, but they rarely represent that for me personally. At the same time, there are very few Best Picture nominees that I actually dislike. So, how do I rank this year's Best Picture nominees? Find out in this episode! Make sure to let me know which one is your favorite on the Spotify Polls!
