The Giants' continue to knock items off of their checklist, yet some items still remain as they head into Day 3 of the NFL Draft. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing because this year's class figured to have enough depth in their areas of concern - and that's how it's played out so far.
After three rounds, GM Joe Schoen has been able to meet value with need and he should be able to continue this process, beginning in the fourth round. You've got to figure the offense is going to get some more of the attention through the seventh and final round, although you can check young quarterback off the list after the arrival of first-round pick Jaxson Dart.
The Giants already did plenty to beef up their defense with the additions of dominant pass rusher Abdul Carter and active defensive tackle Darius Alexander.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino sorts through some of the possible targets as the Giants continue to build their roster.

The first part was easy -- take Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the NFL Draft. And that's exactly what New York Giants GM Joe Schoen did, before heading to the second part of his puzzle.
The free agent signings of veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston had allowed Schoen to feel much more comfortable about the upcoming season, but he still did not have a young franchise quarterback.
The Giants found their potential answer by trading up from the second round (34th overall) to Houston's spot at No. 25 and grabbed grab Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. It also cost the Giants a third-round pick this year (No. 99) and a 2026 third-round choice.
Schoen entered the draft with eight selections, including the third overall and five inside the first 105 picks (through Round 4). The general manger had told the media he saw edge rusher, defensive line, running back - and to a lesser degree - cornerback as the draft's deepest positions. So what comes next, now that he has five remaining picks?
Ric Serritella of All Access Football and the NFL Draft Bible joined host Paul Dottino on a special morning edition of the Big Blue Breakdown Live to address how the Giants handled the first round and how they may navigate the rest of the draft. Fans also participated via chat, audio or video call.

You have a few holes on the roster to fill, but you own the third pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. You'll likely be able to select a very strong prospect–maybe even an All-Pro caliber player.
Not so fast.
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has several scenarios to navigate, some of which are wholeheartedly based on what Tennessee and Cleveland do at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, before deciding which path to take.
Schoen has to answer some key internal questions. Does he take a young franchise quarterback high? Or should he grab a young project quarterback later?
Perhaps he could package some of his later picks and trade up into the bottom of the first round to get one? How early does he address the defensive line, considering the position is assumed to be very deep?
Is it critical for him to invest more heavily in the offensive line, which has gone through many years of rebuilding? Can he add depth at corner and running back?
If those questions aren't enough to give Schoen a headache, he's also trying to figure out how the first two selections will go. It's assumed the Titans will take quarterback Cam Ward, but might they be willing to take a generous offer to move out?
The Browns will likely take cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter or edge rusher Abdul Carter. If it's Hunter, the Giants must decide if Carter's foot issue knocks him down the board and then determine if it's worth entertaining trade offers for the pick.
Or maybe they just take the best player available at No. 3, regardless of position, which could mean defensive tackle Mason Graham.
These issues can become a deep pit of quicksand if you don't pull on the right rope, especially after the team is coming off a 3-14 season.
Former Giants linebacker and now radio analyst Jonathan Casillas and long-time distinguished NFL reporter Vic Carucci of SiriusXM NFL Radio discussed these challenges with Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino.

A Giant Issue: Win While You Build!
Coach Gene Clemons discusses the razor thin margins the Giants have found themselves on for almost a decade and how one season where they came up on the plus side of those one-score games was wasted because the team did not emphasize winning over building. He says that now is the time to win and build together, like the great teams do.

QB or not QB - that is the question.
That’s only the first part of a complicated puzzle facing New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen.
Schoen has the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and does not have a young franchise quarterback on his roster. Cam Ward (Miami) is the consensus top passer by far in what is a pedestrian quarterback class, and he's expected to be selected by the Tennessee Titans with the first overall pick.
The fun begins with the Cleveland Browns, who also don't have a young franchise quarterback in the fold and own the No. 2 pick. Most draft experts view Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) as the second-rated quarterback in the class and have pegged him to go anywhere from the Browns to the bottom third of the first round.
Once the Browns select, Schoen will be on the clock, and the game of guessing begins. He knows he has veterans Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito to get him through this season. But does he feel strongly enough about ANY of the remaining quarterbacks on the board to take one and if so, in what round?
After all, another set of successful collegiate signal callers put up some strong statistics, helped win a bunch of games, and could be considered diamonds in the rough.
There are various opinions about Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, Kyle McCord, Will Howard, and others.
Would Schoen shun the position early but later attempt to trade up with some of his draft capital to snag one of those "projects?" (Remember, the Giants have five choices in the first 105 picks.)
Or perhaps Schoen simply allows the draft to play out, takes the best player available at each of his eight draft positions, and decides to put off shopping for a quarterback until next year, when it's assumed there will be a higher level of passers to choose from.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino sifted through these issues with former NFL quarterback Matt Simms, an analyst for SiriusXM NFL Radio and coach at Simms Complete quarterback school; and reviewed Schoen's pre-draft media session before handling the fans' comments/questions.

No matter how hard they try to solve the puzzle, it never seems to get any easier for the New York Giants.
General manager Joe Schoen plugged his immediate need for a quarterback by signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, thereby opening up his options for the third pick of the upcoming NFL Draft, one in which there are two consensus blue-chippers - Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter.
It's widely assumed Tennessee will use the first overall pick on quarterback Cam Ward and there's a growing believe that Cleveland will take the versatile Hunter next.
So, the Giants simply have to take Carter, a dominant edge out of Penn State, right? Sure. But then there's the stress reaction that showed up during his physical at the Combine .... Hmmmm.
Carter reportedly received medical advice to avoid surgery at this time; but you couldn't blame any potential suitor for being concerned. After all, Carter was an explosive 6-3, 250-pound game-wrecker in college, and nobody - least of all his future NFL team - wants to see him sidelined with a foot injury.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino spoke with longtime Penn State radio play-by-play voice Steve Jones to sift through Carter's professional outlook before fielding comments/questions from the fans. The Jones interview is up first and takes almost 25 minutes.

He also talks about why Shedeur Sanders makes everyone want to be an expert. Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward might not be the highest-graded player in this year's NFL Draft. However, the thirst for desperate teams to find a franchise-changer at quarterback automatically boosts the position to the top of the ladder.
Ward displayed several attractive traits for the Miami Hurricanes, including a cannon for an arm, a flair for the big play, and the ability to throw on the move.
He threw for over 4,000 yards and led the nation with 39 touchdown passes last season following a two-year stint at Washington State (after transferring from Incarnate Word).
Since the NFL Combine, it's been evident that Ward created much separation between himself and Shedeur Sanders, who has been most often mentioned as the second-rated passer in what is considered a less-than-stellar quarterback class.
The Tennessee Titans own the top pick and list Will Levis as the top quarterback on their depth chart. In the unlikely event they allow Ward to fall, the Cleveland Browns have an unimpressive pairing in Deshaun Watson and Kenny Pickett. Then, the Giants recently signed Russell Wilson as their starter, but they don't have a quarterback for the future.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino discussed Ward's merits with Hurricanes radio post-game show host Alex Donno before taking comments and questions from the fans via chat, audio, and video calls.
