In today’s episode, Chris and Christina take an in depth and personal look into the life of Carl Gulley. Carl is a husband, father, pastor and speaker who is learning to embrace living with a non anxious presence. Alongside you, the listener, find out how Carl emerged from his family of origin with an alcoholic father and a saint of a mother into what he currently calls a season of restoration.
You will see the powerful impact of mentoring in his life and how one mentor changed the trajectory of his family by choosing to pour her life into the life of his Mom. Her influence laid the foundation for not only Carl to seek out mentors throughout his own life but also ensure his children were supported by mentors.
Carl discusses the last few years of his life referring to them as the dark knight of the soul. Walking with him were ministry mentors who knocked the question marks off from over his head. These mentors weren't just impressed with his accomplishments. They knew him and called out his identity.
Carol’s authentic interview is a beautiful story of restoration and reconciliation.

Why talk about them? Because in mentoring, the goal is to talk about all aspects of a person. When one of those six areas need more attention than others, imbalance occurs. When imbalance occurs, we have the potential to have difficulty in life. Understanding each component and how to talk about them lead to good mentoring! Enjoy today’s kick off to the new series: The Six Areas.

Healthy mentoring relationships call for giving authentic feedback. We’ve seen plenty of examples when we’ve personally received feedback that was critical or hurtful. Today Chris and Christina offer three helpful questions to ask yourself before offering healthy feedback to a mentee. As a mentor, ask yourself the following questions:
Is my motive pure? What is my motive?Am I being honest in what I’m about to say?The goal in providing loving, honest feedback is to desire the best for your mentee. Asking yourself these three questions will help you deliver feedback that will be authentic, loving and spur your relationship to a deeper level.
