Christmas time is here, and you know that means...VAMPIRES! The one and only Willem Dafoe joined us to talk about his role in Robert Eggers adaptation of Nosferatu. This also seemed like the perfect opportunity to discuss one hell of an Overdue Rental with Willem; Shadow of the Vampire. Before Eggers was even out of high school, Dafoe stepped into the shoes of Count Orlock in a film that images is Nosferatu director F.W. Murnau hired an actual vampire to star in his 1922 Dracula ripoff.

Welcome to episode 1 of or 3 episode special on the new film Nickel Boys. RaMell Ross hits the scene with his first full length feature (non-documentary) with the adaptation of the award winning book of the same name. The film is already getting best picture nods before its official release, including the recent nomination for best drama for the Golden Globes, whilst RaMell was fresh off being award best director by The Gothams and the New York Film Critic's Circle just days before speaking with us. While David Gordon Green has helmed some big studio pictures and popular TV Shows, he has never turned away from his true indie roots. His new film, Nutcrackers, is a testament to heart and soul film making that jump started his career with George Washington. While we had David with us, we also had to talk to him about his bigger budget fantasy epic, Your Highness, which never struck a chord with a lot of audiences and we are here to change people's minds.

You may not see George Huang's name officially credited for as many projects he has his hands in. And while his new film, Weekend in Taipei is a slice of East Asian action pleasure, George's first film was a slice of life about the trials and tribulations of working in Hollywood. Swimming With Sharks is a sharp witted, comically dark tale from the early 90s that spoke volumes about the industry then, but probably echoes heavier today. It was a pleasure talking to George about these two films as well as all the little extra morsels he sent our way.

There has been a lot of movement in recent years with younger generations getting into classic spoof films. The Zucker, Abrams, Zucker and family classics from Airplane, to The Naked Gun, to Hot Shots! are making waves with new audiences. But one great spoof that was pretty much lambasted by critics on its release still remains under the radar for older and newer spoof fans. The Carl Reiner directed Fatal Instinct starred the one and only Armand Assante, who wasn't really know for comedy at the time. Armand joined us to talk about his new film, Don Q, as well as this forgotten masterpiece of comedy cinema.

It was a sheer pleasure to speak with the man behind today's most effective and honest films of modern times, the stop motion expert, Adam Elliot. Adam's new film, Memoir of a Snail is in theater now, and much like his other full length feature, Mary and Max, it should not be missed.

We implore everyone to go see Rumours this weekend as it releases on Oct. 11th. It is Matthew's top film of the year at the moment. We were more than lucky to have the writing and directing team of Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson join us to talk about this brilliant satirical satire as well as their 2017 experimental venture into loosely recreating Hitchcock's Vertigo with, The Green Fog.

This week we have New York Times best selling author Daniel Kraus with us to talk about his new book, Pay the Piper. This is Daniel's second co-authored project with the one and only George Romero as Daniel has finished two manuscripts George started before his passing. Along with some talk about Pay the Piper and finishing the works of a legend like Romero, we are also talking about the 2020 Adam Egypt Mortimer film, Archenemy.

The name Willie Pep might not spark a memory for many of you, but if you are a boxing fan and you don't know Willie, the you need to check out The Featherweight. The new film starring James Madio as Pep is starting its run in cinemas and you shouldn't miss it. While we had Madio with us to talk about the film, we also had to talk about his role in 1992's Hero. And of course, we had to see if that story about Dustin Hoffman plucking him from the set of Hook to play his son in Hero is true.

It Ends With Us is taking the box office by storm. We were lucky enough to have the film's producer, Alex Saks join us to talk about the process of getting such a film off the ground. We also took time to talk about one of her first gigs as a producer on the criminally underseen, Thoroughbreds.

It's once again an tremendous honor to be joined by someone as special as the one and only, Jean Reno. Jean's new film, My Penguin Friend, is out this Friday, August 9th. While it was a pleasure to discuss this adaptation of the hit true story that took social media by storm, this also gave us the chance to talk to Jean about a classic Overdue Rental; 1998's, Ronin.

Legendary film maker Lee Tamahori's new film The Convert is already out and in theaters and OnDemand for all to enjoy. We couldn't pass up the chance to talk to Lee about the film and his groundbreaking feature, Once Were Warriors. This might be a more overall serious episode of Overdue Rentals, but it is a highly important and thoughtful one.

I'm still amazed that we have come to the point that maybe one of the greatest films of all time, is an Overdue Rental. This Friday, July 12th sees the release of Guy Pearce's new film, The Convert in theaters and On Demand. And while Guy was with us to talk about his new film with famed director Lee Tamahori, we had the opportunity to discuss both the legend that is L.A. Confidential, and the missing sequel we almost got.

You all better have your viewing schedule packed to the brim this week as there are two films you have to make sure you see. The highly anticipated Longlegs is hitting theaters on July 12th. In the first of three interviews we have coming for you from the film, we have the one and only Blair Underwood joining us. Blair talks to us all about joining such a one of a kind film and his role in the 1995 thriller, Just Cause, which stars Blair along side Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne, Ed Harris, and a 10 year old Scarlett Johansson.
