Beth Kane and her Buddy Ryan are hanging out at a record store when an alien signal interrupts daily life. Earth’s pop radio is terrible, and the aliens demand the Earthlings shut it down, or the blue planet will be blown to smithereens. The government decides the alien signal might be a hoax and taking any action would be too risky for the economy. Kane steals a spaceship named Epimetheus staffed by a juvenile AI named Bobby and together they escape in the nick of time.

Running low on oxygen, and desperate for something to listen to, Kane risks her life in an attempt to retrieve the Golden Record of Earth Sounds blasted into space by NASA in the 1970s.
