Joy: it goes beyond just being happy and smiling all the time. Joy in Jesus is so much different than just being happy all the time, and it's even more pertinent when we're suffering, struggling or desiring something that just hasn't happened yet. However, how do we move beyond mood swings and how we're feeling in our premenstrual phase and truly root our strength in the joy of what Jesus has done for us and the promises God speaks over us? I know for my own self, this is an area God is continually refining me in. It requires humility and trusting in God's goodness, and not just in how I feel.
So come have a listen to this third week of advent, and be invited to pursue a joy that's deep deep down, beyond fickle emotions and thoughts, but rather deeply grounded in the truth of who God is.

We're onto our second week of Advent, and this week we're talking about peace. We've all heard peace thrown around by people: find your inner peace.. look within yourself to be calm. Lots of worldly advice that doesn't actually help. Instead, we need to find our peace from outside of ourselves, in God, the one who created us. So, if you've been asking questions like: What if I don't have enough _____________ ? And everything goes wrong? And we won't be all right? What if tragedy hits? These can be paralyzing if we don't know who to give them to.
Have a listen and I pray this episode blesses you and points you to the Prince of Peace.

Are despair and hopelessness speaking a bit too loud these days? Are you finding it difficult to trust in Jesus and his promises amidst premenstrual anxiety and fear? Well, Christmas is coming, and that means Advent is here! If you don't know much about Advent, it simply means 'coming': Jesus is coming. He's still safely tucked in Mary's belly. She's probably getting more and more uncomfortable, and both nervously and excitedly wanting to meet her baby.
You're invited to practice hope this week, to remember where your TRUE hope lies. The world will offer us counterfeit hope, which is like putting a bandaid on a gushing wound. I invite you to step away from the loud, despairing voices and come away with Jesus for a moment, who wants to remind you of the living hope we have in him!

Welcome back to PMS Made Peaceful! This week, I chatted with Bekah Yawn, the fertility awareness guru and boy, was it a great conversation!
Here's a bit about Bekah: I am a daughter of God, a wife, and a mother of three children here on earth and three in heaven. After enduring multiple miscarriages and searching for answers, God revealed the importance of understanding and supporting my cycle naturally. Grateful for this guidance, I discovered lifestyle tweaks and disciplines that made a healthy pregnancy possible. As a FIAT FEMM Coach, I have helped dozens of women and couples nationwide. Now, I'm excited to share the details through my podcast "For the Love of Hormones" as well as a in my Fertility Framework course.
If you've been struggling to conceive and you're wondering where to go from here, have a listen to this episode AND go check out Bekah's podcast: For The Love Of Hormones. Bekah has such a heart for this kind of work, and I know you'll be encouraged by what she has to say.
I pray this episode really blesses you!

Hey friend! It's Monday again, and I'm so excited to share this episode with you of my conversation with Aileen Orr! Aileen and I have been friends for years, and we love chatting about all things holistic and natural wellness, women's health, hormones- all the good stuff! So, we decided to make an official conversation of it and do an episode all about Aileen's experience with getting her period, working through depression, how that affected her premenstrual phase, what she did to help it and where she's at today!
So, grab a coffee, tea- whatever is getting you warm and cozy these days- and have a listen!
Lauren
Aileen grew up on a farm near Brooks, Alberta. She spent the beginning of her adult life studying at the University of Lethbridge, where she got her degrees in English and Education. She's been fortunate enough to do a bit of traveling and living in other places, and has spent the last few years teaching mainly in junior high and upper elementary grades. Her favourite job she's ever had is a tie between working at various summer camps and being a story teller for the library one semester. Her dream job has always been to farm, and that's still the long term goal. She's married to Eric, and she is currently enjoying her first few weeks of Maternity leave before she gets promoted to being Little Sprout's mom!Links:

Struggling with despair? Feeling frantic or like you're on the verge of breaking down? Questioning if you are loved or if God is near?
In this week's episode, we're having a quick chat about 2 Timothy 2:13: "If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself".
This verse has been extremely comforting to me this week as I have struggled with a lot of despairing internal dialogue and difficult emotions. It gives me so much comfort to know that even when I don't have the faith, Jesus still holds me so close.
I hope this episode gives you encouragement today too.
Much love, friend.

In today's episode, we're talking about the stigma and taboo-ness around women's health and the menstrual cycle. I think I can confidently say we've all experienced it and each of us has varying degrees of baggage, shame or discomfort around the topic.
I'm talking about how we can start gaining more awareness of our bodies and creating space for conversation, however you want that to look for yourself. It doesn't have to be covering ourselves with our menstrual blood and saying I AM WOMAN!, or hiding away in our rooms, pretending nothing is wrong, that you're not feeling things and all that! Let's find a happy balance that you feel confident and happy in!
Let's jump into it!

