  • Trump has been doing his best to bypass Congress and the courts whenever he can. In this episode, we take stock of how far Trump has gone to consolidate power in the executive branch.

In a recent example of executive power expanding, SCOTUS granted the president the right to fire independent Federal commissioners. Trump then removed ALL the board members of the Election Assistance Committee, an independent committee established by Congress to assist States during election time.

One of Trump’s most important supporters in his efforts to become a de facto king was Senator Lindsay Graham, who passed away last weekend.

  • 18-year-old Nolan Wells was found dead after going missing while boating off the coast of Mississippi with a group of all-white friends. Nolan is Black, mixed race.

In a county that is 66% white, 19% Black, the white sheriff was quick to close the investigation into Nolan’s death and say there was no wrongdoing. The mother of one of the boys involved is a local judge, and she was quick to get on social media and echo the sheriff’s statement.

We’re not saying there was foul play. We are saying that the rush to claim ‘no foul play’ breeds mistrust in a racially sensitive case.

Our hearts go out to the Wells family in their quest for answers.

  • Native Land Pod is without one of our hosts for this episode. We ask for your prayers and support for Andrew Gillum, who was arrested in Daphne, Alabama last week.

Andrew was charged with marijuana possession and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. One of the officers said they saw a glass pipe in the center console, prompting a search of his vehicle.

In this episode, our hosts respond to the press coverage of Andrew’s arrest, process hard feelings, and reflect on how best to support loved ones struggling with addiction.

  • This week we're breaking down how extreme the attacks on voting rights and election interference have gotten, and the case studies that prove it's not slowing down.

Host Angela Rye sits down with students from North Carolina A&T, the nation's largest HBCU, who are leading the fight to restore on-campus early voting after Guilford County and the NC State Election Board pulled the site ahead of the 2026 General Election.

Board Member Prentiss Haney from the Ohio Organizing Collaborative joins us to talk about the organization's recent FBI raid and what it signals about the targeting of organizers on the ground.

Plus, Liban Mohamed, who is running for Congress in Utah, breaks down how the state is trying to build a case against him for violating Utah code 20A-3a-208 for assisting someone at the polls, despite him not being anywhere near the voting polls on voting day.
