Anthony Perl tackles the single biggest objection he hears from business owners: "Should I really be podcasting?" His answer is unequivocal — yes, and here's why.
With 1.5 billion monthly podcast listeners and only 225,000 active business podcasts globally, the playing field is remarkably uncrowded. Anthony breaks down the real numbers, debunks the "too many podcasts" myth, and explains why your website — no matter how polished — can never do what a podcast does: put the real, unedited you in front of your audience.
You'll hear why podcasting is the only marketing tool that feeds every other platform, why referrals are far less controllable than you think, and why there is no "next thing" around the corner that will replace the power of your authentic voice.
If you're a business owner, a consultant, an author, or anyone with expertise to share, this episode is your wake-up call. Podcasting is not optional. It's compulsory.
Key takeaways:

You are already an expert in something — you just have not packaged it yet. Patrick Engasser, bestselling author of "If I Can Do It, You Can Do It," spent 15 years in Fortune 500 insurance sales — the last 10 as a district manager — before launching his own coaching and speaking business.
In this episode of Podcasts Done For You Show, Patrick reveals why writing a book packages your authority in a way nothing else can, how to identify the 10-20% of your business that actually powers the engine (and delegate the rest), and why the biggest thing holding you back is not a lack of knowledge but a lack of action.
He explains why communication is the most important skill in business, how mentorship is the closest thing to a shortcut, and why mindset must come before strategy.
As his coach James Malinchak says, "My ugly book is better than the one you don't have." Download the free workbook from the show notes to identify your core genius and launch your authority platform.

AI podcast generation is trending, but should your business go down that path? In this episode, I unpack why AI-generated podcasts lack authenticity, why the "better version of yourself" idea doesn't work, and where AI genuinely helps versus where it harms. Your authentic voice is your most powerful business asset — don't hand it over to a machine. I share the one type of AI use I happily endorse, and why your conversations are what build real authority and trust. Download the free workbook from the show notes to ask yourself the hard questions about AI in your content strategy.

In this episode of Podcasts Done For You Show, I tackle the question I get asked more than any other: how do you solve the problem of creating consistent, sustainable, authentic content for your business? I unpack why outsourcing your content creation to agencies or overseas writers is a mistake - because they're not you, they don't know your stories, and the content ends up manufactured rather than authentic. I also explain why relying on AI to produce all your content is equally flawed, as audiences are increasingly seeing through AI-generated material and moving away from it.
The real solution? Podcasting. I explain how a single recorded conversation creates a cascading effect of content - from short video reels and audio clips to social media posts, blog articles, website content, newsletters, direct messaging prompts, and even workbooks. All of it comes from what you actually said, not something made up or remanufactured. With just four two-hour recording sessions per year, you can produce enough content to be everywhere your audience needs you to be. I share why a co-host is essential for positioning you as the expert, and why the numbers - 1.5 billion monthly podcast listeners versus only 225,000 active business podcasts - make this the most underserved content opportunity available.

How to Show Up on Camera So People Actually Want to Listen to You
Did you know that 55% of all communication is non-verbal? That means your body language, your eye contact, your background, and your lighting are doing the heavy lifting long before you even open your mouth.
In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Christiaan (Chris) Willems - a specialist communication consultant and coach at ArtsMedia Consultants, with more than 40 years in the performing arts and television, including 25 years as a professional mime artist. Dr. Chris now helps business owners and professionals get comfortable, confident, and credible on camera - and the insights he shares in this conversation are genuinely game-changing.
We cover the Albert Mehrabian research that shows 7% of communication is in the actual words, 38% is how you sound, and 55% is non-verbal. We talk about why video is no longer optional for business professionals, what it means to be a "stylised version of yourself" on camera, and why things like lighting and background are not just technical concerns - they are brand concerns.
Dr. Chris also shares his concept of "active awareness" - knowing how you come across on camera, and doing something about it. He talks through lighting basics (including the classic three-point setup), the importance of background design, and how to think about aesthetics even when your topic is accountancy, engineering, or law.
We also discuss teleprompters, rehearsed spontaneity, the glasses and makeup debate, and what it really means to be authentic versus performing on camera.