The reality is, our bodies crave simplicity and getting back to the basics. We often think that balancing hormones, getting emotionally regulated, getting our energy back and not being overwhelmed involve a whole slew of things. Yet, it's really the exact opposite. The more we try to "do" and "force", the more stressed out we're going to be, and we all know how that leads to more negative health issues.
In this episode, I'm chatting about the 3 core pillars for helping solve menstrual-health related issues (from PMS to PCOS) that bring you back to the basics. While each of these specific health issues, like endometriosis & PCOS, have their own intricacies and different approaches, these 3 pillars are a great place to start.
While these 3 points are very overarching, if you are interested in getting down to the specifics and figuring out how they can apply in your life and your specific situation, I'd love to work with you. If you'd like to chat to see if 1:1 coaching is the right fit for you, click the here and we can have a quick 10-15 minute chat!

Alright, friend! We're back to the first Monday of the month, and I'm getting back into our "Take a Moment Monday" episode! I want this episode on the first Monday of each month to be a bit more contemplative and reflective, and help you dive more into the word, which is the best place to know truth and be rooted in it!
So this week, I'm talking about Romans 12:8! Do you know the camp song that goes with it?? Maybe not :D But how does this verse pertain to us when we're knee deep in irritability, visceral rage, frustration, rollercoaster mood swings... where it just feels our volatile thoughts and emotions are taking control of us?
Have a listen and we can find out together!

Hey ladies! We're officially into the fall season, and in an energetic sense, that means the luteal phase! And I'm sure if you've been hanging around here, you feel the weight, heaviness and difficulty of the luteal/ premenstrual phase.
So, how do we transition well and give our minds and our hearts the space and permission it desires? This week I'm sharing 3 shifts you can be implementing to help you take care of your WHOLE self during this season, while also preparing for the next season coming up (winter/ menstruation).
Have a listen, and may you find pockets of space in this season to lean into reflection and listening.

Hey friends! This week I'm so excited to introduce to you my guest on the show, Danika Vanderpyl! Danika is Certified in Holistic Nutrition, and shares all the goodness she knows about what foods, minerals and vitamins your body needs in every every phase of your menstrual cycle.
As women, we're not linear, robotic creatures that require one thing to fuel us all month long. Throughout each of the phases, our bodies need different things- different movement, self/ soul-care, socializing, nutrition. And this is exactly what Danika and I chat about in this episode.
The best part of it? In our conversation, she breaks it all down into more simple and bite-size strategies so you're not feeling extra overwhelmed. Because, really friend, you don't need more overwhelm than what you're already experiencing!
I'd highly encourage you to grab a notebook and pen and take notes! Also, don't forget to come into my Facebook group to grab the notes and snack recipes Danika shares in this episode!
Danika Vanderpyl is Certified in Holistic Nutrition with a passion for helping women making eating simple, energizing, and healthy. After facing her own digestive challenges, Danika transformed her favorite recipes into nutrient dense, low-sugar alternatives to heal her body. Now a food blogger she share these wholesome recipes at besidethemoutain.com. Hey friend! We're getting back into the contemplative, "be still" kind of episodes I had offered when I first started this podcast. Originally they had been every other Thursday, but now they will be on the first Monday of every month. Keep your eyes out for "Take a Moment Monday"!
I brought them back a) because I wasn't doing them in my Facebook group, which was the whole reason for taking them off of the podcast and b) because actually practicing calming my mind and my thoughts and slowing down has been so helpful for me in the last number of weeks.
When it comes to finding solutions for working through PMS and PMDD symptoms, we really need to come at it from that holistic point of view. The movement is important, eating the right foods is key, finding the right coping tools to regulate our emotions is vital AND coming to our Creator and letting Him speak over us is absolutely necessary.
So, grab a journal and pen and find a quiet space you can be in for 15 minutes.
I pray this blesses you.
Lauren

EPISODE #50
This week, I'm diving into some pretty theologically-charged content about the idea of struggling with guilt, shame and feelings of condemnation when it comes to PMS or PMDD as a Christian.
We're talking about questions like:
- should I be struggling with PMS/ PMDD as a Christian?
- aren't I supposed to be the one who "has it together" as a Christian?
- I feel so shameful, embarrassed, guilty for how I treated my husband or kids. What do I do from here?
And I'm sure there's more. Join me in this episode was we unpack these topics from a GOSPEL-CENTERED perspective. I hope it really blesses you!

Does it feel like your PMS or PMDD symptoms are a bit (or a lot!) worse this time around?
Are you thinking what did I do or not do to make it this bad?!
Are you feeling extra irritable, anxious or self-critical
If this is you right now, have a listen to this week's episode. There are a bunch of reasons why this could be happening, but I've narrowed it down to four! I have found these to be some of my biggest predictors for worse premenstrual symptoms. And when I'm able to put 2 & 2 together (to equal these four, of course :D), then it gives me more awareness and insight into what I can be doing differently next time around.
Have a listen!
