  • Pablo Picasso said, “We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realise truth at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies.” There is some connection between art, creativity, the subconscious mind and the space in which young children hold themselves. The point being, in art, things are not what they seem. There are symbols that lead us to a deeper truth. This is the case with Fairy Tales. We read through Lying, Truthtelling and Storytelling in Children's and Young Adult Literature, by Anita Tarr. We are trying to highlight the importance of "Fairy Tales as nutrition for the soul". Extreme poverty, for example, found in Mother Goose Stories does not promote depression, futility and a future of poverty. It will add to the world-view of the child, organise the experience, grow cognition and the ability to recognise and overcome problems. Poverty in Fairy Tales is often a starting point on a journey of growth and overcoming the odds. As ever, taking away themes of hardship and violence in children's stories doesn't affirm our role as guardian, nor does it protect children from these realities they may face in life. In fact it reduces the likelihood of facing these life-challenges in a positive way.

  • Exploring the patterns in "The Blade of Straw, The Coal and The Bean", thanks to Marie-Louise von Franz, shows us the duality and closeness of things that might seem opposing or separate. Funerals become wonderful celebrations. Joyous parties become angry brawls. The episode aims to lead you to the concept that attempting to eliminate "violence", from children's books and real-life, is also an (unconscious) attempt to eliminate joy, humour and laughter from children when they are older. Domineering, negatively-reinforcing and "preventative" parents (who also misunderstand violence) usually aren't much fun to be around and lack a sense of humour!

  • In this episode of Otherworld Connections, we begin an exploration of the culture around fairy tales. We start off with one of the five main reasons why fairy tales are being banned, edited or censored. The first and foremost reason is regarding violence. We unpack how the term "violence" is misunderstood and by editing fairy tales actually increases the violent content in fairy tales!

  • Try a listening meditation on the sound of a swarm of bees. What do you hear? What else do you hear? What is your "inner voice" telling you? The ancient Egyptians likened the sound of bees to the voice of souls crying out. Is this literally true? I believe there is truth to this concept. The only way to discover the truth about our existence, and to understand the laws of nature, is by discovery. So this buzzing meditation is a way to discover our abilities to make otherworld connections and find our way.

  • In this episode we finish the list of "50 Ways to Help Save The Bees" from the book of said name by Sally Coulthard. Some of the solutions highlight the narcissist/echoist dichotomy that we live through. The bees certainly would disagree with blaming you for the dire bee situation of the bees. By "you", I mean you who would read the book or listen to this podcast and try to implement ways to save the bees and help them to thrive. These contemporary solution books frame you as the victim and the one to blame. If not you, then who else? This is a satanic tenet where the responsibility goes to the responsible. We must ignore this directive be taking responsibility and being resilient to the blame-game.

  • Rudolf Steiner's lectures are inspiring and mind-expanding, if nothing else. Putting the science in "Spiritual Science", Steiner explains to us how oxalic acid is worked into formic acid inside the body. Life-essential formic acid is found in humans, ants, wasps and bees and it is absorbed into and emitted from soil. It is in the air as well. When I read these transcriptions of Steiner's speeches, I find myself feeling more connected with nature, and more aware of our spiritual connection with nature and others. Steiner outlines a correspondence between the journey of the human soul and the journey of a swarm of bees. Bees seem to have more analogues with humans than one could ordinarily imagine.

  • Steiner says life involves work, not substance. And in this episode, Steiner explains how ant-acid aka formic acid does not provide a direct increase in formic acid, inside the body, to cure illnesses. Steiner explains how the functions of the body require things that promote work and effort. He makes a fine case for oxalic acid (found in leafy wild greens) as the medicine required to increase the life-giving and All-connecting formic acid inside the body. The body wants to work and transform form the foods we give it, it does not want like-for-like or substance-for-substance. The work of bees, ants and wasps comes from wisdom and is life-giving, rather than a perceived thieving from plants and nature. I believe this deep knowing and connectedness that Steiner had, qualified him to make predictions about the future that became true. His premonitions on AI make sense by listening or reading these lectures on bees. AI brings us away from work and wisdom and into a mindset of substance and materialism, where AI provides the answers and we don't need to work for them but just take the information we need.

