Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three BolaƱo novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we discuss By Night in Chile. In this novel, BolaƱo examines the fascist mindset via religion and literary criticism. Along the way, we get into how BolaƱo was completely gladiopilled.

Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three BolaƱo novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we discuss Distant Star. In this novel, BolaƱo examines the fascist mindset via the specifically Chilean context of the 1973 coup, Pinochet's Chile, death squads, and the New Chilean poetry.
Note: although this may just be BolaƱo's literary invention, there was a skywriter present during the PBSUCCESS invasion in Guatemala, though he was not a poet (or serial killer) but a used car salesman from the US.

Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three BolaƱo novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we reintroduce BolaƱo and then dive into a less-discussed work, the Third Reich. In this novel, BolaƱo examines the fascist mindset via its historical ideology of Nazism mediated through tabletop wargames and the LARPing that ensues. Along the way, we talk about why Germans are like that and get into the tragic tale of Latin American history.

The heists will continue until morale improves. We finish the story of JosƩ Vigoa by following the rest of his heist career. Then we discuss the circumstances surrounding his arrest and imprisonment, the discovery of his Spetsnaz commando background, and some of his purported intelligence activities post-arrest.
This brings us to the topic of Cuban intelligence operations in the US, which in turns requires us to discuss the one source for this story - John Huddy. As it turns out, that's a very interesting story, too.

Today I discuss the seminal 1995 film Heat, it's plot, the "dudes rock" factor, and the philosophical themes of the film.
Then I discuss a real-life parallel to the de Niro character from the film. Not the actual real-life Chicago criminal Neil McCauley, but the story of JosƩ Vigoa. Vigoa was many things: a Cuban, a commando. a Marielito, a drug kingpin, a family man, and a heist man. There are two more episodes so prepare for some twists and turns.

I'm rejoined by Monty (@MontyBaby7) to finish our conversation about the Jesters (and many more things) relating to the Gosch and Franklin cases. We start with a high-level overview of the timeline of the Gosch and Franklin cases.
Then I examined Alan Baer's family history, which is to say, the Brandeis family, who made their fortune through the Brandeis department store. That led us to examine patterns of immigration to Nebraska including Czech Jews which included practicing Frankists. We revisit the Frankists and discuss US Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis.
Note: as of the recording, I had not read The Books of Jacob by Olga Tokarczuk, but since the recording I have read it.
(Monty wanted to add a clarifying note because he felt he may have been unclear or incorrect in discussing the Sabbateans and Frankists: "Sabbateans were in fact Sephardic, while the Frankists seem to be mostly Ashkanazi but some Sephardic as well."
After that, we explore the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha's secret society. The Knights are very similar to the Veiled Prophet Ball of St. Louis as well as Mardi Gras Krewes. By all accounts, the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben "aspired to weld together the business and professional men of the city of Omaha and surrounding area into a compact secret society" and appear to have done so successfully.fter that, we explore the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha's secret society. I couldn't help myself; not long after Monty and I did our four-part series on Freemasonry, I came into more information about the Jesters which in some ways unlocked the gates of hell. Content warning for child abuse.
Monty and I discuss the disappearance of Johnny Gosch, a paperboy from West Des Moines, Iowa back in 1982, including the Jester connections. We talk about the case history. We also talk about the mayor George Mills and the police chief Orval Cooney (both Jesters), and Monty walks us through the Des Moines Register as a nexus for fascism and pedophilia. I explain the curious connection of the Gab Line and the phone company.
Monty explains the appearance of Sam Soda as well as Noreen Gosch's claims, and we return to Mills and Cooney. We try to make sense of Gunderson's and Bonacci's claims. All of this led us inexorably back to Omaha.

I'm rejoined by Monty (@MontyBaby7) to conclude (I thought) our conversation on Freemasonry by exploring the Dark Carnival of the Royal Order of Jesters. To set the stage, Monty lays out the history of the Shriners, from which the Jesters are an outgrowth. Then we explore the history of the Jesters, the imagery, the rites and themes, and the evil Billiken egregore.
We explore the strong likelihood of the Jesters being engaged in tax and securities fraud. Then we get a bit out there exploring the Indiana connections to the Jesters and the intelligence community. From that point, Monty and I go through the multiple cases of human trafficking involving the Jesters.
Then we attempt to understand the legacy of Freemasonry through the ages into the 21st century.

Monty and I start by discussing the Freemasonic aspects to the Whitechapel murders and then get into the question of crimes involving Freemasonry vs Freemasonic crimes. We discuss Freemasonry's role in the United Kingdom's police force and society at large.
We explore Freemasonry's ties to the UK's landed gentry, as well as the apparent ambivalence of the Royal Family to Freemasonry. Then, (content warning for child abuse) we discuss multiple court cases in which Masonic signs were deployed in attempts to influence the outcome.
We go through Catholicism's conflicts with Freemasonry including the allegations of Luciferian influences in Freemasonry, which leads us back into the world of Royal Arch Freemasonry. We discuss the concept of Jah-Bul-On.
Then we examine the case of the P2 Lodge and subsequent revelations relating to it from the perspective of Freemasonry. To wrap up, we examine Freemasonry as viewed from the perspective of communism, as well as more recent cases of espionage.

