What happens when three dummies talk about one of the best-selling and most-controversial music groups in 21st century America? Listen to find out.
We're talking about Fly, the diamond-certified second studio album from The Chicks, which hits the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list at #224.
There's so much to talk about with this album. First, we have no idea what Sonya and Nathan think of country music - they weren't on the show last time we tackled the genre with Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors. Are either of them anything-but-country music fans? If so, will this be an offensive and horrible episode that country fans are bound to hate? Do country fans still like The Chicks? Does this album from The Chicks have the depth and heft to earn its way onto the list? Is it even the right album from The Chicks?

What happens when three people who aren't big pop fans listen to an album from one of the world's top pop stars? It ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
We're talking about Lorde's 2017 critical hit album, Melodrama, which just barely grabs a piece of the 2020 Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list at #460.
One of our usual co-hosts, Sonya, couldn't make it for this show, so we replaced her with the most genetically-similar person we could find: her son. What'd he think of this album? Could Nathan get over his general disdain for pop music? Will Eamon ever understand modern music production? These questions and more are answered in our review.

Oh, and his album is in the top-100 of all time, according to Rolling Stone. Yes, the Marley brand is strong, but does the music hold up? We asked our friend David Lizerbram from Rock Docs to join us for a discussion that ranged from reggae and assassination attempts to beach girls and the Tragically Hip.

We're talking about Lou Reed's 1972 glam rock landmark, Transformer, which makes the 2020 Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list at #109.
This episode sees the triumphant return of Gia Mora - the actor, activist, singer, writer, etc. - who knocked our socks off when talking about James Taylor many episodes ago. Not only does she bring credibility - she's a musician! - but she also came ready with stories about Lou Reed's grumpy voicemails, his potential influence on Beck's work and more. As usual, Nathan Smith and Sonya Walton join Eamon O'Flynn as we dig into an enigmatic, complicated and exceptionally influential artist.

Where are all the Canadians, eh?
If you take a close look at the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list youâll see a bunch of Canadians - The Band, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, etc. - who have one thing in common: they spent a huge portion of their careers in the United States. It does seem like Rolling Stone has a bit of a *gasp* American bias.
Well, the good folks at Record Roulette would like to help Rolling Stone correct this bias, so weâve picked three albums from Canadian artists that have a serious claim to the list and debated which one is best. Eamon OâFlynn chose Gordon Lightfootâs âSundown,â Sonya Walton chose kd langâs âIngenueâ and Nathan Smith chose Rufus Wainwrightâs self-titled debut album.
Which one should make the list? Listen to find out.

We're talking about Madonna's 1989 confessional album Like A Prayer, which turns up on the 2020 Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list at #330.
How does the Queen of Pop's fourth studio album hold up 30+ years after it was released?
Record Roulette host Sonya Walton was sweating bullets - she loved it as a teenager, but lots of stuff we loved as teenagers are terrible now. Did she have to worry? You have peak 1980s Madonna pissing off the Catholic Church, plus deeply personal stories about spousal abuse, crumbling family ties and more packaged with exceptionally listenable pop music and the occasional shred on the guitar from the one and only Prince. What's not to love?Record Roulette co-hosts Eamon OâFlynn, Nathan Smith and Sonya Walton are joined by special guest Mike Pereira of the Mid-Credit Scene Podcast to discuss.
