    🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃

Welcome to Nightmare on Film Street's limited podcast series Trick or Treat! This Halloween we're treating you with a spooktastic new collection of episodes where we let the spirits of Halloween take the wheel and choose the films for us 👻

Each week we're pulling movies at random from our spooky mystery cauldron (a McDonald's boo bucket) and we're either going to be given a Treat- that's a horror movie we really want to talk about- or a Trick- a horror movie that we’d hoped we'd never have to discuss in public…

This week, it's either a controversial threequel that fans either love or hate OR a buck-wild sequel that diehard fans are constantly telling the world to watch. Depending on what the spirits decide, we're about to be Tricked into watching Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992), starring that loveable porcupine from hell, Pinhead, or we'll be Treated with Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999) which we have been dying to watch after years of cool people telling us that it's awesome.

But which movie will it be?? Will the Halloween spirits throw us a bone and finally let us cross a fan-favorite off our watchlist...or will we be publically humiliated and forced to talk about a franchise that neither of us has any strong feelings about!??

Join ussss as we dive head-first into Halloween, cautiously dip our hands into the Cauldron of Chance, and ask "Trick or Treat?"

  • This week, we're diving into the quintessential spooky season franchise with either the film that started it all, John Carpenter's Halloween (1987), or the current final film, Halloween Ends (2022).

Will we be treated with one of the greatest slashers of all time or be stuck with a horny fanfic where Laurie and Michael -sorry- Allison and Corey, finally kiss?

It's late October and nothing says 1970s Halloween Horror like a babysitter getting lured out to a strange house so some lunatics can summon Lucifer himself! It's a lo-fi indie masterpiece and a slow-burn stunner with style, scares, and one hell of a soundtrack. Whether you worship the Devil, or you pray to the one true God (Pizza), The House of The Devil is just what the doctor of dark arts ordered. Join ussss....

  • Join ussss this week as we delve into one of the year's most discussed, dissected, and downright creepy horror movies! Kimmi & Jon are pulling out the pentagrams and turning our crosses upside down on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast as they break down all the brain-shattering revelations of Arkasha Stevenson's The First Omen (2024).

Expanding the foundation of a movie that haunted moviegoers in 1976, The First Omen peels back the layers of Richard Donner's The Omen to explore a sinister satanic cult embedded deep within the Roman Catholic Church. Striking a balance between franchise expectations and fresh nightmare imagery, The First Omen is a haunting story of religious horror and proof that prequels can be just as bone-chilling as their predecessors. Tune in as we explore the dark origins of evil, uncover shocking secrets, and get into the nitty gritty of how Kimmi closes her eyes during the scary scenes at the movie theatre! Join ussss.

  • This week on the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, Kimmi and Jon are taking a dip into the sun-soaked nightmare of Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool (2023). What starts as a luxurious vacation for James Foster (Alexander Skarsgård) quickly unravels into a dark, unsettling world where crime comes without the usual consequences—because if you can afford it, someone else will pay the price for you. Literally.

After a freak accident, James is introduced to a disturbing practice involving clones, where the wealthy can sidestep responsibility in truly horrifying ways. The deeper James goes, the more he’s drawn into a twisted world of excess, indulgence, and blood-soaked thrills that blur the line between punishment and pleasure (all shepherded by an unhinged Mia Goth).

Is Infinity Pool a sharp critique of the privilege money brings, or just an invitation to lose yourself in Cronenbergian chaos? Tune in as Kimmi and Jon explore the dark corners of this surreal horror and figure out whether James can survive his ultimate getaway, and his own lust for debauchery. Go on, don't be a sucky baby. • This week, it's either a Kill Em All style, one-night-in-hell survival story set on Halloween OR a family-friendly fave that pits a loveable idiot against an army of troll monsters, ALSO set on Halloween. It's an All Hallows Eve coin toss this time around and if the spirits are cruel, we'll be Tricked into watching Rob Zombie's 31 (2016), featuring an all-timer performance from Richard Brake as Doomhead (amid 100 other baffling decisions that make no sense), or we'll be Treated with Ernest Scared Stupid (1991) which also features an A+ supporting role from the legendary Eartha Kitt and, surprise-surprise, is a movie we LOVE and can't wait to gush over.

But which movie will it be?? Will the Halloween spirits finally throw us a bone and give us a genuine Treat...or will we be forced to talk about a grimy, grubby Rob Zombie movie with a serial killer dressed as Hitler that is about as disappointing as everyone always says it is?!??

Join ussss as we dive head-first into Halloween, cautiously dip our hands into the Cauldron of Chance, and ask "Trick or Treat?"

  • This week on the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, Kimmi and Jon are packing their bags and heading to Haiti for a look at Wes Craven's The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), a wild tale of voodoo, zombies, and seriously dope nightmare sequences. In this underseen gem, anthropologist Dennis Alan (Bill Pullman) just wanted to research a mysterious zombie drug, but instead, he found himself in a whole mess of cursed cocktails and coffin trauma. And also ...scrote horror....?

Part one of our "Evil Abroad" double feature, The Serpent and the Rainbow taps into the haunting folklore of voodoo and the blurred line between science and superstition. We’re diving into the surreal, ssserpent-filled magic that made this one of Wes Craven’s weirdest, most unique films. But is it a misunderstood classic, or just a bizarre nightmare that’s too wild to forget?

Grab your passport and join Kimmi and Jon for an unsettling adventure into the unknown, filled with curses, coffins, and Craven chaos. Join ussss…

  • Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they close out their No Dead Doggos double-feature with Dan Trachtenberg's Prey (2022). Yeah, the Predator is cool and all, and Naru (Amber Midthunder) is one of the best action heroes of the last decade, but the real star of the show is an adorably ferocious little dog named Sarii (played by Coco).