Today I'm rejoined by Monty (@MontyBaby7) to ratchet up the weirdness. We continue our discussion of Freemasonry. We talk about the role of Freemasonry in the French Revolution, various bourgeois revolutions, and its role in the United States. We talk about Washington DC architecture and so forth. We explore the idea of Freemasonry's ties to the British empire.
Then we get into Albert Pike's life and times. To our great surprise, Albert Pike was not what we thought he would be. We're talking about his weird early life, his time in the Civil War, the Knights of the Golden Circle, the Klu Klux Klan, and his post-war career. We go through his ideas as presented in his book, Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Then we explore the Orange Order, Job's Daughters, the Order of DeMolay, and various other historical groups. Relatedly, we raise the prospect of connections between Freemasonry and espionage.

Today I'm rejoined by Monty (@MontyBaby7) to discuss one of the great topics of conspiracy theory lore: Freemasonry. Monty walks us through the development of Freemasonry several hundreds years ago from a guild system. We talk about how some of the more esoteric Freemasonry can enter British Hotep LARPing and white boy magick.
We also begin to break out all the related rites, Scottish, Memphis, Royal Arch, and so forth. Monty breaks out various Masonic concepts such as the Great Architect of the Universe and examines some of the cross-pollination of gnostic and Rosicrucian concepts. Then Monty gets weird with it, discussing the square within the circle.

Today I'm joined by John Brisson of We've Read the Documents (@weve_read) to finish our discussion about the Finders. Brisson explains the flophouses and the day-to-day activities that the Finders seemed to engage in.
Then, we go through the list of Finders members and associates. There was probable pedophile Roy Mason, zany doctor Hunter "Patch" Adams, polyamorous pioneer Michael Versace Rios, Carl R. Schleicher and Mankind Research Unlimited, Christopher Peter Bird, Robert Schwartz, Ken Keyes Jr., Dr. Carl Betz Shapley, Edwin Elkin and potential ties to the CoS, and Mildred Jensen Loomis and her commune. We discuss Norman Mailer's relations with the Finders, Gerry Davis, and the curious case of Steve E. Beltz. Beltz raises the possibilities of ties to Kenneth Grant-style magick.
Finally, Brisson walks us through the events of the Tallahassee Incident of 1987 and why he believes the account of US Customs agent Ramon J. Martinez. We attempt to make sense of what the Finders were based on what can be proven with documentary evidence.

Today I'm joined by John Brisson of We've Read the Documents (@weve_read) to discuss one of the most notorious groups in parapolitical history: the Finders. To understand the events of 1987, we need to understand Marion Pettie, his milieu, and ultimately his network. Brisson walked me through his exceptional work digging up that information.
We begin with a high level overview of the group and then drill down into Pettie's early life, anomalous military career, and strange rise to prominence in the counterculture. From there, we discuss Barbara Marx Hubbard and the World Future Society generally. All of this contributes to a more robust understanding of the events of 1987.

Today I'm joined by Muslim Tom (@MuslimTom_) from the podcast You Can't Win to discuss the novel 2666 by Roberto BolaƱo. We go through each of the five sections and discuss characters, plots, vibes, and themes. There's almost everything in 2666, including many spiritual themes and parapolitical moments. Towards the end, we discuss the journalists BolaƱo was working with who advance extremely noided theories about the femicides.
Content warning for discussion of sexual assault and murder. Also, spoilers, but spoilers should be less of a concern for this type of novel anyway. I don't think this episode is an automatic skip if you haven't read 2666 and hopefully this might encourage you to read it. Although you would get the most out of this episode if you read the novel, I'd like to think we lay out the plot and also read enough passages to make the episode enjoyable if you haven't read it.

I'm joined by Luke Marshall (@thingobserver) of Things Observed podcast to continue our conversation about rap snitches, informants, undercovers, plants, and rats in the rap industry.
This time, we largely focus on the Atlanta rap scene, starting with T.I. We walk through T.I.'s early life and career and highlight various events which raise some interesting possibilities. Then, I go through what I found on several other Atlanta rappers (not all of what we found is 'bad', of course). Finally, we end the episode with the curious case of Soulja Boy and attempt to answer the question why he even has a career at all.

Today's the third episode examining the life of Leon Trotsky, and I'm joined by Comrade Chad. We discuss Trotsky's activities in exile including work with the Soviet Opposition Bloc, terrorist actions, and the ensuing show trials. We particularly discuss the curious case of Genrikh Lyushkov, who overlaps with some of the Japanese intrigue from prior episodes, as well as more about the Promethean League, and everyone's favorite topic: outright collaboration with the fascists.
We cover the French Turn, touch on the Chinese and Vietnamese Trots, try not to relitigate the Spanish Civil War, and introduce the cast of characters (pay attention) who will become important in the US Trotskyist movement. Finally, we discuss Trotsky's time in Mexico, including the very impartial American Committee for the Defense of Leon Trotsky and some outright snitch shit for HUAC.
