  • Welcome to a special episode 106 discussing the 2024 edition of SMC.

The 106th edition of the Triple P features more great conversations about scale modeling. This conversation is centered around a large and diverse group who attended SMC 2024.

The conversation is long, and lot's of fun. The group, which consists of TJ Haller, John Bonanni, Jensen Taylor, Jeff Feller, and Jackson Stanton. Scott Gentry moderates and asks questions as he plans on attending SMC in 2025.

Enjoy a long, fun conversation about this world class event.

Profanity Warning - there is a little bit of adult language in this episode, we left it in as we wanted the context of the show.

  • The 105th installment of the Triple P features more great conversations about scale modeling. All 6 of us are back together after multiple model shows at home and abroad, as well as some vacations. We recap the Rock Con / Sprue Doo show JB attended, as well as the 49th annual MMSI show in Chicago which Scott and Grant attended. We originally intended to recap the recent SMC show as well, but that recap will actually be featured in upcoming Episode 106.

TJ leads us in an interesting discussion point around whether or not this hobby is "just" a hobby, or more. We each have some interesting takes on this. We catch up on what he have purchased recently and what we are respectively working on, and we even give you some bonus audio at the end of the episode.

The Posse100GB has temporarily been derailed by model shows - but stay tuned! We hope to have our wrap up show soon - Remember we have an upcoming episode where lots of special guests will stop by to pick their own personal favorites from the Group Build - details in this podcast!

  • Episode 102 features a great conversation with Modeler and Creator Jake McKee, where we touch on soooo many different ideas related to creating and modeling. From influences to thinking outside the box, and even, yes, you guessed it, scope creep! Jake is a super interesting guy and you won't want to miss this!

We discuss that "tipping point" where a project goes from "I'm not sure if this is going to work," to, "This is definitely going to work." And then conversely we also discuss what happens when a project doesn't live up to our expectations and we need to "get back in the saddle."

We also continue to make some audio changes to the podcast to hopefully make it more enjoyable to listen to, this time out our theme music gets some enhancements.

  • Episode 101 sees all of us together again for a short but fun podcast. No interviews or guests this time - but we have some great topics for you to listen to. We discuss managing modeling stress and anxiety, and of course we go over the incredible response to our Posse 100 Group Build. We also discuss a recent visit that Scott and JB made to Panzer Fabrik in Delta, Colorado, just south of Grand Junction.

We also make some audio changes to the podcast to hopefully make it more enjoyable to listen to. Scott has removed some of the processing and produced what is hopefully a more natural sounding podcast for all of you!

  • Welcome to a Special Episode of the Plastic Posse Podcast. There is a new International Modeling Organization that has launched called Modellers Without Borders. Many people have been asking questions about this new Organization and we host three good friends who are also key members of MWB in a Q and A session to get you some of those answers, specifically:

Tim Holland, AKA "El Presidente" from the ModelGeeks Podcast, and part of the Southern Maryland Scale Modelers club that hosts the Paxcon Model Show every other year. Tim is the President of Modellers Without Borders.

Rob Booth is a former IPMS USA Member of the Year (2018), a member of the 2023 IPMS NATS San Marcos team, and also a former member of the IPMS USA E-board (Secretary). Rob is also a longstanding member of the San Antonio Alamo Squadron and also a founding member of the Texas Hill Country Scale Modelers. Rob is the Executive Secretary of Modellers Without Borders.

Stan Spooner is an award winning modeler with scores of Publishing credits for his work. He is currently based in Texas, where Stan was a member of the 2023 IPMS NATS San Marcos team. Stan also owns and operates "The Model Box," a hobby based business and social media outlet for his work and the work of others. Stan is the VP for Industry Liaison for Modellers Without Borders.

Before you listen - a proviso - there will be distinctions drawn between MWB and IPMS USA, (as well as other organizations). Values, perceived challenges, and approaches to the hobby will be openly discussed, so be aware of this.

If you are curious about or interested in this ORG, you will enjoy this interview. If you aren't interested in a different approach than the traditional IPMS USA one, you may want to give this one a pass. You have been cautioned!

TJ and Jensen also spur an impromptu good natured tongue in cheek discussion on whether aircraft or armor modeling is "harder."

We also have some great listener feedback, talk about recent models that stand out on our Posse group on Facebook, and of course upcoming shows and events!

  • The Posse is (almost) all here! We missed Jensen (Happy Birthday) but have one of our best collective episodes in a while with great discussions.

We recap the recent AMPS Nationals, with a segment featuring JB, Scott, Ian Bonner, and Jonathan (ModelDoc) Anderson. We also feature a segment outlining the team behind the forthcoming Inaugural Rocky Mountain Expo in SLC on June 22. JB interviews Scott, Barry Beideger from Small Subjects, and Shawn Earl on this new Model Show.

We also have some great listener feedback, discuss whether we have work that has possibly been a little underappreciated, and whether or not we as modelers underappreciate our own work. Another interesting discussion revolves around JB talking about times where he just needs to shut the social aspect of modeling down for a while and get some work done at the bench solo. This also leads to some introspective discussions of benchtime - music, podcasting, zoom calls, and even modeling together in local clubs!

  • Welcome back to (almost) everyone! Doug was unfortunately Ill, but the rest of the gang is back and we talk about Model Kit Expectations - do we as consumers have a responsibility to research kits BEFORE we buy, and also Post Shading - Like it, Love it, or Leave it?

We also have a visit with Rick Lawler, Grant, Scott, and JB as we recap Adepticon and Commiesfest, as well as our usual rundown of models we like on the Posse FB group, feedback, and updates on the Scale Prospector and the 48 in 48 auction deliveries!