  • The recent extreme loss of bee colonies in the USA has sparked inquiry into the effect of EMF and pesticides on bees. Bees symbolise success in achieving goals for the greater good. They symbolise communities operating in harmony for the greater good. There has been a recent explosion of the "Bro-trepreneur", the popularisation of "Anarcho-Capitalism", and the growing dependence on AI. We are now living in a culture that accepts AI as a substitute for creating and working hard on our goals. The idea of freedom without rulers has changed. It has become subjective. the winning freedom culture-du-jour is a sales and marketing culture. Financial success means "freedom for all", thanks to the "creator economy". The concept of freedom is changing. We have accepted the technocracy as a part of life and something we should exploit. We have started to sell out on our values simply because money is more important. Our values have become an accessory, a branded cog in the AI machine. Interacting with others is more about sales negotiations, than community and serving others for the greater good….. are the bees telling us, through die-off, that we are destroying ourselves? This series on bees unpacks this correspondence and looks at solutions.

  • One review of Bernard Roger's The Initiatory Path in Fairy Tales: The Alchemical Secrets of Mother Goose states, "How can a writer transform such an exciting subject into something so boring? It is a mystery in itself. The book deals with something that could have been very interesting. But is written in a way that makes it a pain to read." While I found it a pain myself, it has deepened my reverence for Fairy Tales. Roger's book demanded an understanding of the stages Freemasonry and Alchemy. I felt like there was a pretentiousness through the book and a bit of insider baseball going on as well. Otherworld Connections wants to bring these concepts, found in fairy tales, back to basics and to speak common sense. So, overall this book was a worthwhile read and it broke down common plot devices into sections. We learn that there might be an intuitive aspect to the creation of these "old wives tales". We learn that there certainly is a connection between fairy tales and the ancient mystery school traditions. These secret societies have pull because of hidden secrets of Natural Law, the operating conditions of life. Knowing these secrets empowers us to be successful in life. So what this means is that fairy tales have the secrets too, and they are still around for all of us to bring into our lives and learn about occult knowledge and de-occult it to make it just knowledge that is free for all. Fairy Tales are a tool to level the playing field and take our power back.

  • According to author Bernard Roger, V.I.T.R.I.O.L. (the Door of The Temple) is encoded in fairy tales. It is the underground world found deep in forests, the forest's edge, castles, at the bottom of wells and at the location of a transgression made on one of the characters. The "interior of the earth" is more often visited by girl characters. V.I.T.R.I.O.L. means something like, "go within yourself to find the truth". It's about reflection and being aware of your own mortality. It's about finding what is important in life and what you should do with your own life. It's about trying and it's about being honest. This is why fairy tales, in all their violent and transgressional glory, should be kept alive and read to children.

  • We continue reading Bernard Roger's The Initiatory Path in Fairy Tales: The Alchemical Secrets of Mother Goose. He continues his de-coding of Fairy Takes through the lens of Freemasonry and Alchemy. More often than not, the protagonist sets out on a quest. Roger breaks down the common themes, or plot devices, and connects the symbolism around fairy tale quests. There are universal themes in quest scenes that correspond to The Great Work and the Sacred Masculine. The quests, found in fairy tales, symbolise taking right action in the world and overcoming adversity in the name of good.

  • In Bernard Roger's The Initiatory Path in Fairy Tales: The Alchemical Secrets of Mother Goose, he highlights parallels and pluralities to Freemasonry and alchemy. So we begin to see that the connections are there. The symbols are valid. So what of them and what is the point. We hope to find out toward the end of the book. In this instalment of Otherworld Connections, Bernard Roger points out something important about the symbolism in fairy tales: a vulgar association between a woman and a pile of manure really goes much deeper into associations between femininity, mother earth and the sacred feminine. Moving forward we look to finding out about what to do with all of these observations!

Looking at the origins, of the names of tales, reveals that the old tales have more to them than just fantasy and entertainment. This episode reads through the origins of the terms: "Blue Stories"; "Mother Goose Stories"; "Old Wive's Tales"; "Cock and Bull Stories" and "Airy Tales". Looking at the origins of words helps to gain an understanding of what is true, and what is not. The origins of the aforementioned terms helps to shed light on which fairy-tale-origin-theories might be true or not.