Dogs are often the first victims of horror movies, and if you have a hard time watching pups get hurt on screen, never fear! The Nightmare on Film Street podcast is here to help make you a couple of badass recommendations with exactly zero dead dogs. Oh, and somewhere in there we also talk about all the rad set pieces in this epic masterpiece of Action/Sci-Fi/Horror...and how it's still a crime that this movie went straight to streaming. • On this week’s episode of the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, your hosts Kimmi and Jon dive headfirst into the alligator-infested (residential) waters of Alexandre Aja's Crawl (2019). This creature feature is a perfect blend of teeth-gnashing terror and extreme Floridian weather—and we’re here to chomp down on all of it.

And guess what—no doggos die in this one! Seriously, the family dog lives, which is practically unheard of in horror. But how does Crawl manage to keep you on the edge of your seat (and out of the rising water) without following the usual body count rules? Is this film a masterclass in tension, or just another disposable disaster flick?

Sink your teeth into this wild ride as Kimmi and Jon break down everything from basement flood logistics to gator squatting policies and procedures. Join ussss…

This week, it's either a brand-new American remake of a NSFL Danish shocker from only just a few years ago OR a bizarro so-bad-it's-good nightmare comedy that Kimmi has been trying to get on the podcast for years. Depending on what the spirits decide, we're about to be Tricked into watching Speak No Evil (2024) starring James McAvoy as a charming maybe-but-maybe-not serial killer or treated with Nothing But Trouble (1991) from the deranged mind of Dan Akroyd, featuring appearances from John Candy, Demi Moore, Chevy Chase and 2Pac!

But which movie will it be?? Will the Halloween spirits look kindly upon us and allow us to talk about the most insane road trip movie you'll ever experience, or punish us with a remake that we've seen the trailer for 100,000 times now??!?

  • join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they close out their look back at the movies that defined The Summer of 2016. It was the year Beyonce released Lemonade, it was also the year that Nightmare on Film Street published its first episode, but more importantly, it was the year that David F. Sandberg raked in $148 Million at the box office with his super spooky, semi-forgotten debut feature Lights Out.

Lights Out was so dang scary and so effective that it pretty much set the template for every popular horror movie that come after it. And for good reason. It's still scary today! Heck, even NOFS Podcast's own Kimmi can't watch big chunks of this movie without covering her eyes. And somehow, Light Out isn't a movie that you hear horror fans talking about much at all these days. Why is that? How does a movie with an ultra-spooky villain, that scares the pants off of everyone that sees it, fall by the wayside after only a few short years? If you've been asking yourself the same question, Join usssss....

  • 2016 wasn't all political elections, celebrity deaths, and Pokemon Go fever. There was a lot going on that year but for one summer the entire world was ROCKED by......a turkey baster 😳

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon on this week's episode of the Nightmare on Film Street podcast as they look back at a simpler time. A time when you never sanitized your hands, and breaking into old people's homes to steal a bit of cash was a piece of cake. We're talking about Fede Alvarez's Don't Breathe (2016) this week in our celebration of the Horror Movies of 2016- A movie that showed the world he was more than just an Evil Dead remake.

Alvarez has become a household name for horror names but years before he took us into outer space for a fistfight with a xenomorph, he gave us one of the most suspenseful, anxiety-inducing, jaw-dropping thrill rides of our lives! Don't Breathe is a gritty, self-defense story wrapped in survival horror, with a midnight madness cherry on top with a gnarly you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it moment of pure insanity that makes us squirm to this day.

    **Originally broadcast August 24, 2023**

Ahoy, summer sirens and disco demons! This week, your Nightmare on Film Street horror hosts Kim & Jon are cranking up the heat with a sizzlin' dive into the Summer of Fear (1978). Forget about pool parties and BBQs; this summer is all about witchy vibes and stolen boyfriends!

In Summer of Fear (1978) (or Stranger in Our House depending on who you ask) Linda Blair stars as the all-American girl whose life gets flipped faster than a burger on a grill when her mysterious 'cousin' rolls into town. Is she a witch? A femme fatale? A sneaky succubi? She's snatching boyfriends, party dresses, and even galloping away with Linda's beloved horse! So, put on your best 70's party attire (or just steal someone else's), and join us for a summer tale that's more spellbinding than a disco ball on a hot summer night. Join usss...

Do you wanna party?? Cause it's party time! Join your horror hosts Kim & Jon as they turn back the dial to the summer that changed zombies forever...and just in time for the 4th of July, too. Dan O'Bannon's Return of The Living Dead (1985) gave the world the first unkillable zombie, Linnea Quigley dancing naked in a graveyard, an authentic punk sensibility, and (best of all) a skeleton with eyeballs rising up out of the ground to eat brains! • We're taking a couple weeks off to recoup from some medical junk so we're rebroadcasting a couple Faves From The Grave! This week's we're revisiting the Tooth Fairy of Terror in Darkness Falls James Wan's criminally underrated Dead Silence. Join usssss...

    **Originally published April 10, 2019**

Home is where the horror is on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street. Not only in Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer's PET SEMATARY, but in two unspoken gems from the early 2000's. Join Kim & Jon for a quick Spoiler-Free review of the new Stephen King adaptation, and make yourselves at home while we grin and grimace through DARKNESS FALLS (2003) and DEAD SILENCE (2007).

It's a head-to-head against a ruthless (and surprisingly agile) tooth fairy, and the only ventriloquist successful proven of dabbling in the dark arts...which of course, they surely all are.
