We all face suffering. Whether it’s past, present, or coming. Suffering is a guarantee in the life of a Christian. Scott and Morgan Parks experienced a season of suffering and, amidst the hurt, decided to leverage it for the glory of God. We unpack their story of loss, their unique healing journeys - the good, the bad, and the ugly, and we talk about how God inspired their boutique as a platform to love other people walking through loss.
Our conversation is hard, but needed. If you’re hurting or you haven’t healed from past hurt, I hope you feel seen, loved, and encouraged today. I hope Jesus draws you into His healing wings and you find rest for your soul there. And don’t hurt alone.
Be sure to check out the Parks’ amazinggggg boutique: @shopteddyrose

Welcome to the unfiltered wheel of topics – Caitlin talks very transparently about her journey with anxiety and the rollercoaster it’s been weaning off medication, we talk about the power of God on display in the book of Revelation, and what’s easy and hard in our lives right now. And then of course we cover trends were loving, the weird stuff Caitlin has in her bag at all times, and the disastrous cooking class we recently attended. We laugh, we talk about recently crying, and we try and give you the real us. Our hope is you feel seen, you can laugh at yourself (or just at us), and you’re encouraged to keep pursuing Jesus.

The alternate title to this episode was "swipe right" because that's how Lysa and Chaz's love story started. This episode is FULL of gems. We get an inside look at why dating is hard, how to work through trust issues (we all have them), why doing the work on yourself is worth it, and what we can do to trust God when we just straight up don't feel like it.
Their love story will give you hope. It's a reminder that there is beauty after the pressing, my friend.
Lysa TerKeurst is a New York Times Bestseller Author, Speaker, and President of Proverbs 31 Ministries. She has written TONS of incredible books, but her newest one, I Want to Trust You, but I Don't, is a must read.

Have you ever wondered how to know and trust God's goodness while staring trauma and past hurt in the face? Ashley has walked the road of deep darkness and pain, but where scars remain are her testimony of God's goodness. She has used her pain as a platform to tell people about Jesus and the way she lives her life is a reflection of radical transformation. I cannot wait for you to hear this conversation.

He spent his life rescuing others (literally like from pirate ships) and along the way got rescued himself (by Jesus). With over 20 years serving and leading in the Navy, Victor faced experiences that forged his faith in a deep way. He’s walked through isolation, forgiveness, and racism. And now he lives a life serving others and being a light on the hill.

Kyle and Bailey ooze Jesus from their pores. They both had (have) dreams and callings, but they weren’t totally unified on those callings at the same time. But, God took them on a beautiful journey of surrender and prayer to seek what He was telling them to do. And now it has landed them in South Africa as long term missionaries, working to equip people and spread the gospel. It’s been a rollercoaster of small steps towards obedience, but they are now walking in a freedom and abundance that they never knew possible.

From walking in my why, practicing humility (in both pride and insecurity), and trying to figure out how the heck to be a podcaster, this year has been WILD. We are celebrating one whole year of the Neighbors Podcast and this episode, Ali unpacks 10 learnings from our first year and how it applies to any dream or life experience (not just podcasting).
Mostly, we are just so grateful for YOU. Neighbors is not Neighbors without every listen, view, subscriber, follower, and friend. So thanks for being as much a part of this journey as we are. Here’s to year 2!

Ron's story is one of redemption in so many ways. From a tough childhood (to say the least) to drug running to being radically saved and changing his life, Ron embodies what it looks like to be on mission everywhere he goes.
Ron is the Founder and Executive Director of Sponsored by Grace, a ministry that exists to empower children and families by sharing the Gospel, connecting them to a local faith family, and meeting their physical needs, along with Grounds of Grace, a local coffee company that serves to support the mission and vision of Sponsored by Grace. In summary, Ron is moving mountains in the city of Jacksonville by walking out what God has called him to do.

Another episode with your favorite, and mine, Caitlin Armstrong. The Wheel of Topics is back (this is the least creative name, but it’s all we got) and we cover Target horror stories, the Olympics in review, our favorite parables, and confidence to wear makeup when we feel like it...or not.

If anyone knows about wearing a crown, it's Demi. But, as powerful as being crowned Miss Universe in 2017 was, she quickly discovered that title was fleeting and was faced with an identity crisis. And so started her identity journey of rooting herself in Jesus. We talk confidence, purpose, friendship, and how God gives us experiences to always draw us near Him. Demi is full of stories, wisdom, and learnings from her walk with the Lord as she has stepped from season to season. Season 3 is coming to an end and there felt like no better way to close it out than with this special conversation with my very own parents. Now in their mid 60s, they have raised 3 girls, led amazing careers (paid and unpaid), and now are taking retirement head on as an opportunity to deepen their faith and share it with others. I am inspired by their boldness and encouraged by their reflection on what they did and didn’t do as parents, spouses, friends, and followers of Jesus. I love these two people so deeply and I hope this conversations brightens your day!

What can I say about Dr. Asher other than his relationship with Jesus is what we should all strive for. He has tasted “success” by the world’s standard and through his 15+ year journey with cancer, he has truly found the secret of being content. We talk about worship through the valleys, the clarity a diagnosis like cancer can bring, and how every day we get to serve God is a gift. This is a man I look up to and I think you will too!

Gretchen and Rebecca are two of the most powerhouse women I know. They are seasoned moms who are launching teens to college this month and have so much wisdom on parenting. And it doesn’t include a list of ten steps to be a better parent. It’s full of grace and authenticity. Space for your kids to be themselves and to come alongside them to point them to our Heavenly Father. If you have teens, will have teens one day, or know a teenager, this one is for you. And to all our parents feeling graduation coming too fast, we see you and love you.

When God closes a door he once opened, what do you do? Do you move towards trust or towards control? Ben Harrell’s authenticity and vulnerability is REFRESHING to say the least. He talks about his journey of God giving him a specific calling to move overseas and be a missionary and then how that calling changed. How he walked the windy road of coping - both negative and positive - and learned to trust God again. There is so much to glean from his experiences and wisdom!

There are few people that radiate Jesus the way Maureen Kaderi does. Growing up in the third largest slum of Kenya, Maureen knows poverty more than most. Her story is one of redemption, restored hope, and a good God who never forgot her. We laugh, we cry, and we praise God. Maureen now runs a ministry called Mercy House Global, which rescues pregnant teens off the streets of Kenya to give them hope and a brighter future. This woman is moving mountains with not only her faith and actions, but her whole life.

Grief comes in all different shapes, sizes, colors, timelines, and emotions. It can sneak up when you least expect it and leave you feeling lost and alone. Joye has walked this road of grief. She is walking it. But she does it with joy (and not just because that’s her literal name). This conversation is FULL of what it looks like to not get lost in loss. Joye is an actual ray of sunshine on a rainy day and even though a lot of her days have been rainy the last two years, she has received it as her God-given assignment to point people to the only true source of joy. And His name is Jesus.
Also, Joye was featured this week in our church’s video story during service. Catch that incredible film piece here: https://youtu.be/rktwedOtVQQ?si=a5KA-Kehg-TcrYX_
