Using Gen's full name, which is Genevieve La Hunt feels a bit weird, and it's not just because she's a good friend of Loz's, my co-host, of course, and the host of Ask Ready or Not. It's because when I jumped off this recording, I felt like I had just chatted with a friend myself.
Gen is the founder of Sunday Agency. She works in publicity and PR she's had a really interesting career.
But what was more interesting about her was just how real she is. You will not meet anyone who talks as straight as Gen. She really resented owning a business, particularly in the early days of motherhood. She resents that she worked from the hospital. She resents that she sent emails while she was in labor. She doesn't think this girl boss thing really applies when she talks about how she's had to navigate paid work and motherhood.
Instead, here, she offers something really real. With all that in mind, you could then be expecting a negative piece of conversation, but that's not what you're going to get today. You're going to get a really realistic look into what it's like to navigate business as the mum, as the boss. You're going to hear about her corporate experiences and what the difference between really good management and really terrible management looks like, especially when it comes to her really challenging fertility journey and a traumatic miscarriage, and you're going to learn about what it's taught her, about being a leader and being in business as a parent and with a family today. There's lots of swearing, there's lots of fun. There is so much honesty. It really is one of my favorite conversations to date.

DEAR READY OR NOT: What should you be doing in your final weeks of mat leave to set up for the return to work? How to stop the envy creeping in when your friends work fewer days than you but somehow still have the house and the holidays. And how to keep your cool when you're stuck managing up.

Because Ready or Not is all about figuring out how to make work, work as a mum, here, you’ll hear a side of Antoinette Lattouf you probably haven’t heard before, because for so long, we’ve wondered: how did Antoinette mother through the hardest time of her life? How do you rebuild your career and yourself after an unfair and extremely public sacking? How do you find the power to fight for yourself and others when parenting already asks so much of us?
Here, the woman that won answers these questions and so much more, while also reflecting on the important lessons her daughters teach her and why nothing gives her more purpose than the joyful choir of children.

Sharina Simnett has been one of the biggest supporters of Ready or Not. Loz and I have shared many a conversation with her in our DMs, she’s always the first to leave a comment on Substack, she often checked in at the time that she was looking for work that actually worked alongside motherhood, and, once she landed her dream role at Yoto, she brought us our most meaningful partnership to date, too.
So when Yoto wanted to work with Ready or Not again, it became immediately obvious to Loz and I to get Sharina on to share her story with burnout, motherhood, how she judged mums in the workplace before she became one, and what’s surprised her as someone who was career-obsessed before kids.
Here, we cover how much her relationship with ambition has changed, the anxiety that came with a severe period of burnout, how she defines success now, the hack that means work life doesn’t bleed too much into parenting life, and what she’d go back and tell her pre-motherhood self about the journey she has embarked on.

Alicia Loxley is familiar with pressure. The pressure to succeed in an industry that most of her uni lecturers told her was too hard to make a career in, the pressure of what became an intense first pregnancy, ending in bed rest and potentially life threatening consequences for both her and her son, and the pressure she feels to always being doing well both as a mum and a journalist. And where she feels most pressure isn’t from the job she’s worked so hard in; it’s in being a mum to three children.
Here, we talk about why she can’t understand people that don’t identify as feminists, the discomfort that lies in being completely out of control when, before kids, we become accustomed to trying our best to control everything, what it’s been like to navigate a public role that requires you to be sharp and presentable, when motherhood can make you feel the exact opposite, and why she now understand the cliche that to raise a teenage son is to experience the slowest breakup imaginable.
I learned so much from Alicia, and if I’m honest, I wondered how open a journalist in the public eye feels she can be. I needn’t have doubted her though; this is as candid a conversation as you’ll hear. So let’s get into it.
