Alfred Packer was no wilderness guide, or at least he wasn’t a talented one. This quirky prospector was known to be a petty thief and compulsive liar who shifted around from job to job. But in 1874, he convinced 5 men to follow him into the woods for what was supposed to be a seven-day trip. Months later, Packer emerged from the woods alone and strangely fit considering the lack of food.
In this episode, Jenn walks Joe through this strange story about the man now known as the Colorado Cannibal.

You may know the story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, but you’ve never seen it told so intimately and with so much harrowing heart as in J.A. Bayona’s Society of the Snow. Adapted from the book by Pablo Vierci, the film achieves terrifying accuracy with painstaking recreations, on-location filming, and a young cast of South American newcomers.
Jenn and Joe continue a month on Survival Cannibalism with this beautiful retelling. Bayona chronicles not just the 72 days members of the Old Christians Club Rugby Team spent stranded in the Andes, but brings us into their lives before and after the disaster.

Jenn and Joe begin covering Survival Cannibalism texts with Frank Marshall’s 1993 film Alive. Adapted from the book by Piers Paul Read, the film brings to life the 72 days survivors of the doomed Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 were stranded on a mountain high in the Andes.
This harrowing film has haunted us both since childhood, but how does Marshall handle the story’s darker moments and an inspirational trek out of the mountains?
Discussions include: a horrifying plane crash reenactment, changing the names of the dead, and catching up with the survivors twenty years later.

After two months of discussing serial killers of women targeting the Pacific Northwest, we're ready to wrap up our time with Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway.
Up for discussion: what makes them similar? What distinguishes them? Why are there so many more adaptations of Bundy's story and who do most of them fail? And if the limited series model is the best way to tell both stories, is Ryan Murphy the (only) one to do it?

The 1972 Summer Olympic Games were supposed to be a time of joyful competition. As athletes gathered from around the world, the German government actively tried to create a “carefree” environment. But early in the morning of September 5, terrorists forced their way into the athlete's dorms, intent on holding the Israeli team hostage.
Jenn walks Joe through the harrowing events of that fateful day while introducing the unlikely news team that broadcast live coverage around the world...

Jenn and Joe cover their final Bundy text with Amber Sealey’s No Man of God. This upsetting story dramatizes the series of interviews FBI profiler Bill Hagmaier conducted with the convicted serial killer during the ten years he sat on death row.
Plus: an impressive script, sexism in the workplace, and the most effective portrayal of Ted Bundy to date.

Jenn and Joe dip into the Lifetime vault to cover a sprawling adaptation of a decades-spanning case with Norma Bailey’s “The Capture of the Green River Killer.”
Split narratives recount the nineteen years Gary Ridgway spent hunting for victims in the Pacific Northwest and the task force dedicated to bringing him down while a fictionalized character represents his 49 confirmed victims.
