Bob Roop discusses the business practices of Ole Anderson and Jim Barnett in Georgia Championship Wrestling in the early 1980s. We go deep behind the scenes as first, we discuss Ole's expansion into Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia. How it all came about, dealing with the Sheik & Vince McMahon Sr., the power of cable TV, making syndicated TV deals, the cities & average revenue! Then, we dive into Ole's thoughts on promoter Jim Barnett, accusations on Barnett skimming money off the top across all the cities, crooked State Athletic Commissions, Fire Marshals. From there we talk the many issues between Ole Anderson and Jim Barnett. Ole's accusations of Jim Barnett stealing money from the Georgia territory, Anderson removing Barnett of his financial "duties", and how the slow takeover of Vince McMahon begins! As most folks know, this feud came to a head in a famous steel cage match that would be known as the "Last Battle of Atlanta". The match is memorable for many reasons. One of the reasons is the cage itself, it was unique in the fact that it was a steel cage that also had a chain link top that would go on to inspire the WWE's HELL IN A CELL cage years later. It's also famous because for decades it was believed that no footage of this match existed, it was the holy grail of the pro wrestling tape traders from the VHS days into the DVD days. But mostly it was memorable because it was an exclamation point on a violent and bloody feud that lasted over two years.
