Producer Leith was in Norseman in remote Western Australia recently and met Kate. Kate is a nurse and moonlights as the local school chaplain. This is Kate's story.
About Norseman: a small town in the Goldfields region of WA. Situated 800km east of Perth, it is home to dry salt lakes, red dirt, native fauna and a very hot climate. It's the last town before the SA border.

Alex caught up for coffee with lifelong friend and our producer, Leith. She’s generously shared with us her journey so far and valuable lessons and values she’s learnt along the way. The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network (AusCAPPs) is an online community of practice interested in increasing women's access to long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) and medical abortion. GPs, practice nurses and pharmacists are invited to join. There is no cost to do so.

Female genital mutilation or cutting (FGM/C) is the deliberate cutting or altering of the female genitals without medical indication. These practices are alive and well in Australia and across the developed work, despite illegality.
Dr Olayide Ogunsiji has lead several research projects including caring for women living with female genital mutilation, and is the founder of the African Women's Health & Support Organisation.
