On today’s episode of Redefining Motherhood, I share with you my recent experience with a social media detox. For the past two months, I took an extended break from platforms like Instagram and Facebook, and the results have been truly remarkable.
There are many benefits I experienced from this detox and I share those benefits here with you. From significant improvements in mental clarity and focus, to reduced self-criticism and feelings of unworthiness, to a boost in productivity, to getting better sleep and having less stress, all of these came from taking time away from social media.
As I've slowly reintegrated social media into my life, I find myself more mindful and intentional about how I use it. The benefits I experienced during the detox have made me realize just how much of an impact these platforms can have, both positively and negatively. I encourage all of my listeners to consider taking a social media break, even if it's just for a day or two per week. The positive ripple effects it can have on your mental, emotional, and physical health are truly remarkable.

In this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I talk about how we get caught up in the daily grind and forget to acknowledge the incredible skills we develop along our journey. I show you how to harness the everyday skills you've developed and turn them into the keys to your next career breakthrough. Whether you're going for a promotion, starting a side hustle, or switching careers, the skills you use daily can certainly help you thrive.
First, I encourage you to acknowledge your worth. Don't get caught up in what you lack - focus on the leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills you've demonstrated. These are valuable assets that can advance your career.
Next, identify and leverage your transferable skills. These are abilities you can carry from one job to another, like project management, data analysis, or persuasive communication. Recognizing these skills can open doors to new opportunities, even in different industries.
I also encourage you to reflect on your experiences and the depth of learning you've gained. Leading a cross-departmental project or navigating a corporate merger showcases skills essential for leadership roles. Use these examples to demonstrate your value.
Investing in yourself is key. Whether it's pursuing further education, taking on stretch assignments, or seeking out mentorship, these actions boost your qualifications and show your commitment to growth. Networking with industry leaders can also provide invaluable guidance.
Remember, you are already equipped with everything you need to take the next step. By acknowledging your worth, leveraging your skills, and investing in yourself, you can dream bigger and aim higher. The journey of self-discovery is ongoing, but you are worthy of achieving your goals.

As a busy professional juggling multiple responsibilities, I'm often asked how I manage to "do it all" without burning out. In this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I share the key to my success - consistency.
Through reflecting on a podcast episode about avoiding burnout, I realized that the secret to my productivity and well-being is building habits and routines that keep me on track across all areas of my life. Whether it's my career, family, personal projects, or self-care, I've learned that small, consistent actions compound over time to drive big results.
I attribute much of my ability to "get it all done" to using a combination of analog and digital planning tools. My paper planner and digital calendar work in tandem to ensure I'm staying accountable to the commitments I've made. By dedicating a little time each week to reviewing my schedule and to-do's, I'm able to avoid dropping the ball.
Consistency, I've found, is the antidote to burnout. Rather than striving for an elusive "work-life balance," I focus on showing up consistently for the priorities in my life. This steady, sustainable approach has allowed me to achieve a level of success that once seemed unattainable, all while preserving my health and well-being.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by your responsibilities, I encourage you to look at where you may be lacking consistency. Identify the areas that could use more of your time and attention on a regular basis. Then, experiment with tools and routines that help you stay on track. With consistency as your foundation, you too can reap the rewards of productivity without sacrificing your self-care and family time.

In this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I'm excited to discuss the importance of celebrating small wins and how we can recognize and document these wins. As busy, ambitous mothers, it's so easy to get caught up in our daily challenges and overlook the progress we're making. But I'm here to tell you that every small victory deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated.
Ultimately, I want you to know that you are doing more than you think and you deserve to acknowledge and celebrate every small win. By shifting the mindset to focus on progress rather than perfection, we can cultivate the self-belief and resilience to keep pushing towards our biggest goals. The key is to create intentianal moments to reflect on that progress.
Also, I want to thank you all for the incredible support on my recent episode featuring Katy Whalen of Joi Women's Wellness. The response was so overwhelming that this episode is sponsored by Joi Women's Wellness, and they're offering a special 10% discount to our community using the code "AMANDA10” at https://choosejoi.co/