You have been thinking about it long enough. Here is the complete map to launching your podcast.**
Most business owners who want a podcast never start one. Not because the idea is not right for their business — it almost always is. They stall because the process looks overwhelming: the equipment, the software, the platforms, the planning, the promotion. It feels like a project with no clear starting line.
This episode is the starting line.
Anthony Perl — with 35 years of marketing experience and a client roster of business owners who are now running successful podcasts — covers everything you need to know to go from "I have been thinking about this" to a podcast that is planned, launched, and on its way to the top 1% of business shows.
---
### In This Episode You Will Discover:
- **Why "why" is the most important question you will answer** — and why the wrong answer leads to a podcast that dies at Episode 6
- **How to define your audience** before you record a single word — and why getting this wrong makes every other decision harder
- **The essential equipment list** — the microphone Anthony recommends, the lighting setup that makes the biggest difference for the least money, and the camera question settled once and for all
- **Which recording software to use** — and why Zoom is never the answer
- **The editing options** from beginner-friendly free tools through to AI-assisted platforms that speed everything up
- **Where to host and publish** — why Captivate.fm is the recommended platform, and how to get your podcast onto Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube
- **The 20-episode rule** — why this is the milestone that separates the top 1% from the 99% that do not make it, and how to plan for it before you begin
- **The eight-hours-a-year model** — four two-hour recording sessions, six episodes each, a full content workbook from every session, and a full year of multi-channel content
- **The promotion strategy** that gets your podcast found — including how to build audience momentum before you even launch
- **Why a production partner is the single biggest determinant of whether your podcast succeeds** — and what that partnership actually looks like in practice

There is no magic bullet in marketing - and every business owner who has gone looking for one already knows it.
Most business owners have tried everything. Networking. LinkedIn. SEO. Advertising. Letterbox drops. Conference sponsorships. Anthony Perl has 35 years of marketing experience, and his answer is direct: the magic bullet does not exist. But there is a legend - and it is closer than most people think.
This episode unpacks why going all-in on a single channel makes results worse, not better - and reveals the one tool that does something no other marketing approach can.
The numbers Anthony shares will change how you do the maths on your own marketing spend.
In this episode:
The 0.1% truth - why every marketing tactic you've tried delivered exactly what it was supposed to, and why that's the problemThe all-in mistake - what actually happens to your results when you concentrate everything on one channelThe time equation - how long it takes to write one LinkedIn post, and what that adds up to over a yearThe 8-hours-a-year model - what Anthony's clients get from four two-hour recording sessions and why the maths are hard to argue withThe advertising trap - why even a significant ad spend dramatically underperforms without one thing supporting itThe legend - the one tool Anthony has found in 35 years that genuinely feeds every other marketing channel at once"There is no other tool, no other marketing device that gives so plentifully to others. It is not just about the podcast - it is about what the podcast gives to furnish all of the other tools that work."
"The legend that is the podcast is that it is the most efficient, most giving, most authentic and most endearing and enduring thing that you can possibly do."

Your show description is the single most important piece of copy you will write for your podcast - and most business podcasters get it completely wrong. Before a single episode is played, before a title is read, before a host's name registers, your show description is doing the heavy lifting of convincing someone to subscribe. Get it right, and you build an audience. Get it wrong, and you lose them in seconds.
In this episode, Anthony Perl breaks down the exact formula for writing a podcast show description that works - one that hooks your ideal listener, speaks directly to their problem, and gives them every reason to hit subscribe. From the opening hook to the soft call to action, Anthony walks through each element step by step, including the most common mistakes business podcasters make and how to avoid them.
Whether you're writing your very first show description or giving your existing one a long-overdue refresh, this episode gives you a clear, practical framework to get it right - and keep it working for you.

Is your podcast costing too much - or is NOT having one costing you even more?
This is the question I get asked almost every single day, and in this episode of Podcasts Done For You Show, I'm answering it straight - no notes, no preparation, just the honest truth about what a podcast really costs a business owner.
And here's the thing: most people are asking the wrong question.
What you'll learn in this episode:
Why "cost" is about so much more than dollars - your time and enjoyment matter just as muchThe editing reality nobody tells you: a 10-minute podcast does not take 10 minutes to editHow a podcast becomes your content engine - populating social media, newsletters, websites, and emails all at onceWhy a podcast gives you a captive audience that a networking meeting simply cannot matchThe real calculation: what is the cost of NOT doing a podcast when your competitors already are?Why trying to do everything yourself is the single biggest mistake podcasters makeThe bottom line? The cost of a podcast is 100% worthwhile when you look at what it delivers - new clients, retained clients, more referrals, and a content strategy that practically runs itself.
And all the resources for Podcasts Done For You Show are available to download at https://link.podcastsdoneforyou.com.au/access - grab them and start working out what a podcast is really worth to your business.
