Cal & Fanch talk to Cairn TTRPG creator, Yochai Gal. Cairn holds the distinction of being the first TTRPG to be translated into gaelic by none other than today's co-host, OH!CON veteran volunteer Fanch Gallig. From the website Cairn is described as
"Cairn is an adventure game about exploring a dark and mysterious Wood filled with strange folk, hidden treasure, and unspeakable monstrosities. Character generation is quick and random, adventures are tense and reward careful exploration, and combat is frantic and deadly."

Hereward chats with RP Davis of Kabouter games, who produce TTRPG support material
Kabouter Games creates adventures, GM support materials, stuff for players, and more! Weâre just getting started, but thereâll be lots before you know it.
If you have something specific youâd like to see, drop us a line through our Contact page!
You can also check out our D&D 5th Edition content on DMs Guild.
Why âKabouterâ? Because we live and work in Noord Brabant, Netherlands, where kabouters roam free. In the folklore of the Low Countries, kabouters (the âouâ is pronounced âow,â like someone just kicked you in the knee) are tiny people who live in red-capped mushrooms.* They teach useful skills and help in the home. For example, a kabouter taught people how to make wooden shoes.
Our RPG products are specifically designed to help new players embrace the game and experienced players have new experiences. And we like mushrooms, but to eat, not to live in.
* Humza Kazmi told us on Twitter that if you pronounce it âka-BOO-terâ it means âpigeonâ in Urdu. Thereâs something in there about ka-BOW-ters riding ka-BOO-ters. Give us some time. Weâre a fantasy company. Weâll come up with something.

Cal and Hereward celebrate 40 years of the revolutionary 8 Bit mirco-computer space trader Sim "Elite" with it's co-creator, Ian Bell.
"Ian Colin Graham Bell (born 31 October 1962 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire) programmed, designed and developed the computer game Elite (1984) with David Braben, which met with much acclaim."
"Bell attended the independent St Albans School. He studied at Jesus College, Cambridge, graduating with a degree (1st) in Mathematics in 1985, and a Cambridge Diploma in Computer Science in 1986."
"Elite is a space trading video game. It was written and developed by David Braben and Ian Bell and was originally published by Acornsoft for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron computers in September 1984. Elite's open-ended game model, and revolutionary 3D graphics led to it being ported to virtually every contemporary home computer system and earned it a place as a classic and a genre maker in gaming history. The game's title derives from one of the player's goals of raising their combat rating to the exalted heights of "Elite".

In this, the very first ever OH!CAST recorded Hereward Proops talks to Chris Gonnerman, the creator of the open-source TTRPG "Basic Fantasy"
From the website:
"The Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game is a rules-light game system modeled on the classic RPG rules of the early 1980's. Basic Fantasy RPG has been written largely from scratch to replicate the look, feel, and mechanics of the early RPG game systems. It is suitable for those who are fans of "old-school" game mechanics. Basic Fantasy RPG is simple enough for children in perhaps second or third grade to play, yet still has enough depth for adults as well."
About Chris Gonnerman
"Chris Gonnerman was born in rural northeast Missouri in 1965, and has spent most of his life there. While his work is in various computer-related fields, his passion for games and for writing led to the creation of the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game rules in 2006. He has always written science fiction and fantasy, but only recently did he decide to publish his work."
Hereward Proops as well as co-host of OH!CAST is a director of OH!CON the Outer Hebrides comic convention. Scotland's most Northerly convention is held every October in Stornoway, Outer Hebrides. Find out more here