Today on Redefining Motherhood, I am reflecting on something that's been weighing heavily on my mind lately. As an ambitious woman, I often find myself in a perpetual state of striving, always searching for the next goal, the next achievement, the next thing to check off my list.
I have so much to be grateful for - a beautiful family, a thriving career, this podcast community, and so much more. Yet I still battle this nagging feeling that I'm not doing enough, that I need to be accomplishing more. My coach helped me realize that I'm already living the life I envisioned years ago, but I'm struggling to simply enjoy the present.
That's why I'm making the conscious decision to slow down, to give myself permission to just be. I don't always have to maintain a fast pace or constantly strive for more. It's okay to slow down, be content, savor this season, and release the heavy pressure I've placed on myself. In fact, I'm even scaling back my podcast schedule to focus on quality over quantity, because my mental health and creativity are the priorities right now.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, I encourage you to also take your foot off the gas. Give yourself the space to reflect, to be grateful, and to simply live in the beautiful life you've created. The goals and achievements will still be there, but for now, focus on filling your cup and thriving in the present moment. Your future self will thank you.

On today’s episode of Redefining Motherhood, I talk about overcoming the excuses and limiting beliefs that can hold women back from advancing their careers. I openly share about my own journey from an entry-level employee to an Executive Vice President in just over a decade, all while navigating the challenges of motherhood, fitness goals, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
I recognize that many women struggle with the notion that they have to choose between having a successful career or being a devoted mother. However, I'm here to tell you that you can absolutely have both. I dive into the four key excuses I had to overcome, including feeling like I didn't have enough time, being chronically fatigued, doubting my qualifications, and believing I had to sacrifice my family to achieve my career aspirations.
I also share strategies for reframing these limiting beliefs, such as prioritizing self-care, embracing a growth mindset, and finding inspiring examples of women who have achieved the balance you desire. I provide you with a free guide containing 7 actionable steps you can take to fast-track your career success without sacrificing your life. I encourage you to download the guide, reflect on the excuses that may be holding you back, and take the necessary steps to redefine your own version of success.

On today’s episode of Redefining Motherhood, I share an important topic that resonates with so many women in this community - the overwhelming guilt we feel as mothers when trying to find time for ourselves. In a recent survey, a number of respondents expressed struggling to carve out time for themselves, not because they can't fit it in, but because they feel guilty doing so.
As mothers, we often feel like we should be present with our children 100% of the time when we're not working. We put immense pressure on ourselves to be the perfect, ever-available parent, and any time spent on our own interests or hobbies can trigger feelings of guilt.
I share my own personal experiences with this, and how I've had to consciously remind myself that taking time for myself is not selfish, but rather a necessary act that allows me to be a better mother, partner, and person overall. I encourage listeners to find ways to proactively schedule activities and outings that bring them joy, whether it's a monthly brunch with friends, a solo shopping trip, or a fitness class.
The key is to work through the guilt and remember that you're putting your oxygen mask on first so you can pour into others. I want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle and that with some intentional effort, we can learn to release the guilt and embrace doing more things for ourselves that we enjoy.

On this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I discuss the surprising results of a recent survey I conducted with my community. While over half of the respondents felt their careers and motherhood were in a good place, the number one struggle they reported was their health and fitness. This really resonated with me, as I've been there myself.
A year ago, I was struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety, and my health and fitness had taken a backseat. But, I made the conscious decision to prioritize my physical and mental well-being, and it's made all the difference. I now wake up early to exercise, meal prep, and plan out my week - and the results have been incredible. I've lost 30 pounds, 15-17 inches, and 5-6% body fat over the past year.
I encourage my listeners to do the same. Take a hard look at your schedule and identify those pockets of time you may be wasting on mindless social media scrolling or Netflix binges. Reallocate that time to activities that nourish your body and mind, whether it's a workout, meal planning, or even just 10 minutes of meditation. Making your health a priority will pay dividends in how you show up as a mother, partner, and professional.
If you're struggling to figure out where to start, don't worry - I plan to bring on more health and fitness experts to share their tips and strategies. I'm also always open to feedback, so please let me know if there are specific topics you'd like me to cover. Together, we can redefine what it means to be a thriving and healthy Mother!

