The humid days of summer does not stop Remap Radio. Join Chia, Janet, Rob, and Patrick as they further talk through Xbox’s generational reset, PlayStation’s announcement that it’s ditching discs, some initial thoughts on the Steam Machine, deck TV feelings, and more. We’ve got plenty of game talk, too, including beating Mina the Hollower, crashing out in Marathon, and trying to find a better way to organize the video games you should be playing—even if by shame.

We knew Xbox was going to undergo a massive transformation, and now we have some of the details of what that transformation will look like. A combination of mass layoffs and studio divestments is leaving Xbox in a very different place. But what does the future like? What kinds of games will Xbox prioritize in the future? What does it mean to have ambitions of a billion players each day—and will that very priority ruin Xbox? Rob and Patrick unpack the latest news.

Patrick, Mr. Kirkland himself, has made the trip to the east coast to meet up with Chia and Rob, which can only mean one thing: Rob's breaking in his brand new Costco membership under the tutelage of the master himself. Listen in as we wander the liminal space of the Costco parking lot, marvel at the sights and sounds of the Costco produce fridge, and pay our respects to the humble chicken bake.

Has it really been [checks notes] four months since an episode of Sports!? Don’t worry, your patience will be rewarded, especially if you wait until the end, when Patrick reveals a story he’s been sitting on for weeks that had Rob trying to avoid breaking his monitor. In more pleasant moments, Rob and Patrick weigh their options if a genie granted them tickets guaranteed to make their team lose, the NBA playoffs, and, of course, an early Bears season prediction.

There comes a time in every person's life when they must contend with the question: which golf game is for me? For Rob, well he and his dad spent some time this past week hitting the links in PGA 2k25. Patrick and Chia were both won over by a totally Normal Golf Game, (which they will make Rob play next week when the crew gathers at Highground). Unfortunately, there's only so much golfing that can distract from Xbox closing multiple studios, Epic putting AI in Unreal Engine 6, and Don't Nod teetering on the edge of shutting down for good. As bleak as the AAA space is, at least Steam Next Fest has given Patrick and Chia games to look forward to in the indie zone, including Penguin Colony, the next game from the folks who made Umurangi Generation, and even more golf in the form of Sting and Swing, a stylish looking metroid-vania golfing game.

Alas, it’s time to say goodbye to another round of trailermania, but in the meantime, there’s so much for Rob, Patrick, Janet, and Chia to discuss. Besides mulling the latest bleak news about the future of Xbox and GOG sending out weird emails, Janet and Patrick were at Summer Game Fest and walked amongst the video games, where there was lots of conversations about the AI alongside hands-on time with games like Alien: Isolation 2, Control Resonant, and more.

Summer Game Fest is upon us! But before that, join Patrick, Chia, and Janet as they react to Sony’s lengthy State of Play presentation, and why some of the high-profile games left them feeling a little cold (even if they’re absolutely going to play them). Plus, what to make of Tomb Raider’s AI disclosure? What the heck is a “broughlike”? Do we really need a Rayman Legends remake? Plus, updates on our time with 007 First Light, MapMap, a slew of student games, and more. In The Question Bucket, we ponder if CCU discourse has reached the normies.

Breaking News: three members of Remap Radio are really enjoying 007 First Light, a new stealth/action/Hitman-esque game from the developers behind, of course, Hitman. But Janet, Rob, Patrick, and Chia are also enjoying and thinking about other things, including apocalyptic signs in the PC buying market, the return of “due to ongoing market conditions” (now with a jingle!), and questions about what it means to return to The Witcher 3 so years later. Plus, Patrick has dug deep into Mina the Hollower and is trying to drag Janet and Chia down with him.

The developers of Shovel Knight are, at long last, back with a new game—and despite the long wait, it’s absolutely fantastic. Mina the Hollower is a love letter to topdown games like Zelda, mixed in with elements of Castlevania, Dark Souls, and many others. It’s also had a long journey towards release, which was a topic of conversation during a recent chat Patrick had with Yacht Club Games’ founder and director Sean Velasco and programmer David D’Angelo.

Bubsy is an unlikely franchise to be receiving a new sequel in 2026. Bubsy 4D arrives this week, following one of the worst received platformers of all-time, Bubsy 3D. But is Bubsy 3D misunderstood? What did the original games do right? And why make a sequel, when you could make anything? Patrick went digging for answers with Bubsy 4D developers Fabian Rastorfer and Ben Miller to ask a simple question: Why? It has, of course, a nuanced answer.

Mixtape is a new game from Beethoven & Dinosaur, the studio behind 2021’s whimsical musical adventure The Artful Escape. It’s Life Is Strange (absent the supernatural) by way of John Hughes. Patrick recently had an opportunity to chat with Mixtape’s lovingly eccentric creative director, Johnny Galvatron, and its producer, Woody Woodward, about what it means to make a video game about love, booze, and teenage friendship. Plus, we talk about Weezer.
