According to the WEF, digital infrastructure supports almost every aspect of our lives, from healthcare and banking to energy. Thanks to our increased reliance on technology, cyberattacks pose a larger threat to the success of organisations, and the welfare of individuals now more than ever before.
Even the smallest of data leaks can lead to huge ramifications further up the business chain and poor cybersecurity at home could prove to a weak link for many.
In light of the growing demand for cybersecurity skills thanks to increasing instances of breaches and detections, closing the cybersecurity skills gap is absolutely crucial.
In this episode, I speak to Conrad Steyn, CTO and Head of Engineering for Cisco Sub Saharan Africa about the importance of cybersecurity, the cybersecurity skillset shortage and Cisco's recent cybersecurity survey of general consumers across Europe and Middle East.

By now it comes as no surprise that COVID-19 drove the acceleration of technology adoption and innovation across the African continent.
In South Africa, we’re seeing the banking sector shaped by the entry of digital players and a changing consumer base which is leading to unprecedented levels of innovation.
With increasing customer demand for digitally native transactions comes the hybridizing of financial services with technology. In the past year alone there has been a significant uptick in competition as we witnessed the launch of three major branchless, digital banks focused on innovation, digital transformation, and improving the customer experience.
To get more insights into this, I spoke to Ria Pinto, GM and Technology Leader, IBM South Africa.

The new normal is a phrase that we've all heard being used to describe the way that productivity has changed in the past 2 years.
While the discussion often centers around companies and employees adapting to remote or hybrid ways of working, I think that it should also be used to describe how the software and technologies we use should work together to help us achieve our goals, but in order to do that, the big tech companies would need to adopt a strategy that breaks down the silos of communication and foster an environment of communication, problem-solving and finding the best solution for the end-user.
RedHat is a company that embodies all of these qualities and more. In our second episode of this special series, I'll be chatting to Johan Scheepers Senior Manager of Solution Architects at Red Hat in Sub-Saharan Africa about who RedHat actually is and why their impressive customer-centric ethos as well as why partnering RedHat is the best option for your business

Did you know that despite the fact that water covers 70% of our planet, only 3% of the world's water is fresh, two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or is otherwise unavailable for our use and that as a result some 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year?
Water is our most precious natural resource, but faced with an increasing global population, over-exploitation, and pollution, this resource is under threat.
In today's episode, I'll be speaking to Sheila de Carvalho, Director Business Unit: Industry & Smart Asset Management at Royal HaskoningDHV, about how technology can be used to address the water crisis. If you’ve been online anytime in the past few months you’ve probably heard of Clubhouse, the social audio app that’s spurred a new wave of live audio services from some of the biggest names in social media.
Founded by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, Clubhouse was initially released exclusively on iOS back in March of 2020 and it’s only in May 2021 that the company launched an app for Android users. Despite this delay in catering to Android users, Clubhouse managed to amass an incredible 600 000 registered users by December 2020 and just a few months later, in March 2021, that number had grown to over 10 million weekly active users.
Recently, the company has announced a range of new offerings including a partnership with Ted - the brand behind the popular Ted Talks - payments for content creators, and most recently, spatial audio.
I spoke to Justin Uberti, Clubhouse’s Head of Streaming, about the new spatial audio feature, the future of audio, and how Clubhouse is able to be both the underdog and the unicorn that everyone in the tech world is trying to emulate.