On this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I discuss the importance of self-love and body positivity, especially during the summer months. Having struggled with body dysmorphia myself, I share my journey of learning to accept my post-baby body. I encourage listeners to prioritize happiness and self-care rather than letting societal standards dictate their self-worth. While it's important to take care of ourselves through exercise and nutrition, I emphasize that true fulfillment comes from within, not from achieving some unrealistic body ideal. I challenge listeners to get out of their own heads and stop engaging in negative self-talk.
Instead, we should find gratitude for what our amazing bodies allow us to do and experience. Rather than dwelling on perceived flaws, I advocate enjoying life's moments like summer barbecues and pool parties. I also share how impactful it is for children to see their mothers loving themselves unconditionally. I also suggest an exercise for you to do for 30 days to help rewire negative thinking and start a daily habit of self-love.

Today on Redefining Motherhood, I welcome branding expert Rachel B. Lee to the show. Rachel is a LinkedIn top voice and co-owner of Standout Authority, where she supports top business executives and owners in defining their personal brand and becoming thought leaders.
Rachel vulnerably shares her personal journey with motherhood, including her experience with step-parenting and IVF.
Rachel and I also dive into the difficulties of growing a business while dealing with personal hardships. She provides valuable insight into her identity shift from corporate life to entrepreneurship and describes the discomfort of measuring success differently as an entrepreneur versus an employee. Rachel emphasizes aligning personal mission and values with one's work and encourages mothers struggling in unfulfilling corporate roles to explore alternative arrangements that are more in alignment with your values and lifestyle preferences. Overall, it was a thought-provoking discussion around finding purpose and alignment in motherhood, career, and life.

Welcome back to another episode of Redefining Motherhood! I'm so excited to share insights I gained from a recent talk I gave on networking and relationship-building to a women's leadership group in my industry. As many of you know, I've had quite a successful career going from entry-level to C-suite in just 12 years. What you may not know is that every single job opportunity came to me through my network of personal relationships.
That's why I am so passionate about sharing what I've learned over the years as it relates to networking and building relationships. Did you know that a staggering 70-80% of jobs are never publicly advertised and are filled through networking instead? Even more shocking, those referred through connections average a 6% higher starting salary. It really drives home the importance of putting in the work to build your network.
Listen in as I share some important networking strategies and how building genuine connections is a critical part of success. Consistency and persistence over the long run is key. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You never know when an opportunity might arise years down the line!
I hope you find these insights on networking and relationship building helpful for your own career success. Be sure to implement some of these strategies and let me know if they work for you!

Today on Redefining Motherhood, as I recently returned from a refreshing weekend getaway with friends, it reminded me of the importance of self-care. It's so easy to get caught up in our daily routines of work, caring for our family, and other obligations that we neglect our own needs and happiness. During my trip, I realized how much joy simple pleasures, and quality time with others can bring. In this episode, I encourage you to reflect on how you spend your time and prioritize self-care.
An important first step is to take a look at your schedule and identify any gaps where you could make room for self-care activities. It's crucial to fill your own cup so that you can show up as your best self in all areas of life. I suggest making a list of things that genuinely bring you joy, peace or fulfillment - it could be anything from spending time in nature to bonding over a meal with friends.
My challenge to you is to look for small but intentional ways to schedule in the things that will bring you more joy, even if it's just once a week or a month. The key is proactively adding fulfilling experiences to your calendar rather than just squeezing them in if time allows.
Life is short, so don't put off treating yourself with the happiness you deserve. I hope you will take the time to recharge and enjoy life's simple pleasures by regularly incorporating self-care into your busy schedules.
